So, do you think there are enough of us with guns that could go down to the border and kill enough of the border runners, drug smugglers and human tafficers to stop the flow? It is already stated by the admin that HE is not going to do anything about it. Should we? Could we?

My militia draft card has me ranked as 1H which means in the advent of an attack I automatically become a hostage. You wouldn't want me down there on the border.

that's not a joke, though. if people seriously start popping off cartel members and discuss it over an internet message board, they might as well kiss their families goodbye now.

i know this isn't a serious conversation, but i'm just putting my .02 cents in about how dumb of an idea it would be to actually do this.

I don't think anyone is seriously wanting to shoot cartel members ( except for Booster :) ) but after reading about them in the Houston Chronicle this morning dumping live bodies down a 500' hole doesn't give to many warm fuzzy feelings about cartel members.

The Problem is just killing a few would just get you into trouble. In order to be successful you would have to stoop to their level of violence.

Their will have to be a lot of killing done to make this situation right, or else the thugs will run/ruin the world.

And your point is?;)

Heck! We could get several of us together and set up a corporation (sorry, cougman) of guide services all along the border and run 3-day "hunting" trips and turn them twice a week. We would make a killing! And lots of money.;)

I think it will be terrorists that come across with SAM's and shoot down some planes. Once that happens, somebody might actually do something. Of course they could come across from Canada as well. That is a consequence of open borders.

There used to be a saying in the FAA: "blood on the tarmac". Once there is "blood on the tarmac" all of a sudden all sorts of things start happening.

The history of Texas and Mexico is full of violence from time to time. Read Lone Star by T.R. Frehrenbach or The Texas Rangers by Walter Prescott Webb and you will get an idea of just how bad it can be.

These are history books not novels. Killings along the border and across the border have been common place since Texas became a state. The only difference is that in modern times we in Texas tend to stay on our side. One of the Texas Rangers stated objections was to wipe out the Mexican bandits that use to cross the border to threaten and terrorize the people in the southern part of the state.

yea.... it's kinda funny. down here the rough riders aren't talked about as being heroes because the banditos and pancho villa would steal from the rich and give to the poor (robin hood style). the stories i've heard from the older generations is about how exciting it was when pancho villa rode into town on both sides of the border.

the cartels.... not so much. unless you're an outlaw, you don't really like the stress they put on the region.

I guess in a romanticized kind of way it would have been exciting. Men were allowed to defend themselves and did so on a regular basis. The reality of that time, it was a very hard life that many of us today would not be able to sustain.

The cartels are a different matter. They are blood thirsty thugs with little support except what they can buy and or terrorize people to give them. Not much love on either side of the border. The problem I see is they are way to confident and believe their own lies. Their machismo will let them go to far and that will be the end of it when there is an international incident that causes the U.S. to once again invade Mexico to clean up the border.

Texas unlike most other states except maybe Arizona will pass laws that allow it's citizens to defend themselves and the state is full of people that will. I hope Mexico cleans up this mess but I have little faith it will be able to get around the decades of corruption that exist. Let's face it, corruption and El Norta carries that country for many years until oil was discovered and then the corruption was only compounded more.

I also don't agree with Firebird on NAFTA. I think it really hurt the Mexican population and particularly it's farmers and poorest.

Anyway guy, I can see a time when this whole thing blows up and it will not be pretty especially for us in Texas.

The cartel guys have already shot and killed a rancher in Arizona. What does it take to say enough is enough? As long as most of us are living far from the border there is a sense of safety but the border is quickly moving northward. There are already terrorists (non-Hispanic) being caught and there have been caches of weapons seized along the border. It just takes the painfully numb to not realize when a war has been started. I just don't understand the Feds acting like nothing is going on down here and that there is no problem. Instead of seizing the bull by the reigns and defending this Country they only see fit to sue Arizona. What a pitiful administration we currently have.

The POTUS has already stated that he is not going to close off the border or take any action to protect the citizens in the area until he gets the comprehensive immigration reform that HE wants. Thus, underscores' suggestion that we citizens begin protecting ourselves and taking back our lands from the invaders. A well regulated malitia..........
