If the CBA is not extended by midnight tomorrow night (Thursday, March 2). Then players will be cut like no one has seen before.

Only upside to this is that there will most likely be no cap in 2007.

they still got what 2 seasons left to set it out? this all just 'pressure'...but should be taken seriously..the skins are hoping this doesnt happen with the huge cap they got..

Lol, the Skins technically ARE hoping this happens. Dan Snyder has practically orchestrated this. "The one that has the most to lose is the most pivotal in getting it signed".

If there is no extension for this year, there will be no cap next year.

yeah, i know the skins are against this (well somewhat, but im sure they'd rather have an nfl vs not) but they were wise and planned for it

True, Snyder's had his eye on this for years. As has Jones and McNair.

True, there won't be a cap in 2007, but you guys will have to cut 20 million in salaries to meet the cap at midnight Thursday. Snyder will lose a bunch of players to get what he wants? Not a good plan if you want to win this year or next. Minnesota, Arizona and few others have tons of cap room to sign players that teams like the Skins will have to cut. Heck, the Cowboys have about 10 million themselves. This could get interesting for the 2006 season.

Washington is in terrible shape for the near future. In fact, they may be worse off than any other team in the NFL. With all the contracts they have picked up, ESPN is reporting Washington is going to have to make so many cuts, that they are looking at having 20 rookies on their roster this next season... that's over 37% of the team with no NFL experience.

Don't be too sure. Washington won't have to cut as many as people think....watch.

They're not as bad a situation as the media wants them to be in. *Sigh* everyone picks on poor Danny boy.

For anyone interested, Brunell, Portis, Springs have all restructured and there are more to follow.

The situation is bad enough to force Dan Snyder to completely change his position on the CBA when the deadlock became apparent. Amazing how quickly your mind can change when your *** gets handed to you. :D

HAHA. Brunell makes me laugh. He sure can burn DBs with deep passes though, especially numbers 31 and 41:mad:

This could actually work out well for the Texans. If they know whats good for them they will do everything in their power to trade with the Jets for Abraham and a 2nd rounder. That way they get Abraham, draft Brick, use that 2nd rounder on a defensive player or another lineman (if Jon Scott falls into 2nd round perhaps?). They need help on the D, and a good pro-bowl vet has just been cut by Miami, you may have heard of him, his name is Sam Madison. Madison and Robinson would be a great combo and along with abraham would anchor that defense as it grows. I've been saying all yar, give Carr, andre, and Davis an O-line and they should be fine.

Actually I don't know the Texans cap situation. What situation are they in? are they over or under?

I'm sorry? Dan Snyder had nothing to do with the extension. I believe it was Tagliabue who extended everything.

Who said anything about Dan Snyder and the extension? I was referring to a couple of days ago when the players and NFL broke off talk and all this doomsday talk started. Prior to that, Snyder was adamant that the owners concede no more. Of course, at that time, it was believed the deal was about to be done. However, as soon as the sides split and Snyder started to see what his team was going to look like, he quickly changed his tune and started wanting to concede more to the NFLPA.

Black thursday pushed to black sunday now.I`ve heard that if there is`nt a deal made, and with no salary cap, that the salary cap might be history for along time.Meaning only the rich will be in the superbowl!Ala MLB!

There's no way the NFLPA will willingly accept a salary cap if the current one expires. That could be viewed as a good or bad thing. If your favorite pro team is New England, Tampa, Dallas, Washington, etc... you're in good shape. However, if are a fan of Arizona, Minnesota, New Orleans, Cleveland, etc... you're screwed.

People fail to realize that with the Uncapped 2007 season, the cap ceiling goes away as everyone probably knows, but what people dont realize is that the cap floor also goes bye bye as well. So now if the Cleveland Browns or the New Orleans Saints want to save some money and have a 2 million dollar total payroll, there is nothing to stop them.

I also heard on the radio something that I wasnt aware of (not 100% sure its true). But if the new CBA isnt completed and the uncapped season occurs, the teams that compete in next years Division series (Top 4 teams) can NOT sign any free agents, except the ones currently on thier teams. And the next 4 teams can only sign 1 free agent.

If anyone can confirm this that would be great.
Just some things that some people might not be aware of when rooting for this situation to happen.
