"Towel Heads"
Recently I received a warning about the use of this politically incorrect term, so please note: We all need to be more sensitive in our choice of words. I have been informed that the Islamic terrorists, who hate our guts and want to kills us, do not want to be referred to as "Towel Heads" since the item they were on their heads is not actually a towel, but in fact, a small folded sheet. Therefore, from this point forward, please refer to them as "Little Sheet Heads". Thank you for your support and compliance on this delicate matter.
Before anyone flips out over this...ITS JUST A JOKE.

Don't take this in an irritated tone or anything, I understand the joke but it really does make me mad when I actually hear someone use "damn towelheads" used to describe terrorists. Do I think terrorists deserve to have thier words and image protected? Hell no. But when someone calls a terrorist a towel head they have now put anyone who wears a turban into that same category. By calling terrorists towel heads, your not offending the terrorists, who couldn't give a damn what their called, but you are seriously offending the entire rest of the arab population who also wears turbans. And we really don't need to be pissing them off anymore than we already have lol. Just my two cents.

Not all arabs burn the flag and not all are anti bush. Dubai is actually a wonderful place with an interesting booming economy. You can't stereotype liek that. It'd be the same as calling me a KKK member based solely on the actions of other whites.

RocketTRN, good choice in holding your tongue. This is certainly not worth getting banned over. A wise man knows when to stand down and you just demonstrated that you are gaining an understanding of that.

Terrorists yes i agree with you. Not all arabs think of us as you say, but by calling terrorists, towel heads you are insinuating all turban wearing people are terrorists. However I think an innocent person as american arab shouldn't be condemened to such horrible stereotyping as what you do. We think alike....I'm the same way...but the fact is we are not the norm. 9 times out of 10 SOMEONE will get offended over SOMETHING.

Unfortunate but true. We live in the age of victimization. Everyone is a victim of society and nobody is responsible for their own actions. Instead we blame it on our parents, our neighborhood, our friends or the government. To quote the ever wise sage Jeff Foxworthy

I think that as a society we are being dumbed down. Kids are not being taught to think, they are being taught to recite facts that they need to pass a standardized test. This will eventually cripple our society. The smut kids see in music video's, on TV, and at the movies are teaching them many things that I do not believe in , nor stand for. God Bless America, Please.

The written word doesn't always come off as intended and context is often lost on the reader.
I think we would all be better off if we could take bubbacoach's stance, but the reality is that the vast majority of people aren't that comfortable in their own skin.
We, as moderators of this board, have to take a strong (sometimes seemingly ridiculous) stance against stuff like this, because we run a site representing many different types of people and if we allow these sort of racial, religious, or nationality based jokes...even the seemingly tame ones...to continue, and escalate, the site would turn into a mud-slinging, nasty place that none of you would want to visit. Think of some of the other boards you visit or used to visit. In order to preserve the community we enjoy, we have to put a stop to some things before they really get started.

You are right. People should speak out in such a way that they will be listened to. Please don't even get me started on the standardized tests. :mad: People talk about living in a Democracy and not wanting communisim yet they are content with sitting on their butts and letting everything happen for them. They don't focus on using the power they have yet they gripe about losing rights that they never even exercise.
You have the freedom to choose a job, so get off of your butt and work. You have freedom to vote, so get educated on the issues and vote. You have freedome of speech, so drop the street slang and learn how to form sentences, and be heard. You have the freedom to be a parent so BE A PARENT and stop expecting, teachers, coaches, gangs, T.V., videos, computers, to raise your children. Our society has become lazy. But it is up to people like you and me, and many others on this board to stand strong and teach our kids to take back the blessing that God did give us, America.
