The canes have been awarded the rather dubious distinction of being the Most Hated Team in sports!! Not only that, that bunch of thugs managed to make the top 25 list twice!! Even more strange, they seem to like it.

I for one love the 1990 Miami team. Texas was on their shock the world tour or whatever they called it and Miami's players were quiet leading up to the Cotton Bowl game. It was great to see what they did to Texas and how they shut them up and pissed off the rest of America. Looking back I owuld have been dying of laughter if I was a bit older than 8 at the time

I still remember Robert Bailey knocking out the kick returner for Texas on the opening kickoff (Was it Grady Cavness?). Keith Cash and his brother Kerry, talked the most trash out of anybody leading up to that day, and on that day. The Hurricanes dished out an @$$ beating of epic proportions that day.

What's even more rediculous is that the Canes took their foot off the pedal.

I can't remember who it was that was knocked out but the article said that Baiiley told the guy he was going to knock him out of the game and then he did it on the opneing kickoff. Texas was coming off of a 28-27 victory over A&M I believe an they had vaulted all the way up to number 3 in the country. They were running their mouths from what I hear all the way up to that game and the Miami players ignored the media until game day. Once they took the field they unleashed all sorts of hell on the Horns. Couldn't have happend to a finer program :D

can you blame the in the last 30 years they were considered the most dominate team, they controlled the 80's a few less slip ups and they would have dominated the early 90's.

Miami is the reason we have celebration penalties what team could really ever accomplish what they did is what I'd to see and i doubt we will see it for many decades.

That 1986 miami team should have won but didn't hell penn state is the worst team to win a national title.

Come on.............. Penn State that year not only beat number 1 Miami in the Fiesta bowl, but they also beat at the time number 2 Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

BYU in 1984 or LSU in 07 are the the worst national champs ever.

Ding Ding, we have a winner.

'84 BYU barely scraped by a 6-5 Michigan team in the Holiday Bowl that year. Did not deserve the national title.

'07 LSU, two losses says it all.

Miami was well... Miami watch the game that was miami's worst game of the year imo they easily should have stomped PSU with minimal effort but didn't arrogance, cocky, and being cocksure is what got them a loss. Which was redeemed quite easily in coming years.

My argument isn't whether Miami was better or not. My argument is that PSU wasn't the worst national champ ever. They were undefeated, and beat the consensus number one(and undefeated) team in their bowl game.

That they did, but it was also a team that played their worst game of the season.

Out performed by Miami, Miami still loss, much like A&M a few years ago when they played Texas in 05. I still say or partially change penn state of that year being the worst/luckiest possible ntl chmp.

fyi bama was number 2 at the time, do you think they were after the 3 losses by the end of the season...

Obviously not, but they did end the season ranked 9th in the AP and Coaches poll. If they don't play Penn St. and instead play some patsy. They're 11-2 and most likely a top 6 team.

1984 BYU didn't beat a team that finished in the final top 25 that season, and that's including their bowl game.

2007 LSU lost 2 games.

I flat loved the Canes when I was growing up. That 1990 game you're talking about, well I watched that with my best friend, who happened to be the preacher's son. Most of the church was together watching the New Year's Day games. In a home full of Texas fans I rocked my Canes cap, snacking and laughing my way into several beatings later that afternoon.:D

Are you trying to argue 2007 LSU isn't one of the two worst National Champs of all time?

i would have said they got a lucky opponent, the fact that a half that top 10 crumbled that week and let ohio walk says enough, but i wouldn't say worst but probably tie them aroud with penn.
