T-Bone was very good...cooked just right...
Meals and drinks...$65.00...
Best of all...it went to a national chain...that doesn't benefit the community...
And not to one of the mom & pop steakhouses...

We grilled steaks bought from the regional grocery store. Served with veggies from the local farmer's market.

The Prime Rib and Coconut Shrimp are actually decent. Except there aren't many Aussies that even know what prime rib is. They do not generally cut roast beef that thick over there. Nobody uses shrimp. They call it Prawns.

Well, if they are trying to be Aussie traditional, they fail miserably. First of all, you would have to eliminate all the wait staff and the hostess. You get there early to get a table. Everybody goes up to the bar to get a drink. Same with food. You order off the blackboard and take a number. A Friday or Saturday night at a really popular place can test ones patience. On New Year's Eve, if you're not one of the regulars, you can forget about getting a drink. You will be ignored.
In the grand scheme of things, I might like Outback better.

Each and every Outback is owned by an individual who leases/buys the rights to the logos and menus. They hire locals to staff the front and back of house. They buy their supplies from approved suppliers who are local to some community somewhere. Most likely a community in America or across the border in Mexico where a lot of our fresh greens come from.
Outback supports our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines is ways too numerous to count.
Our local Outback supports the Santa's Workshop charity on Fort Hood that gives toy to the children of soldiers in financial need during the holidays. It is the single largest fundraiser supporter of this charity. The owner (A LOCAL MAN) donates all the food and his LOCAL staff donate their time to the annual event which brings in about $10,000 a year to the program.
So, stop with the damn local vs national crap on here. And that goes for McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, etc. And to those of you who like Target better than WalMart...ask yourself why? And do you find a larger or more helpful staff at either store?
Shop in your local community. Keep someone employed no matter who their boss is.

For bread, you can't beat Logan's.
Come to think of it, I think Logan's Steaks slots in between Saltrgrass and Outback. Better than Outback not too far from Saltgrass!
Dang, if I get to town this evening, I may need to stop at Logan's!
Thanks a lot!

you both sadly missed the point of my post. i would agree with you that there are better steakhouses out there. lots of them. my point was that so-called "national chains" are many times owned not just by individuals but your fellow townsfolk. they are certainly staffed by them.
this was about chains vs local establishments. my point is that both are local on one level or another.
carry on.

Not a fast food owner. I own a small independent cross stitch and needlework store. So I am in competition with those large national chain stores (hobby lobby/michaels). That kind of makes me experienced with these questions, don't ya think?

Absolutely. I'm also sure that Carl and FB got it the first time. They're merely saying it has nothing to do with why Carl consumes ungodly portions of it and why FB stays away from it.
