Jason Whitlock doesn't hold anything back, and if you ask me, he makes some good observations that have nothing to do with Vince's ability...

My favorite line

Playing quarterback in the NFL is the equivalent of getting in the sack with Jenna Jameson. Oh, everybody wants to do it, but it can be an incredibly humbling and "short" experience.

I also have to agree with a lot of the things he says. I am one of the biggest Vince and one of the biggest Texas supporters, but what Vince has done since he left Texas is pretty stupid. I would not have been as harsh as whitlock, and I usually do not like what he has to say, but most of his column is right.

Yeah Whitlock is kinda a love him/hate him guy. He reminds me of Ralph Wiley, not in terms of the fact that they are both black guys and by no means am I saying he's as talented a writer as Wiley, but even though their columns might not be in line with what I think, they always make me approach something with a different angle.

I wish I could say the same for that racist Scoop Jackson.

I agree with him that the real good qb`s in the NFL are the ones that have studied their opponents, and know what every one does on the field, while he`s on it.I think at this moment yes he needs better advice from an NFL person. But,at the same time I think he will adjust, especially if he can learn from a good veteran qb.
The good thing is that most rookies dont start in the NFL,unless your team sucks, and the coach figures we might as well throw our rookie qb in there to get some real NFL experience. Is it gonna be easy for Vince,no,but it`s not easy for any NFL qb,ever. You never really just own every team you play.

Vince is not arrogant, as Whitlock claims, and he is, in fact, humble. He obviously doesn't know very much about Vince. Now, I do agree that Vince's choice of representation was not very smart, but he is the type of guy who would pick long-time family friend as his agent. It's not because he thinks he doesn't need a top-notch agent because he's arrogant, it's because he'd rather have someone he knows and trusts. Also, Vince probably didn't know the full extent of what to expect going into the draft. But, to make the jump and assume that is arrogance is awfully presumptious.

...And Vince didn't choose not to wear a suit at the White House, it didn't arrive on time. Now, maybe he should've packed it to begin with...maybe he ordered one...I don't know. I do know that he was supposed to have a suit there and it didn't get there. He was embarrassed not to have one and tried to hide out behind his teammates, but, whatever, people will believe what they want to. Obviously Whitlock had his mind made up and he won't let facts get in the way of a strong opinion.

I do agree that Vince should have done better in choosing his management team. At the very least, he should have hired a professional NFL agent/advisor to help he and his Uncle out.

Cue the 'champ-believes-Vince-has-no-faults-and-thinks-he's-God' BS...

I refuse to read anything by Whitlock and this will not be an exception. His writing is drivel and his constant pulling of the race card is idiotic. A white athletes farts in the general direction of a black athlete and Whitlock will devote an entire column to how racist that white guys was. It gets old real quick.

Kevin Blackistone is a good example of a sports writer who truly knows when race is an issue and he presents it in a good way (usually). Whitlock is an embarrassment.

Peyton Manning threw 81 interceptions his first 4 years in the NFL. Young QB's struggle in the league. Vince will struggle too...just like most. Also, like most, if he gets with the right staff and the right supporting cast, I believe he will do very well.

BTW, you can listen to Whitlock who probably couldn't pick up a ball, much less play with one. Or, you can listen to the opinion of former NFL QB and film junkie Ron Jaworski. Jaws was on the radio today talking about the couple of days he spent with Vince during the Maxwell Awards. An ear-witness account of what Jaws had to say on Vince...

Vince is a humble energetic QB who knows that the process of maturing into an NFL QB is a long process for everybody. He says Vince's maturity and humble attitude made Jaws very confident about Vince Young. He said he is coachable and hard working, two very important ingredients for a NFL QB.

So, you can listen to an idiot writer in Kansas City or you can take the opinion of a former NFL QB who now covers the NFL full time. That choice is up to you.

Ya know, this is one of the most idiotic statements ever. And it's not just you, it's a lot of sports fans. If we could only allow guys who are skilled at the sport report on the said sport, we'd lose the likes of great reporters like Peter Gammons, John Clayton, and others. Some of the best writers/reporters never played the sport. That shouldn't matter when it comes to writing/reporting.

Hell, Charlie Weis never player football period, you wanna go up against him knowledge for the game? I didn't think so...

I don't care if you like Whitlock or not, but this line is one of the best ever written...

If vince had chosen a good agent none of this would have happened because the agent would not allow it. I don't think it was because of arrogance as Whitlock says, but it does have to do with not realizing how important his choice for agent would be.
