ESPN 97.5 the ticket in Houston started talking about best QB/WR duo in the NFL. Of course they were being Lonnyish and said Schaub/Johnson "and its not even close".
Who in your opinion is the best. Try to take a non-homer angle. I could easily say Alex Smith/Crabtree but I think without a doubt its...............
1) Manning/Wayne
2) Brady/Moss
3a) Schaub/Johnson
3b) Rivers/Jackson
5) Brady/Welker
Romo/Austin
Brees/Colston
Favre/Rice
Ryan/White
Rogers/Jennings
Palmer/Ochocinco
Flacco/Boldin

As of right now, I'd have to go with the duo of Manning/Wayne. The Brees/Colston duo is pretty strong as well, right along with the others that are listed.
As for the Romo/Austin duo, I'd like to see them do it again. Granted, these 2 have had a little bit of chemistry for awhile now, due to the fact that they ran scout team offense together before Tony was promoted to being a starter, I'd still like to see them do it again.
The Rivers/Jackson duo is killer but, Jackson will miss a few games. Malcom Floyd will have to step up. I like the Schaub/Johnson duo as well. Brady/Moss and Welker is probably the most dangerous but, we all know that Randy will take plays off. The question with Welker is that, will he be able to regain his '07 form? Some think he will and, I hope he does.
I think they're all good duos though.

Dont do it Dada. Please do not tell me you think Schaub/Dre are the best QB/WR duo in the league.
If the Texans announced today that they traded Schaub/Johnson for Manning/Wayne for one year only....you would be estatic. Not to mention that makes the Texans instant AFC contenders.

I see an often injured QB and a top 3 WR.
I'll give you Dre over Wayne but not by alot
but Peyton is three galaxies away from Schaub.
If the Niners were in the playoffs and the NFL said we could swap A QB/WR combo for those games...im taking Peyton/Wayne over Dre/Schaub without a blink. Noway I trust Schaub in that scenario.

If they traded for one year only, and they had to exist with the Texans rushing game and team defense, then Manning and Wayne dont see the field past 16 games.

Rushing Yards
Texans - 1475 yards
Colts - 1294 yards (league worst)
Defensesive ppg allowed
Texans - 20.8
Colts - 19.2
Defensive Passing YPG allowed
Texans - 217.9
Colts - 212.7
Defensive Rushing YPG allowed
Texans - 106.9
Colts - 126.5
Defensive Total YPG allowed
Texans - 324.9
Colts - 339.2
So with basically the same team defensive performance and a lesser rushing offense, Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne made the playoffs easily...probably could have been undefeated in the regular season...and went to the super bowl. :)

Yep! And, Romo led the NFC (3rd overall in NFL) in passing yards, was also top 5 in completion percentage, QB rating, turned the ball over the 2nd LEAST amount of times in the NFL overall out of all QBs. He did that while playing behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league and doing it while playing in one of the toughest divisions in all of football and yet, there are some who still says that he sucks.
Now you Texans fans know how I feel when putting up an argument for a QB that you feel is getting slighted.

I understand that Manning is a better QB than Romo but, what I don't understand, is that it took him about the same time to win a playoff game than it did Romo. Yet, there were still a lot of people claiming him to be the greatest ever before he won a playoff game. It also took him 10 years to win his first Super Bowl.
People will throw up the argument of Romo having T.O. and Witten, with Crayton in '07. Well, we can throw up the argument that Manning had Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark for a few good years.
IMO;
Harrison>T.O.
Wayne>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Crayton
Witten and Clark are a draw, with Witten being a better blocker but, Clark being a better athlete.

As good as Romo has performed at times, he has equally went south at times. Critical times (like the playoffs). Thats my knock on him, and I cant really place him on a pedestal above QB's like Schaub, Big Ben, Palmer, and even McNabb. For that matter, Dallas has been the only top seeded team in the playoffs to lose their 1st playoff game that year.
I find it funny that none of you will recognize the stats from last year about Schaub and Johnson, (they led the league, respectively) but then you back up your argument for Romo with stats.

Very true! I can see Peyton putting up atleast 5 more great years but, that also depends on what the Colts offensive line is looking like over those years too.
The Texans also need to start playing some consistent defense. Get that under control, with Schaub and Johnson putting up those numbers, then they could be hell to deal with.

This is where the frustration comes for many Dallas fans. Romo played well against Seattle but botched a fg snap. He was nowhere near the reason they lost to NY and we all know the MInny loss was on the line play.
As far as 07 Dallas goes is there any shame in losing to a team that beat the top 3 seeded teams in that years playoffs, all on the road? And what about that team, the NY Giants, who managed to lose in 08 the exact same way Dallas did in 07 but it never gets mentioned?
Many of us do recognize those numbers. They were a tremendous duo, maybe best in the league. We kinda morphed the topic a bit and started talking qb rankings, though. Romo can and has put up those same numbers while winning more games and staying healthy. Back on point no duo is Dallas has done enough to merit mention in this debate. Austin and Romo just do not have the body of work to qualify and Dez hasn't caught a ball yet. At this point Schaub/Johnson are the present and future with Manning/Wayne holding the best longevity edge. Fitzgerald will be breaking in a new qb and wont have Boldin opposite him anymore. He'll still be a beast but those are factors that I think remove him from the equation for now.

None of the above are Manning/Wayne worthy. Andre Johnson makes the Schaub/Johnson duo. Schaub has posted one winning year and 1 year of 4,000+ yards and suddenly he is more valuable than Manning.
I was waiting for someone to recognize why Houston lost more games than Indy last year despite having a better run game and same production on defense but everyone is busy homering it up.
Guess who is first in the league in passing 3rd down %?? Noone moves the chains and keeps drives alive like Peyton Manning. No QB in NFL history manages a football game every weekend like him.
Guess who was dead last in sacks allowed?? Indy was...and its not because they had a good OLine. Their Oline was horrific the last couple years. It is Peytons ability to read a defense, audible, and make a play early that saved them alot of sacks. Ryan Diem, Kyle DVan, Jeff Saturday, Mike Pollak, and Charlie Johnson were his starting linemen last year. Outside of Saturday who is old...that line is GARBAGE!
Guess who is at the top of the list in Red Zone percentage? Thats right...the Colts. Peyton rarely lets scoring opportunities go to waste.
In all Peyton Manning is more efficient way beyond passing yards stats than Romo or Schaub have been and will probably ever be. his football IQ is untouchable.

SO you're saying Wayne has played way more games than Dre(playoffs) and the numbers are almost even? Soo can we can imagine what Dre would do if he played more than 16 games per year? Are playoff yards included in these stats? Since the 03-04 season, Dre's rookie year, Marvin has played 16+ games every year since....Dre HASNT been to the playoffs, missed 3 games 05-06...and 7 games the 07-08 season.
Not counting games missed due to injury
every year listed the Texans played 16 games
Indy on the other hand

All Reggie Wayne and Dre numbers I posted are regular season only. I didnt add the post season numbers from Wayne.
I would also say that Dre being a bit injury prone hurts his cause. Hard to be effective when you are sitting on the bench.
Wayne also posted those numbers in a majority of years where he was the #2 option behind Harrison.

He actually signed a free agent deal this summer with my 49ers. Thats right ladies and gents....The Niners now have 2 #1 pick QB's on their team with Alex Smith and David Carr. They need to go out and get Jamarcus Russell to complete the trifecta!

Truth be told, I don't even think David cares to be a starter anymore. Wish I could sit the bench and get rich like that. LOL!
I think Alex will actually end up doing okay! His work ethic will keep him around, much like Rich Gannon's did.
As for Jamarcus, hell! This dude eats on the sidelines!

Carr is back home now....wont see the field in San Fran....Trust me on this...He will end up coaching a High School in the valley or back at Fresno St. on the staff
You are crazy on this one and you are trying to have it both ways.
If Manning is indeed 3 galaxies better than Schaub (and I won't disagree with that at all), then how much more impressive is what Johnson does compared to what Wayne does. Put Johnson with Manning and Wayne with Schaub and it might be more than 3 galaxies between them.
So I am fine with Manning/Wayne over Schaub/Johnson just because Manning is that good, but Wayne is nowhere close to Johnson these days.
