Would you have any interest in a slightly used D staff with D resumes?

Are you sure O linemen are needed? We do pick up a fair amount passing yardage. We could just teach the ones we have to count and let one of them run with the ball every now and then. In the draft pick up more D players.
I'd like to see them play out the rest of the year at Blivins Stadium in Amarillo.
Poorest bunch of mamby pambys I've ever seen.

The problem is, for the first time in several years, there is not a franchise player available along the oline. Furthermore, I can't find one projected for the top 10. There are two db's ranked in the top 5, though. Dallas has to hope they get the top spot and either Luck comes out or Locker wows. Then they can trade out of the pick and get a nice return. Outside of that scenario they either take one of the db's or negotiate multiple trade downs until they reach a point where the slot fits the prospect and focus on the oline first and dbs next. The latter would allow for acquiring more picks to use to trade back up for better players. Jone could have avoided some of this had he chosen to do this in the 09 draft. He had 12 picks and could have parlayed them into, say 4 picks and chosen the best talent. He was broke and didn't, though, and this team is paying for it right now.

Dallas will be lucky to win two more games. Detroit is the only solid bet remaining.

The funny part is that Detroit looks like the weakest link on the schedule, but they have always been able to beat Dallas for one reason or another.

By FAR, Dallas needs a Flozell Adams type OT, that doesn't false start.

You're right...this year there are 0 OLinemen that look to be even worthy at 7, 8, or 9. Of course someone will take one early...but this years class is ugly.
Dallas has to hope they get the top spot and either Luck comes out or Locker wows.
I dont see Luck coming out unless Harbaugh leaves Stanford to coach lets say the 49ers. :D If thats the case...he's the current obvious choice at #1...but Im not convinced that they would do that. Why would they draft a QB when they have one? Locker is a bust...gaurantee it. He is the annual guy that LOOKS the part...but not much to back it up.
Then they can trade out of the pick and get a nice return.
Unfortunately...unless Luck comes out...I dont see anyone trading up to #1 to take a CB or Defensive linemen....especially with the depth at each of those positions this year in the draft.
Cowboys IF they get the #1 pick will be in a very similiar spot the Niners were in during the Alex Smith draft. Noone wanted the #1 pick unless Leinart came out that year....niners wanted to trade out because they didnt like Smith or Rodgers at #1...they wanted to trade out and take one fo the two a little later. However they were forced to take that pick.
If Dallas lands the #1...I'm going to say they either trade out for less than what they want or take Peterson out of LSU. A big CB and convert him to safety somewhat like NO did with Jenkins a couple years ago.

why the HELL would you draft a QB when you already have tony romo in his prime?

I believe he is referencing it as significant trade bait. but it wouldn't be bad to get Luck. :)
I too do not expect him to come out in this draft.

I'm having a hard time finding one rated higher than the middle of the round. That's not an issue provided you draft that player around that area. You can't spend a top three pick on the 15th best player unless you are actually Al Davis, though.;)

My questions here are when does the CBA actually expire and what set of rules will the 2011 draft be played under? If this draft represent the last draft without a rooki wage scale I would assure you Luck will enter the draft. He's a special kid, one that actually values the education he's receiving. That said he and his family are not going to bypass the 50 million, guaranteed dollars he would receive as the top pick under the current format. If the picks can't sign til the new cba is done and will be subject to a wage scale then I absolutely agree he stays.
I'm not necessarily advocating the Boys drafting Luck in this scenario. What I'm saying is, if he's available, their position goes through the roof. Unlike some prospects, this is the golden goose. Luck is already a proven winner, plays the key position for the leauge, has every physical attribute, is off the charts smart and a good kid. Dallas would receive a very nice bounty for his rights.
Locker is all over the map. He'll cost a gm his job by the time it's over. 100% agree.
Unfortunately...unless Luck comes out...I dont see anyone trading up to #1 to take a CB or Defensive linemen....especially with the depth at each of those positions this year in the draft.
Agreed. The best they could hope for is that someone in the top 5-6 falls in love with the same player the team at 2 wants and bails Dallas out of this potential scenario.
Cowboys IF they get the #1 pick will be in a very similiar spot the Niners were in during the Alex Smith draft. Hindsight is always a killer. I can't exactly remember why Rodgers plummeted because going into that draft he was in consideration for the 1 spot. I know folks are leary of Cal qb's so that didn't help but what else was going on? Seriously, if Rodgers had been selected and was performing as he dows today, doesn't he fit the part of #1 overall qb?
If Dallas lands the #1...I'm going to say they either trade out for less than what they want or take Peterson out of LSU. A big CB and convert him to safety somewhat like NO did with Jenkins a couple years ago.
If they can trade out it may be for less than they want but they'll acquire additional assets. Jone needs all the ammo he can get if rounds 1-3, imo, if he wants to be able to pull of a quick rebuild in a few areas.
I like the kid from LSU and the kid from Nebraska. Both of those guys will be gone after the first 5 picks, imo. For the record, going db early isn't a poor idea for Dallas. It is just imperative they come out of the draft with several, real prospects for the oline.
I hate football. We agree too much. Dirk rules.;)

I'm not advocating Dallas taking him. I'm saying that if he is in the draft there is a consensus, cant miss, got every tool, wicked smart guy available who happens to play the most important position in the league. The value for that pick rises exponentially and gets Dallas a huge return. Bargaining power is what Im refering to.

93,
Unfortunately...from top to bottom this draft is real slim at OLine. There seems to be an abundance in the late 2nd to early 4th...but you know how that goes...teams will start reaching and those guys will suddenly be over drafted...and the guy you wanted in the 2nd or 3rd round is actually then next best OLinemen...but really a 3rd or 4th round prospect.
If Luck comes out...I totally expect my Niners to be one of the top 10 teams to be chasing that pick. Im just praying they dont take anyone but Luck...I hate hate hate this years QB class. I'd rather sign a FA like Vick, Kolb, or McNabb or continue to give Troy Smith a shot.
