From the Schedules set up and the rankings you have set in your mind for each team, district or nondistrict what game during the regular season will be the best? For Katy, week 1 against The Woodlands should be good and week 3 against A&M should be fun to. Im pretty sure i got the weeks right but if i didnt just say so.

the slc v evangel game will get lots of press coverage, and might be a good one, but who knows. the old evangel would give anyone fits. lately not so much. slc's biggest problem that early in the season will be the lack of returnees. may be a circus atmospere with tv and all.

I agree with KTss24...A&M Consol v. Katy should be one of the better games next fall.

Westlake vs. Consol in week 2 will be classic, and Westlake and Abilene in week zero is a rare match-up. Last time Westlake beat a team out of Abilen they won the state championship. ( '96 vs. Cooper)

I'm looking forward to Cy-Falls vs Strake Jesuit at Crusader Stadium...that and SJ vs Cinco Ranch at SJ.

if the Cy Falls/Strake game is even half as exciting as that playoff game, I better pack the defibrillator!!!! Looking forward to meeting up again Crusaders!!!

Consol has a pretty tough non-district schedule with Katy, Austin Westlake, and Leander.

Do they play Leander at home or in Leander, and what week is it. I'm happy that coach gideon is finally deciding to step all the way outside of the box with non district schedules. We played Westlake last year, but both years i felt going into the game that we would win.

Judson vs SV- 1 title 4 appearances by these teams in the past 3 seasons. They have played each other twice, Judson winning the first 30-15, SV winning the second 21-7. thats Judson 37 SV 36! Can't get any closer than that. Both teams are reloading heavily for next year, and this game should be very close.

week 3 Plano vs Carter. Plano's first home game. should be great atmosphere and game.

I don't know how good Westlake will be this yr., & I don't know if Abilene will be very good. The '04 Ab. Eagles were a great team---last season's Ab. Hi team was not very good (o.k., fairly good but defintely not in the "strong" category). This is an interesting matchup w/ Westlake this season, though. Ab. Cooper had a very good team in '96 but was demolished by a great Austin Westlake team (I think Dominique Rhodes was on that '96 Cooper team--he's now w/ the Ind. Colts as a backup RB).

I'm sure the Ab. townfolk would love a little payback, but my feeling is that 3-5A's best team this yr. will be Mid. Hi.--not Ab. The Ab. Eagles have been fielding some pretty good teams over the last sev. yrs., but I'm afraid this isn't the yr. for an Eagle--Westlake matchup, esp. if Westlake is fielding a strong team. Maybe we'll hear fm. some Ab. & Westlake fans who know more about the '06 version of these two teams than I do.

Right now, I'm not sure that 3-5A will produce a strong team in '06--probably a good team but not a strong one. I don't know how the Austin area will fare, but I'm not too confident about 3-5A producing a serious contender for st. this season. Anyway, these "classical" matchups are interesting for the fans to contemplate. I hope Ab. & Westlake both produce strong teams this season--it would be interesting.

I think last year took a bad turn for AHS. They weren't consistant and a great team exposed that. The question is was AHS really that bad? I don't think so. They just were exposed in a match up game they couldn't compete in (not too many teams match up well with SLC). We all knew AHS took a big hit on the defensive side of the ball last year. I don't see AHS as one of the elite this year but I still think they win district. As far as the matchup with Westlake, it wouldn't suprise me to see Westlake win that game simply because it'll be the first game of the season with a brand new QB. Look for AHS to pick up speed as the season goes on and expect them there in the third round again this year. Fact of the matter is, as weak as the Eagles will be I still think it's going to take an elite team to knock them out.

4. Lufkin VS. The Woodlands (always a good game to watch)

i dont think that a North shore vs. katy game is possible unless katy goes d1 this year.North shore has all its Non-district slots filled from what i hear. But your right it would be a very good game.

Do you mean Atascocita or Humble. Atascocita isn't going to have a good team next year. If that is going to be a close one then how good do you guys plan on being next year?

You will be a lot better off playing Abilene in week 0 than week 10.They will be young but very talented. We will be plenty good by the start of the season.Our coaches don t get enough credit for turning out one of the top ten teams in the state year after year.Remeber the only loss the last 2 years has been to SLC in the play-offs.Our coaches know what to do to get our guys ready for the upcoming season.And the kids expext to win and are willing to do the off-season work it takes to get ready.They have learned from the former players about hard work and committment.

Your right in that the Old Evangel would give any team problems. But this is the New Evangel and they are not 1/4th as good. They played 2 Texas teams last year in Longview and Texarkana and were completely destroyed. It might be a circus atmosphere but SLC should win by a huge score.

Okay I know this isnt exactly what you meant when you said best game in 06 but as a Lufkin fan everything is about getting aother shot at SLC in week 15.Yes and I know thats looking waaaay ahead but what match up if it could happen.

Aldine v. IKE. No matter the record, this is for bragging rights. With final scores less than a 7 point difference in the past 10 years, and last years 49-47 Aldine victory in triple OT. A sold out Thorne Stadium will be awesome to see, just like every other year!

Something tells me that Evangel would not continue to schedule these powerhouse non-district games just to get ready to play 1A Louisiana football.

They must believe and have expectations to be a good program again this year.

Lufkin will have at least 4 tough games this year, more than some may expect. I beileve Lufkin against Evangel, Eisenhower and Longview will be some great games to watch. Yes, I do think IKE will be better this year, you just can't keep that much talent down forever.

Let's not forget Lufkin vs. TWH on the road should be a big game, however Lufkin is absolutely loaded this year, too much size and speed for the Highlanders to handle

Katy vs. the Woodlands...
For early in the season this could be a really important game for both programs. One it will answer several questions for Katy at key positions and for the Woodlands. how good is your '06' team, really.

Katy vs. A&M...
After this game we will know who has the better team...the Woodlands or A&M.
