I used to be a big Astros fan but they have made that a non issue and McClaine can DIAF and EABOD. I understand trading Oswalt but now trading Berkman to the Yankees....:Censor:

My wife (a huge Astros fan) and I were talking about this last night. She said that where most teams start their race to the top after the All Star game Astros have always started their race to the cellar...never fails.

This kind of thing seems to be the trademark for the Stros organization.. They go in panic mode when a player has a slump and trade (what they think are the has beens), later to have them come back and wreak havoc on you.

Rest assured, Oswalt and Berkman will do their damndest to remind McClain of his own stupidity.

I remember plenty of years where the disastros have played great in the 2nd half. The Rangers do more fading in the 2nd half than Houston does.

Ed Wade is the biggest failure of a GM that I have ever seen in my life! He is totally killing this franchise and isn't willing to help this team improve. And old man Drayton isn't helping either. He is allowing Wade to kill his franchise and McLayne isn't getting off his @$$ to spend any money to build a winning team. This is so sad to watch especially when Lance Berkman went to my high school. This team will be going nowhere toward a good team until grandpa Drayton sells the team to a new owner who actually gives a damn about winning, not ruining a great franchise. No wonder Philly was quick to show Wade the door. What a total embarassment! And the sad thing is, Drayton got rid of Gerry Huntsaker who is now building the Rays into a serious contender. Stupid move! Im sorry for being so angry in this post but I am mad as hell over what the management is doing with the Astros! It's :Censor: pathetic!

Isn't Drayton doing what most owners do preceeding a franchise sell off?

Well I know for a fact that it would definitely help the team in the long run if Drayton were to sell the team. I have been watching the Astros for a long time. And its a shame to see the organization not retain some of its great players that have played for the team. For example, they could of had Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling in their rotation instead of letting them both walk to the Diamondbacks. They had Johan Santana in their farm system but lost him to the rule 5 draft and he has been a stud pitcher for quite awhile now. They had Carlos Beltran who could have been a very very good player for the Astros after having that good second half and that good playoffs with the team in 2004 when they got him from the Royals but they just gave up on him and let him go at the end of the season. Its a shame that the front office and the GM dont give the effort to try and retain some of the good talent that they have had over the years.

I've been around long enough to watch them let go of

Cuellar - pitcher - traded to Baltimore Orioles whom then won a World Series as a starter

Joe Morgan
Nolan Ryan

They almost gave up on Mike Smith until pitching coach Cluck taught him the 'fork ball' pitch.

The Astros have been a farm system club for the rest of MLB.

I agree with you there Carl. The Astros have a relatively weak farm system. If the Astros had a farm system like the Rangers do then they could be very much improved in trades. The thing is, most teams balk at trades with the Astros because in most trades for high profile players they always want the best players in the farm system. The Astros dont have any good players in the farm system. If they do, it would be very slim. I dont know what most Astros fans see in this little youth movement that the Astros are going through right now. Yes I really like the acquisition of Brett Wallace. The kid is probably going to be good within a year or two. But they dont have much else in the farm system to be excited about at least in my opinion. It is going to be a really long time before the Astros get back to where the really want to be. Its not looking too good right now. I think they might give the Pirates a run for their money for last place in the division for the next several years if nothing is done to improve the team.

I don't mind them starting over, ala the Florida Marlins, but it sure does seem like they're not getting much in return for the valuable talent that they had.

No they are not. I dont even know any of the guys they got other than Brett Wallace. They didnt even bother to get at least one solid player from any of teams they traded with and thats what really bothers me. Usually in a trade with a top player such as Oswalt they should have gotten the top player on the other team or at least the top prospect on that team. I see a long and frustrating rebuilding period happening for the Astros.

Ed Wade must think he's still in Philly. We give them Lidge...GIVE them Roy O.....and what $11 Mil....GIVE Berrkman to the Yankess and $7 Mill......and not even get their top farm players in return. Oh,well.....don't tell the Astros they arent supposed to be doing what they are doing..:D Must be the new hitting coach.

They have the Cardinals number this year. Although this little streak that they have going is nice, im still not buying it. The season is over for them but at least they got out of last place. If I were the Astros fans I would be thankful that the last place team title still belongs to the Pirates.

Bagwell has done a nice job with the young kids on the team and the team batting average has improved since the all star break. He has had a huge impact on Chris Johnson as he is second in batting average for rookies behind Buster Posey of the Giants.

As for Ed Wade....don't get me started on that :Censor:! He is a cancer to this team and needs to get his pathetic :Censor: out the door!

The lastros blew a 5-2 lead and lost to the Brewers 6-5 after Lidstrom gave up 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th while blowing the save. LMAO...the disastros strike again! :D

I've never been a fan of the Astros....don't know why, just haven't, not even before the Rangers got to the Metromess.

I will be at the October 2 game on Saturday evening, the next to last game fo the season....sitting in the nice seats in the second (Club) level about half way down the first base line.

One of the businesses on my route is owned by Drayton and the manager there gets me tickets to one or two games a year....he said it's no problem as there are plenty to be had.....;)
