Fact is, a nation that was once set apart because of laws, is no longer. A nation that was once set apart by those laws and enforced by those we commission to protect and enforce, are now meaningless and stymied by a new modern definition of the word FREEDOM. The word FREEDOM only works for those with conscience. A trait totally lacking in near half of the USA population and 99 percent of todays elected body and subsequently those who have elected them. I've never voted for a lawyer for any office reguardless of the party. They have the same level of esteem in my view of "conscience level" as that of 99 percent of car dealers, and 99 percent of auto repair shops.
