Coaches project Lions atop 13-5A

Tribune-Herald staff report

Friday, July 08, 2005

District 13-5A coaches have pegged Waco High as the favorite to win the district football championship.

The Texas High School Coaches Association has released its list of district favorites as selected by coaches from each district.

Troy is the 12-2A favorite over Crawford, which completed a 16-0 season in 2004. The Pirates captured the Class 2A Division II championship.

Other Central Texas teams who were named pre-season favorites in their districts included Connally (17-3A), Marlin (18-3A), Hamilton (10-2A), Mart (22-2A), Salado (25-2A), Frost (21-1A) and Chilton (25-1A).

Other favorites in area districts included Brownwood (16-4A), Giddings (19-3A), Maypearl (11-2A) and Scurry-Rosser (14-2A).

What is going to hurt Cove and A&M is that they both have to play in Waco.

Actually this year Waco doesn't look too great....and they are not ranked anywhere....but, that is usually when they do alot better than most think. Hard to tell with them.....

That may be the ONLY thing....but IMO, it'll be just like playing a home game....astroplay, nice scoreboard, more fans than the other team....mmmm....its a rival game....should be fun, and i certainly cant wait....

Our schedule sucks because they have us going to Waco twice and B/CS twice....
