Has anyone else heard about this? I assume it will start showing in the fall. It is supposed to be set in the fictitious town of Dillon, Texas. I hope it will be good. Of course nothing can compare to the real thing. Mac Brown will do a cameo in the show. Here is a link. http://www.thefutoncritic.com/cgi/pr.cgi?id=20060301nbc01

It appears so. At least it is about Texas High School Football. I hope it is a good one but we will see. I get to see the real thing here in Lufkin though and I am sure you get to do the same in your home town.

NBC is using the Pfluggerville Panther team instead of Odessa Permian for the TV series.

I hope this gets picked up by the networks. I think it could be a big hit and put more of a spotlight on Texas High School Football.
I helped set up their high speed internet connections while they were in town to fil for a few weeks. Everyone i encountered seemed pretty nice and felt like it would be a good series.
Lets all hope it puts high school football in the proper place and not something that makes Texas HS Football seem silly to others.
Glad they used a local area for the series, kinda brings it all home.

Should be interesting im not gonna get my hopes up for a great show because i just think its really hard to get all the action and intensity of a Friday night here in Texas but im gonna watch it.

you know what would be cool is, if they had a show where they'd travel around the state, maybe even country, and feature diffrent teams

I am not too much for this. These are high school teenagers, and I feel they have enough pressures as it is. Dealing on a national spotlight level is not a good thing while these young men are still growing, and trying to learn. As it is very few college athletes have degrees, and I can see something going wrong along these lines. In some ways, I feel the whole high school football thing has gotten big enough. Some of these young men are beginning to become exploited even with strict UIL rules. I prefer to keep Texas high school football in Texas. As it is, we get enough ridicule from non-Texans. If anyone here Travels with their job, they know what I am talking about.

this is not good. Television shows like to focus on the negative and controversial topics. This will only be negative for Texas high school football

The show will be a caricature just like the old tv show Dallas was. What else can you expect of the Hollywood or N.Y. media? It'll be a mockery of Tx hs fb. People outside the st. love to make fun of Tx anyway, & this will give them just one more opportunity to poke fun. You know how ignorant & crass Texans are anyway--& then you add Texas hs fb into the mix--that show will be a laugh a min. (for non-Texans).
I'm just glad that they're not using Permian & the town of Odessa for their whipping boy this time around (but I'm sure viewers around the nation will be thinking "Permian" & Odessa even if some other locality & shcl. name are used). The sooner the series goes ahead and fails (I'm pretty sure it will), the better off we'll all be in Texas.

As much as I love Texas High School football, I am not so sure this is good. Mainly because, almost everything they create about Texas, paints us to be a bunch of ignorant bumpkins. Hollywood's idea of what we are. If they keep it real then it could be okay. But you just don't see that much. But if it is on I will watch it. What is so stupid is they will probably schedule it to air on Friday nights. LOL

It will definetly thrive off a stereotype.

I wonder if the teams name will be the Longhorns? I wonder if they will all wear cowboy boots and chew tobacco? They will all probably be named Jim Bob, Billy Bob, Joe Bob, Bubba, etc... and either drive trucks or cadillacs with Longhorns on the front. It should be real exciting.:D

They will all have pickups and sit on the tailgates after the game drinking Lone Star beer.....I HATE sterotypes.....all of them.
