When I heard they were signing a QB from a Texas 4A basketball school...I was worried...now I setting off the alarms. That's like going to Katy High to recruit a basketball player....DUH!!!!!!!

Only Jerrod Johnson can go over 200 pass attempts last season without a pick, struggle a bit the following year and be called a 2nd string QB. You do realize that even though Jerrod Johnson have 5 turnovers the last game he also accounted for 5tds? I am speculating he isn't 100% recovered from his shoulder injury and that he doesn't quite have the feel for his arm just yet.

Garret Gilbert has an INCREDIBLE arm, and lack luster play calling due to a lack of a running game to re-enforce his skill. Garret Gilbert will leave college football as one of the most talented to come through the NCAA ranks in decades. You just wait.

Gilbert has a sub-par line that has been grossly overrated for about 2 years now. McWhorton produces some of the softest Offensive Lines i have EVER seen come through UT. Second, our (and ill say OUR because ill regonize your Breast Cancer awareness UT shirt as legit) running back coach is a former QB. Since we lost our RB coach a couple years ago (Ruffin), we have been below sub par in that department. They just aren't well coached, and again...are about as soft as charmin toliet paper.

Sure its easy to say "Gilbert lost us the championship game"...if you are a ******* and want to grossly over simplify everthing.

Sure you can say Jerrod Johnson lost them the OSU game...but everyone knows that that defense still scored more points. Johnson threw 60+ passes that night. What does that tell you about the confidence the coach has in his running game? Hell the fact that he threw 49-62 is pretty damn impressive even with the pesky 4 INT's. He accounted for 5 scores and 5 turnovers, so he pretty much nullified his scores on any turnover that lead to a score for the opponent. but the bottom line, you can't expect your QB to throw 60+ passes and win the game for you all on his own. That is why in the Mike Leach era they were good for maybe 7-9 wins a season, but lost the ones that mattered. You can't put all your eggs in that basket. QB's can't win games on their own from start to finish, thats a fact. If you live by the sword you die by the sword.

3 state titles, makes you a football school. Lake Travis has a solid program, and produces a good number of Football Recruits...Especially on the Offensive Line. Katy would have struggled to beat Lake Travis most of these past years due to their offensive line. As far as not knowing Todd Reesings name, it wasn't because he is such trash i didn't remember it. But watch so much college football i get the names all garbled up, hell i called Denard Robinson Terrance Robinson the other day.

Todd Reesing was a very good QB for Kansas given that the was only 5'11 (if that really...he looked like he was pushing 5'10).

Gilbert will be fine, and he WILL make you look ridiculous.

Only Jerrod Johnson can go over 200 pass attempts last season without a pick, struggle a bit the following year and be called a 2nd string QB. You do realize that even though Jerrod Johnson have 5 turnovers the last game he also accounted for 5tds? I am speculating he isn't 100% recovered from his shoulder injury and that he doesn't quite have the feel for his arm just yet.

Garret Gilbert has an INCREDIBLE arm, and lack luster play calling due to a lack of a running game to re-enforce his skill. Garret Gilbert will leave college football as one of the most talented to come through the NCAA ranks in decades. You just wait.

Gilbert was the wrong fit for Texas from the get go. Texas only knows one offense. The one they designed for running qb's like VY and Colt. Had GG ended up playing where Chad Morris went, different story. Mack Brown pretty much killed his College career on so many different levels.

I thought he got a rough deal at UT. Started with the NCG. He should have had more PT beforehand except Mack tried so hard to get Colt the Heisman.

He's a system qb no question. Not denying that. SMU could be the right fit.

GG needed one thing from UT, a receiver that can catch. Those receivers were so used to catching softballs from Colt they had never seen a fastball before.

I'm a homer no doubt, Mack and UT don't have an "offensive system". With VY and Colt it was just put a good athlete at QB and let him run for his life. Colt at least had one receiver.

A system is what Sanford offense did last year, or what Alabama does on defense, that is a system. those kids did not play like that in high school, they learned that after they got in college.

Not one of the receivers GG had at UT will ever play for the NFL. A school that is top 5 ever year in recruiting failed to recruit a receiver that could catch?? how is that. fast yes they were, but could not catch. I would guess that more than half of the 17 interceptions GG had came off the receivers hands.

how is it a kid can go from high school and not have a problem with receivers dropping passes to a program with more money than GOD and they cannot recruit or teach a fast kid to catch??? heck GG would have done better at UT if he just had LT receivers.

Mack can sell tickets for sure but his coaches are not much for coaching. sometimes coaching is more about getting the most out of what you have than it is about get a kid to play a system.
