Klein Oak has just come off a victory over ranked Cy-Creek which should push us into the top 25. Northshore just stomped Ike. Who wins?

This game couldn't of had came at a better time. Kind of looking past Kingwood, Klein Oak (stiff competition) is really going to help NS discover their true identity riding into district play. Its beneficial there is no recent history between these two programs so this should be a good one for everyone involved.

I want to know one thing does klein oak actually use that huge tightend and someone tell me about this runningback who is like 6'2 and 250lbs. I seen a highlight from the cy-creek game and I was like is this a o-lineman playing runningback. is he that good or are they trying to fill a gap.

Yes.....they use that big tight end....ask Cy Falls........Fatu is the runningback that was put into position last year. Since his addition into the backfield, Klein Oak is undefeated. They beat Westfield, Spring, Dekaney last year with his help. Fatu has great balance. Defense will have to stay home with him back there.

Yes, Max has a bigger role this year and he's stepping up. EJ was put in last season to fill a hole and has done a great job. He's not the fastest, but he's got some speed and a whole lot of power. Every game he drags opponents for a score. He's a natural linebacker, but a solid running back at the high school level. Tell your defense to eat their wheaties this week

Finally looks like our coaching staff is starting use the weapons we have on offense. Stevenson is just getting into his grove make sure to watch him Friday Night along with the opposite side wide out. I resemble that remark!:p
Falls certainly did not have the size last year to handle NS. NS just physically punished the team. We were missing several starters for next few weeks. Didn't get them all back until about mid-district and then they won out to make the po's. From the sounds of it this year, KO may have the size to deal with NS's.

I think JimmyCrackcorn was the one that said in and earlier post that Fatu gets tired in the 4th qtr. Man Creek got Fatu'd in the 4th. I would call him "THE ENERGIZER." He is awesome when the defense starts getting tired in the fourth.

They have the size........desire is what it will take to walk away with the win. Klein Oak has the chance to serve a wake up call on the rest of 13-5A. District play starts off with Klein Collins. No easy games this year. GO OAK!

EJ Fatu 12 carries 113 yards 9.4 yds/att
KO -- Eugene Estes 50-yard run from EJ Fatu 08:43, 4th.
KO -- EJ Fatu 22-yard run 01:25, 4th.
I would say they got Fatu'd.

So you were just playing cat and mouse when you asked about Fatu? Believe me.....we have all the respect for North Shore.......Klein Oak will have to be hitting on all cylinders to win. Y'alls qb will have to catch the "black hat" disease........receivers will have to be covered. Smash mouth football at it's best. Y'all have home field advantage. Oak will have to play good enough early to keep the crowd silent. Or as Dandy Don use to say....turn out the lights......the party's over.

You know there are signs everywhere down there that say no standing or loitering. And there are even constables down there who are supposed to be taking care of such people yet they would rather stand around behind the concession stand and visit with one another.
Now as for this weeks game I know about as much about any of the Klein schools as I am such most of us Mustang fans do. But some times its a good thing not to know what kind of team you are going to be seeing. As was said its good to see teams you've never seen before who may play a style that you haven't seen before. As for a winner of we show up like we did last week then it should be a good one.

I don't think so. North Shore has a history of winning......Oak will have to earn this one. If they play to their potential and use all of their weapons Oak could be 3 - 0 come late Friday night. If they think because of their size they have this game, they will get their butts handed to them. They will have to match physical with physical.......Oak has a lot of talent, but to get that talent all rowing together is the key. They could have put A & M away early....they didn't. They let Cy Creek hang around too long as well. North Shore is used to winning. It will not be easy. I do not think Katy was that good. They just caught NS and things went right. We will see.

I'm not entirely sold on this Northshore squad, I think if our defense brings it and contains some of that NS speed, we can handle this. Also, playing well on special teams is a must. Lets keep those returners in front of us...I don't want any special teams TD's going Northshore's way.

well by the way it is sounding you are not entirely sold on KO as well... i think the only teams i am entirely sold on to this point after only 2 games are Lufkin and Trinity.... NS is in transition.... we are a little smaller than we have been in the past... but the speed and swarming defense still is.....our next super group is our freshman.... but until then... we still have the talent to play with anyone out there.... this should be a good game... im looking forward to it... hopefully the rain stays away....

Understandable. After the beating from Katy, then a big win over Ike, we don't know what we really have. This week against Oak will tell a lot. I'd like to think the Katy game will have a sobering effect for NS throughout the season. Should be a good one this week.

As far as being sold on KO, there were some changes made defensively that I think did some good against Creek whereas we gave up some yards to those 2backs from A&M (granted, they were very good). The offense has been pretty solid so I'm not worried about them as much.

Figuring that Oak has won the first two games pretty much on the ground....I was excited to see the passing game and Baratti's arm at the Cy Falls Scrimmage. They open that up with that ground game....."turn out the lights.....the parties over......"

Klein Forest had one of the best kickers in the State last year in Jacob Decker, not sure who they have now. Is the Klein Oak Kicker new to Varsity this year? I remember the Oak Kicker last year would practice at Klein Memorial and I saw him kick a 70 yard field goal. Of course no rush and no pressure.
Klein has a new kicker this year...looks pretty good and based on past history will probably kick in the Big 12...:D

2 timeouts and adequate time remaining, Tory coughs up the ball on the goal line. A comeback was mounting and that killed the game. Too many turnovers, I had Copperas Cove memories (not nearly as bad though). Also, I noticed a trend, the defense excels when Fatu plays both ways, why the hell did they keep him to only offense this game.
A couple of points I was worried about were the special teams coverage (Stroble performed so well it really wasn't an issue until they got a chance to return a punt - momentum changer) and the ability to contain the Northshore speed is what I believe I said. ie: not letting the QB gash the defense like that. Overall, I thought turnovers weren't the biggest issue. That needs to change now. KC is knocking, and they play good defense. Not mention their coach could be the best in 13-5A (I wish we could say that about ours :/ )

KOfb92
09-10-2010, 11:30 PM
Northshore is faster, but I think competitively they're even. Win or lose, the score should have been tighter. If your kicking game was better and your QB had a little better arm you'd be set. I seriously thought Oak was going to comeback when we were driving at the end around the 4:40 mark, but then Tory fumbled through the endzone. He was right there too on the replay. The fumbled reverse didn't help a whole lot either. I need to look at the stats to see how many times KO gave the ball away. It wasn't pretty. You guys did a good job on Fatu, usually he can pound his way around, but he never really broke free tonight. For Oak, #84 Jon Lewis I thought had a great game on the defensive line.

NS has a very quick defense that is very athletic. Oak is missing that fast back to compliment Fatu an Baratti. They wore down Oak at the end. NS has a very physical swarming type defense. Tonight, NS was better. It would not take too much coaching to bring Oak to even. Take away those runs by NS's qb......very even. Katy must have caught y'all having a bad night or like I have said before........not everyone gets a Coach Joseph.....Oak needs one!

Hey if aint broke then dont fix it, it was working most of the night, and they are getting better each game, so I have no issues with it. Every game they are adding more to their offense, like tonight we threw alot more then we have the past 2 games.

I seemes to me that tonight Gibson kept going for the big play, the big pass, && the big catch! There were a number f times when he had receivers wide open but he went for the one down the field who was covered or other time he made his wide open receivers run down field to make the catch. Better decision making on his part could really improve the offense!

The score does not make it seem like it was as close as the Oak folks are saying. 21 point win is 3 TD's in my book.
The only thing I can say about the Katy blowout of Northshore is remember when The Woodz blew out Katy…it does not really matter come playoff time. It is how you finish that matters.

Typical....... 27 to 15 going with about 4:30 left in 4th qtr. Oak fumbles in end zone. North Shore capitalizes. Not to mention Oak's D causes fumble to start 2nd half. Oak lost two fumbles. Cannot lose fumbles to an improved North Shore team. North Shore very athletic, size and speed faster than Oak will face in 13-5A. They held their ground. Looking at the stats this morning Klein Oak had 20 first downs to Shores 13. But the score is what counts.

My thoughts on this game..... I think that NS played ok..... could have been better but cant really complain about coming out with a win....KO was a solid team... they are very big....and can do a lot of things... I think NS really started to wear them down in the end and was running at will.... NS had a large number of penalties.. definitely have to work on that... Fatu was never a factor... his first two carries inside he was met full force.. derrick mathews..and co really punished him every time he got the ball... KO QB is a very good player... anyone else would have been sacked 6 times in the back field.. but he was fast enough and heady enough to make plays and keep his cool.... That big TE was massive...he could run... and had some very good hands.. definitely a D1 guy....i think once NS was able to start putting pressure on the QB.. things really started going our way... he did beat us to the outside a few times but thats gonna happen...if KO had some sort of speed back out of the backfield to complement fatu..i think that would be huge... there was no threat from KO out of the backfield.... Gibson and to his defense.. there were about 3 passes that were right on the money that werent caught... two to McDuffie and 1 to Davis that would have given us moderate gains on those plays... so gibson was not totally off in the passing game.. he didnt have help from the receivers either....the TE up the middle was open all night... no way a linebacker could be matched up with him up the middle... we got it once..and it went for a TD.... gibson looked to be making better decisions as a QB except for the INT he threw.... hes making progress... this was a tough game.... but the NS defense.. as always, had a good game.. but we are known for our defense... thats why the comments about our chinstraps and how big fatu was and how he punished teams... i didnt think he could do that to us.... we are too strong defensively...... i thought this was a good non district game.... its how they are supposed to be.... NS has to fix the penalties problem..... the PAT problem is solved... now just the punting........ and the KO kicker.... wow... hes got a leg on him.....
oh and Earl Mitchell former NS mustang and current Houston Texan was at the game as well.... good to see him doing well.... hes gotten bigger since HS!....
