I think 8-5A has as good a chance to sweep................again. Heck, i will even cheer for Allen and Main Sucks.

you mean hyped like Shiloh Christian in Arkansas hyped? No way, Allen has seen LV for 2 yrs. they know the talant level there. This will be a knock down drag out - Allen's gotta come ready to play because we know LV will!

He was talking about Arlinton Martin being overhyped I do believe.

That is what I was saying, LV will be a game. As for AM, just not sure what to think since they were #10 in state rankings at preseason. Now that Arkansas team was way over hyped, only 5A team they could hang with is maybe Jesuit.

You should be. I was waiting at the Kroger for mrs. pied to come out when I saw two pencil neck Marauders coming out of the store with mums. I ran up to them and yelled in their face taht only losers bought their dates mums at a grocery store and they were going to get their butt kicked by Trent Fuller and comapny Friday night. They asked who in the hell Trent Fuller was and I took their mums and threw them at the boy scouts peddling pop corn and accused them of being sympathizers as well. They all looked as confused as they will Friday night when the Vikes beat them on Firday night.
Got back in the car and bribed the kids to keep it quiet with mom for some candy.

If I were looking at teams with potential on the upswing or teams that are heading in the other direction, choosing between Lamar and SLC might pose an interesting dilemma.
I know how it starts. Some unexpected playoff losses, and then some struggles in the early season. At first you blame it on youth, but after awhile it's ok to admit. I know not seeing your team in the state top ten hurts. It seems like it will last forever, then all of a sudden your at the bottom end of the area top 20. That feeling will leave in time. It's ok, it happens to the best of us. Ask farmer. Things can change, keep you head up.
Maybe some defensive seniors who can't play in their home state will have parents who decide that your home town is the place to be!

I understand about Mesquite being first game in '02 and SGP being second but if you remember the SGP game we were ranked number 1 in the area, coming off of a 31-0 win over the defending state champs and feeling pretty good about our team again. SGP jumped out 14-0 and it took Paul Roy going roughly 75 yards on a screen pass in the 4th to win the game 21-14, from that point on Lewisviille lost close games to close out non-district to Midland Lee, PESH and the other one is escaping me. I could have sworn '03 saw 4-6 and '04 was 1-9. I say that because in '03 the fumbles came back and huanted us again and if I remember right we lost a very close one in Coppell or maybe that was '02. Who knows. But I thought it was the 1st year in the new district that saw Lewisville go 1-9 which was '04 and the year after Planosucks had gone gone 0-10

Well come to think of it, your band had no reputation at the time. Marcus' band was beating the LHS band so bitter feelings were had and Marcus was getting new band uniforms every year on top of new gyms every other year, so lots of hostility towards those two schools who wanted to come onto LHS property and play in their stadium

The nice thing about the West away game with Hebron is that their stadium is closer to everyone's (both teams) home than Clark.
I would say the pecking order of the Plano schools as far as special treatment has usually been East, Plano, West. After realignment, the pecking order is Plano, West, East. There is still one neigborhood that will get special treatment in deciding where their scholar-athelete's will attend high school.

FMPD Addressing Marcus HS Football Stadium and Homecoming Game Traffic
Marcus High School will host its first varsity football game at the new stadium on Sept. 10. While the Flower Mound Police Department has extensive experience managing special event traffic, the new stadium will present significant new challenges for the District and the Town as employees, parents, and football fans learn to navigate the new stadium. As the first game is also the Marcus Homecoming, a capacity crowd is expected. The police department has conducted meetings with the school district and Trinity Presbyterian Church to address potential problems and identify overflow parking. Police officers will be staged to assist with traffic and pedestrian crossings, and directive signage will be posted to assist all motorists and spectators. Motorists not attending the game are encouraged to utilize FM 2499 or Garden Ridge Blvd. as a north/south corridors and College Parkway or FM 407 as east/west corridors during the evening of September 10. The police department and the school district will continue to work together during future games in addressing traffic complications associated with the new stadium. In addition, the Marcus Homecoming parade is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Sept 8. and road closures for the event will begin at 5 p.m. The police department and school district would like to remind motorist to expect traffic delays on roadways around and near the high school during that time.
I'll be running late from soccer practice a little further south.

Very thankful we will be down in Arlington and not have to deal with any of this. The traffic will be heck all over FM. 1171 anywhere near Morriss and 407 is nightmare at anytime without a football game going on. The two side streets leading into the stadium parking are two lane roads.

And the Lewisville band wouldn't give us a fair share of profits concessions at Goldsmith so we had to have our own stadium! Well that and we had to wait 20+ years LOL.
Honestly I am glad to have to only drive 10 minutes instead of 18 min.:)
You will need 15 mins to find parking though in the neighborhoods surrounding the new stadium. ;)

No I think Lewisville and The Eddies just picked on us because we were the new kids on the block. We got their left overs and as newbies had to hand over all of the concession money to the two big dogs. So we picked up our toys and went home.

You're missing out on Al's Hamburgers, but that's ok.
I wouldn't go 360-30, I would take the Green Oaks exit (head east) and take that to Davis(left or south). You'll be right in the big parking lot at the corner of Davis/Lamar. A bit more scenic and likely less traffic. Plus you get to go down a big hill.

Yes, the first two games of 2002 were wins over Mesquite which was ranked pretty high that year after winning state the previous year then we barely beat SGP the 2nd game. Then we went to Plano East and got beat. 2002 was the year we got SLC in our district and I remember the 02 being so cocky that year. A bunch of them on the team that year thought they would walk over some people but it never happened. The close loss to Coppell was that year at their stadium. It was due to the pitch the QB made in OT and he threw it to no one. Year ended at 4-6 and our key win was a throttling of Marcus.
2003 started out bad as I remember we lost to Mesquite Horn, Carrollton Creekview and SGP (which had to be moved to Irving's stadium). That year we went 3-7.
2004 was Gage's last year and our first year with the Plano schools and that team was all heart and no talent which got them to 5-5. Our key win that year as I remember was a wild OT game vs PESH at Goldsmith.
2005 was the worst with our 1-9 season with us only defeating The Colony.

2002 was painful to watch for many reasons. Remember the drama with the Jonshons mother? Pulling them out of school and losing a RB and FB, Chris was the best back on that team. The cockiness started after the Creekview game in 2001, Lewisville destroyed them the last week of the season to win the district title and then went in to play a 3rd place FRidge team. The hype around a rematch with Mesquite was starting to build in the DMN but it never unfolded. That is still one of the best Lewisville teams I have ever seen and the very best defense I have ever seen. 2002 was just bad all the way around. TC beat Lewisville in a close game too. I remember the Coppell game and the pitch. Lewisville had like 5 turnovers taht night and they avg like 3 per game.
The '04 team did play on all heart and had some close calls and they beat PlanoSucks if I remember correctly:D

Yeah but Fossil Ridge caught fire that year. As I remember, they had two D1 recruits in their QB and maybe a WR? They actually played mesquite as I recall in the semi finals and lost. I remember being at that game at TX stadium and thinking it should have been us there. The arrogance of the team even led up to Gage in going for the win instead of the tying field goal to force OT. Oh well, I stopped dwelling on that season long ago, I can't start again, lol. Although I believe the 96 team to be the most dominant and the 99 team probably had a better defense than 2001 did.

Yup, Zach Dahman at QB and Michael DuPreist at WR for FRidge. Those two tore up the LHS secondary early. LHS finally recovered to make it a whale of a ballgame but too little too late. I remember the decision to go for the W instead of the tie, I agreed with it then and I still do to this day. We should have made the 2yards needed to win the game and couldn't.
I knew a lot of kids on the '99 team. Very good defense but IMO the '01 defensee was much better in the LB corp and secondary and they were definitely faster. All my opinion of course.

They built it up on to be level with the rest of the school. (was slightly sloped prior to construction) Best guess from what I have heard is they believe with all the rain and rushing water the foundation cracked water rose up from underneath. (We had approx 7.86 inches in about 4 hours over here.) This could be incorrect but that is what I was told.

Trip to Romania provides Hebron QB added inspiration
11:33 PM CDT on Wednesday, September 8, 2010
MATT WIXON / The Dallas Morning News
mwixon@dallasnews.com
CARROLLTON – During a church mission trip to Braila, Romania, last month, Hebron quarterback Kyle Aubuchon was struck by the poverty he saw. But what really made an impact, like a blind-side hit from a 250-pound lineman, was what the pastor of a church there said:
"We're just so blessed here."
"I was like, 'Are you kidding me?' " Aubuchon thought. "I mean they have nothing."
Aubuchon, a senior who led Hebron in passing and rushing last year, traveled to Romania with more than a dozen teenagers from Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano. They taught sports to children and also shared their Christian beliefs with them.
It's obvious how much the trip affected Aubuchon. When he returned, he couldn't find the words to describe it. Looking back now, he describes it as "very, very humbling."
"We had about 100 kids there for sports camps, and then we would tell them basics about the Bible," he says. "But I felt like we were just there to love those kids – to give them something. Because seriously, they have nothing."
Hebron certainly has something in Aubuchon, who threw for 353 yards and three touchdowns in Hebron's season-opening victory over Colleyville Heritage on Friday. He also ran for a touchdown, showing off the skills that make him a dual-threat quarterback like his brother, Brian Aubuchon, who was at the controls for Hebron's 4A Division II state champions in 2005.
At 5-9 and 190 pounds, Kyle Aubuchon is smaller than most quarterbacks. That's why some people underestimate him, said sophomore running back Dezmond Wortham.
"But he proves them wrong," Wortham said. "He doesn't back down."
And when Aubuchon gets knocked down, he gets right back up. Hebron coach Brian Brazil said he's the most intense competitor he's known, and without question, the team's leader. Not just because he's a good football player, but because of his character and the way he works.
"The kids just flock to him," Brazil said. "It's not something he seeks, he just has it."
This season, Hebron is going to need all of it. UIL realignment put Hebron in District 8-5A, which is expected to be one of the state's deepest football districts. But Aubuchon has a lot going for him, and since his return from Romania, he said he has a greater appreciation of it.
And Brazil certainly has an appreciation for his quarterback.
"We've got a lot of great leaders on this team," he said, "but I think everybody just looks to him as the backbone."

Update on Marcus
they cut away some of the wood floor to release the water and the gym was draining. Looked like Hunt Construction and a Blackman Mooring working on clean up of the gym.
Apparently the cause of the flooding gym was a pipe burst under the foundation.

Plano's strenght by far is its defense. gthe Mansfield Legacy game was a snoozer. No consistent running game, offensive formations way to predictable what they will run once they line up a certain way. Sorry to say this get a little pressure on Michelson with blitzs etc. and he doesn't respond real well.
If I was Allen in two weeks I would send the kitchen sink on every play especialy in Plano's pass formations.
Good news is we are pretty darn good in blocking kicks we have 4 or 5 already this year & Plano's defense in an age of spread offenses is pretty darn good. With May & Skinner clogging the middle and strong secondary and very good Linebackers who are fast and can cover they will stay in every game no doubt.
Very interested to see how they do returning to the scene of the last years embarrsement. I will be there to see. Because "I HATE ALLEN COME LATELYS" Talk about stealing a blue-print, Plano should sue for copyright infringement.

Steve is right, game was a bit of a snoozer but Plano D looked really good. Plano is good at blocking kicks but they need to work on kicking game. They had some stinker punts & missed PAT & FG Plano kicked in the 2nd half sure did look wide left but they said it was good.

There was no way to tell on the Plano FG from where the fans were seated. You're a long way away and at a bad angle.
Mickelson had 1 bad throw and that's how Legacy scored. He also had some really, really good throws too. The TD to Hoetger was perfectly thrown.
We had 3 defensive starter out, 2 runnning backs, and 2 offensive linemen.
There are some holes, but 2 weeks to repair and implement a game plan.
Yes, the kicking game needs to be more consistent.

I haven't been to the games, but I've listened on radio.
I am thinking Jaydon has been running a very vanilla offense, predictable and bland b/c the very early, very important Allen game.
It's like OU v Texas. OU ALWAYS has something radically new, on offense and defense, for the Red River Shoot Out every year since Stupie has been there. Hoping it's the same this year w/ the 'Cats.

In this district defense is what is going to win it because the offenses are so high powered. That's what is going to make Marcus so dangerous IMO, they have a very good offense and will just chew up time. Sounds like Sucks has their old defensive ways back?
Allright.
Mrs. pied was unable to come through with tickets. Had to speed to Arlington to pick some up. Luckily they held some for me.
FYI - The Martin-FM game is their home coming. Kind of dumb to play a good team, but also, Martin plays their home games at Lamar. Not that big of a deal except Lamar is the furthest school and stadium from Martin in Arlington.

This early in the season, normally I'd say it it a question of the quality of the opponant.
However, PSHS seems to be getting to the ball quickly and with numbers, and creating quite a few turnovers.
Usually, good defensive coaching and talent underly the reasons for this.

It was tough but am encouraged by how they fought in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Even the 4th. Our defense needs to find some consistancy and do it the whole game. I think that is fixable. I would love to know what the DC said to the boys at the end of the 1st quarter, whatever it was it worked. Like night and day.

That was definitely not the same Hawks team from last week. Horn is good. They are big, strong, athletic, and FAST. They played a great game and took it to the Hawks. Hawks shot themselves a couple times in the foot, but it was the BIG plays that won this game. Three LOOOONG TD passes put the "X" in the win column for the Horn Jaguars.
Hebrons offense still looked good, and the defense disregarding the big plays look awesome as well.
GO HAWKS!!!

Can Plano West share stadiums with the Hawks? You will hardly notice them because they have no fans and don't make much noise. Plano and East are tired of having them around messing up our schedules. :D
Big talk when the facts are Plano Sr. does not even have a winning record against West since they were formed in 2000.
I guess because you can't beat them at Clark, you may want to take your chances playing them at Hebron.

However to act like their attendance does not yo yo up and down with their record like any other team is total BS.

I detest all horns, but especially when it the other team's and going off all the time. ;)
My favorite is the UofH air raid sound they play when they score, and it was going off like paparazzi's flash cameras at a Britney Spears/Lindsay Lohan Drinking and Drug convention during the Texas State game.
They also play the cougar growl for first downs, and that never stopped until the quarter changes and halftime. Well, except for a few brief times when State had the ball.
I think these are some things that need to be incorporated into HS football, and lose the horns.

Believe it or not, I agree totally with your last statement and what Plano does when they do make the PO's is extraordinary :notworthy. They always raise their game to another level in November. However to act like their attendance does not yo yo up and down with their record like any other team is total BS.
Right now no one should be getting ahead of themselves in 8-5A or living in the past , some very good teams will not even make the PO's out of this district this year.
Wow. Nice post sir. You are right, especially on that last part. Major props sir:notworthy

Hebron brings a large crowd too. Especially for a relatively new school. But that horn
Marcus has a lot of support in their community. Last night was impressive. Marcus is one of those schools that is always good in everything and their community support shows why

Talk to the hand, bruthah!
Really not sure what your input is here or who or what Panther99 is , but you are definitely a pest. Who knows maybe I am really Brett Shipp
Back to District 8-5A > right now a combined 18-4 record with 4 undefeated teams and Lewisville is one point away from making it 5 undefeated teams. Really unbelievable

Our crowd was very small at Legact game. Surprised me that no more came but i do think we had 1 or 2 more than Legacy, it was close.

Agree. I wish UIL would revisit this and place the old rule back in effect.

Welcome to the board :)
SLCDragonfan has been told may times he is more than welcome to come visit us, his old district friends any time he wants. And just so you know you can go and post in any thread you want as well, that is why it is a public forum. Again welcome to the board, it is nice to see a West fan here. Congrats on your wins so far.
The Eddies fill out a home stadium as good as anybody. They packed in a 6500 seat home side last night and send 3200 over to the visistory side. Lamar had a 100 fans and about 120 between the band, drill team and their fans
I was going to say 200, but you may be closer. Pretty sad.

I cannot wait for District play. All these kids have played each other tons of times in 7 on 7, but rarely see each other with full pads. Its a whole new ball game. I would like to welcome anyone of you to the "Woodshed". It should be a great game every night throughout the District, but I like winning in front of the home crowd more. Especially, if we pack the stands like we did against CHHS. We traveled well this week, but didn't get the same result. District will be a battle, and I can't wait to see Plano Sr. again. Last year's game is still burned into my mind.
On a side note. Some of the Hebron and Lewisville HS middle school teams will be playing against Plano middle school teams this year too. Should be fun to see what the future has in store for both towns.

Thanks mom! And congrats on Hopkins yesterday, wish I could have seen the game, maybe I'll catch some highlights. Pretty big deal for a true Frosh. Of course I've touted him ever since he ripped us for 300 yards or so a couple years back. :):notworthy
By the way Jag fans, you probably already know this, but I saw on the HS scoreboard review that Millard holds the state record for most completions in a game at 50. Congrats!:notworthy
Another favorite player of mine, Burkhead, has anyone heard anything about him this this year?
For the PW folks, any word on what is up with J Jeffcoat? redshirt?

Thank you. Millard is special. It is fun to watch on Saturdays and there are a bunch of boys from the metroplex playing.

Were you able to see any of the game? How did he look? I always liked him when we played PW. The first year he was an absolute terror, you couldn't help but watch him. Last year we did a better job of containing him. He's one o the kids that can bull rush you and mow you down then reach over with his hand to pull the guy up, give him a butt pat, then do it again. Good sportsmanship.

He is actually transitioning to College ball faster than expectations. Not getting double and triple teamed is probably helping him, but he seems very much up to the challenge of this higher level. However it is really early and I am sure there will be times where he looks like a typical Freshman making the transition.

I am just glad to see him playing college ball and not creating havoc on the HS field any more:) The last two years we played them every other word out of the announcer' mouth would be "Jeffcoat on the tackle"
I wish him all the best and when he makes the NFL I can say I saw him play in high school!

That's because he was a non-factor. Didn't even have to double team him.
It was kind of funny that night. Several college recruiters were there on the PW side to watch him play. But, by halftime, they were all on the Allen side watching some of the Allen players.
Don't need no stinking PA system to see that. And we definitely have a PA system that stinks!
