That would actually be pretty interesting in my opinion. Each district winner gets an auto bid and each team is seeded according to strength. 32 auto bids and 32 at large bids. That would make for some heated arguments come selection time. I think District 6 would have gotten 3 bids along with District 14.

not a bad idea except NCAA uses 65 teams..not 64..they have that one playoff game to get in for 64 and 65

Good idea... Would alleviate the 2 champions issue...

However, it would lead to teams avoiding playing toughies during pre-district to keep their record shiny and it would cause much more politics to be injected into what's been thankfully a merit based system.

Since 4 teams will make it from each district now, how can anyone whine that the strength of their district was the reason they missed? If you can't finish 4th or better in ANY district, how can you make a case that you deserve a shot at the state championship?

I still don’t understand why they don’t eliminate the bye week from the regular season and just make it a 64 team bracket for all the marbles though…

Would this work for smaller classifications?

prolly not sense alot of the lower levels dont have that many schools. Traveling would be an issue also.

PAM wouldn't be no more than a 4 seed. :(

The HS Playoff format style that the NCAA uses makes a lot of sense, especially in basketball. In football, well why not? Simply seed each region. I suppose that it bothers me to see 2 10-0 teams meet in the first round of the playoffs while a 6-4 meets a 5-5 team. I think this underscores the stupidity of the 2 tiered playoff system.

what they need to do is have a NIT bracket. The top two teams(no matter what the size) from each district go to the tear one bracket and the bottom two go to the NIT. that way the state gets their "more kids need to experience the playoffs" fix and they make the some amount of money ...we fans will finally get what we want....ah the perfect world. C'mon... if the smallest team in the district can still win the district then we really don't need to split the tournaments based on size of school.

tell me if I'm smokin crack....but wouldnt that solve everything.

Why dont we get Lonny to draw up a bracket and make a 64 teams field. District Champs get auto bids and the other 32 are at large bids

I could go ahead and make the #1 and #2 seeds now....SLC the overall number one with Westfield, Lufkin and Katy the others. My #2's would be Copperas Cove, Longview, North Shore and Dallas Carter, just IMO

I'm working on a bracket right now ya'll. I am going to post my bracket, we can quibble over it, then hopefully set up some polls. I hope Lonny will get in on this.

The biggest problem I see, is the fact that there are only 10 games to watch everyone play, meaning the at large bids, how do you know who they are? Don't really think that you can figure out the mid and lower seeds very well without alot of heated battles. There are alot of High schools in Texas and alot of them that are at the same calliber of talent ability. I think after you get past the top 25 they all pretty much level off.
