Can't make a judgement with out seeing the whole tape but I'm sure not going to get bent out of shape. Deputy shouldn't have enjected his views but what he believes is none of my business. I don't think being a non believer would make you a bad cop though and I cetainly hope that being a believer isn't a criteria for getting a job...
The gay remarks are unfortunate but I would have to see how the cop was antagonized to understand the remarks...
There's more to this then we are getting right now and the news station was wrong in running it with out the whole tape.

It seems like most situations require that you say as little as possible. Just enough to get the job done. But, in this case we don't know what all went on and his job is to maintain control of the crowd of protester's and we don't know how well he succeeded at that...We do know he probably went into more detail than he should have.

Yeah, if you watch the preacher's bullhorn remarks, you see he may have simply been try to use control tactics, however inappropriate the language was.

Don't see what he did wrong. I'm guessing the full video would show that he was asked about his thoughts on religion and he gave his thoughts. No harm there. Although the "gay homosexual" comment was over the top all he was doing was asking if that is why the person with the video camera was filming him. It's unfortunate that this officer might lose his job because this religious group were somewhere they had no business being. Just my opinion.

obviously the guy was being sarcastic about the ghey comment but you can't be a civil servant ON THE JOB and start making those kind of jokes without expecting repercussions.

I don't really see anything to be punished over. The protesters were probably questioning his beliefs and talking shi.t to him as he was escorting him out. Petty stuff IMO.
