Tuesday is Fat Tuesday, after that its 40 days and 40 nights without something what are you guys giving up?

I'm gonna bite the bullet this year. The past 3 years i've sorta joked around and said "i'm giving up brocoli". This year, I'm giving up coke, dp, and brown cola in general. I still get sprite because i need my carbonation fix and at least it doesnt stain teeth. Its gonna be a rough 40 days but at least i'll lose like 20 pounds:D .

Giving up soda was my new years resolution. The first week is the hardest.. it gets easier.

I don't think so... I gave up soda and fast food and haven't had one setback. I have a strong will when I set my mind to something.

I'm not Catholic (I'm Lutheran) but I still try to give something up, but I never make it.

This year, seriously...DRINKING....I'm gonna do it. However, this means I'll probably have to cancel the trip to Lake Havasu in a couple weeks, no way I could go out there and NOT get trashed.

I couldn't give up sodas or fast food. I am addicted to both so I can't give those up.

As a new years resolution last year, my sister did not eat chocolate ALL YEAR. I couldn't even try to do that for a year. Maybe I'll give up all soda for lent....sounds good

Coke Zero just tastes nasty to me, all those other products arn't the same as their originals. I'm not catholic either I just give something up to see if I can do it, and this year I actually want to challenge myself other than my anual giving up of brocoli.

As a factoid, if you think that Catholic Lent is hard, Eastern Orthodox Christians are supposed to abstain for about six weeks from all animal products, including diary, and fish. The only exception is for shellfish and other crustaceans. The week leading up to the start of Great Lent is know as the Cheesefare week, when meat is abstained from, but dairy is not.

Jesus fasted and prayed for 40 days and 40 nights. I honestly know of no Biblical precedent to compare the rules of lent. I know fasting is the closest, but a key part of that is the prayer.

I live on the road at times (Utah last week, Mississippi this week) fast food is a way of life for me. But I'm doing good at eating only the grilled chicken and the salads. I'm not sure I'm strong enough to give up DP.

ROFL. there were some girl scouts in front of walgreens a while ago, I just didn't have any money on me:(

SPEAKING OF WALGREENS: The Walgreens on the corner of FM 78 and Rittiman had a HUGE FIRE in their dumpster today. There were 2 employees standing there looking at it, one had a fire extinguisher. But this fire was out of control. It was already burning the fence around the dumpster. The scariest part, the dumpster was up against the building.:eek: They got it put out though, cause walgreens is still there.

You should always have money on you during cookie season. You never know when one of those evil little girls with the big eyes and sweet smile will attack you with a "would you like to buy some Girl Scout cookies". They are trained and ready to pounce. They even are gifted in the powers of persuasion. Even if you don't want any cookies you will start to crave them the moment you are approached. Even if you walk away without them, you will not stop thinking about them until you finally break down and have to get your fix. Then before you know it, you have opened a new box and eaten the whole thing in a short period. Save yourself time and stress, just keep money handy. You are powerless against the force.

Every major area has a cookie hotline. Just go online to find out what it is. You should be able to get cookies or find out where you can get them throught that number.
