Does any High School actually use the Run and Shoot here in Texas at any classification and I don't mean the Spread offense I mean the real deal Run and Shoot offense ran by Hawai'i and SMU?

I haven't seen any. I would imagine someone runs it in 4A and/or 3A. There have been some huge passing stats in the Valley in recent years. Maybe one of those schools is running it.

Watched the Run and Shoot with the Houston Gamblers(remember them?) and the Houston Cougars....I loved the Houston Cougars. Ware and Kingler were fun to watch.....I watched Ware throw for close to 400 in one half, and Kingler throw for 400+ in the second half....I watch the shootout with Matt Vokel when he threw for 690 yards....THAT was the run and shoot......haven't seen any High School run it on that level....the closet may have been Mission with Koy Detmer of Huntsville with Steve and Chuck Clements......not sure if they were true Run and Shoot teams though.

Stephenville ran everything with Briles. What people forget about the Briles teams is that they ran the ball extremely well. The 98 season is a perfect example. Everyone talked about Kelan Luker passing for almost 5,000 yards, but they also had a 2,000+ yard rusher that year at RB.

On a side note, Kelan Luker is probably one of the most interesting people in the world if you ever get a chance to talk to him. Real nice guy.

I wasn't even born when the gamblers played but I've watched some of their games and I love how they pass a lot but watching UH with Ware and Kingler is as good as it gets with the Run and Shoot.

Jack Pardee was the coach of the Gamblers and the Cougars, and later the Oilers....I was at the 95-21 fiasco against SMU. Those teams were great, put my favorite player was the RB, "C.Spoon" ake Chuck Weatherspoon, a Bowling ball with legs, about 5'7 200+ pounds. "JB" and "JB III"(they actually had that on their jerzey's) Manny Hazard and Jason Phillips at WR were fun to watch.

South Garland used to run a hell of a run and shoot in the late 80s, early 90s. Its probably what got me most excited to play football as a kid.

And are we sure SMU/Hawaii is running the same stuff as teams did back in the day? Are they running those short 3 step print outs?

Well I'm not sure if it's the exact same but Coach June Jones is the Master of the Run and Shoot at the College level and he takes it with him everywhere he goes

I have always enjoyed watching Briles coached teams.

If a team were to install the Run and Shoot do you think they could benefit from it? Mouse Davis said that it balanced out the playing field by relying on intellengence and speed instead of strength and size that some teams may have over small teams.

Only if you have players who make good decisions all the time and have the ability to back it up. The run and shoot can be a devastating weapon if you have the personel for it. If you don't, it can destroy offensive production. I think thats why it did better at the college level than at HS.
