At least they aren't b**ches. I already had plenty of respect for OU and their athletic department, and i gotta say after this entire ordeal i have alot more respect for them. They had enough confidence in their athletic department to know that regardless of where they went, they would be just fine both athletically and financially.....yet they wanted to stay with Texas because thats how a rival should treat another rival. This call out is more directed at NU and tom osborne by the way, so no need for you aggies to jump on me for this.

Word!

A simple glance at the numbers (vs South) will reveal the reason those punks left the conference...

Since 2000 (10 years)

vs Texas 0-5
vs Texas Tech 2-4 (4 straight losses)
vs Oklahoma 2-5 (wins this past year and 01)
vs Oklahoma St 1-3

Granted, they do have a 6-0 record against Baylor and are 3-1 vs agrics.

That and the fact they were sick and tired of having to travel to Texas for the BIG XII Championship game.. led to their "departure".

I laugh at the people that think the conference got weaker with their loss... whatever, they havent done squat since 2001 and even that year they got pummeled by Colorado and ended up in the BCS title game (choke by Texas, cough).

i would say that they got owned in this whole proces, but in the end they will be making more money so they didnt exactly have anything to gain by leaving. They did show their true colors though ;)

Texas wanted to go to the Pac 10 right? Instead they ended up in the 6th best conference in the country. Never would have happened regardless of the money if aTm did not tell Texas to shove the Pac 10 up their arse. It would seem like everybody had to alter their plans. Of course I can never understand why Texas had to. They were going to the Pac 10 with their 'RIVAL'. What did they need aTm for?

so they could have their other lesser rival......

God im just kidding, some of you aggies seem really butt hurt about certain Texas fans "claiming" that yall arent our rival. Any Texas fan knows Aggy is just as big of a rival as OU is, its just that OU is the other big brother on the block so naturally its a more heated rivalry on the football field. And Texas WANTED to keep the big 12 together all along, but once NU and CU left, and Mizzou was flirting with the big 10, and aggy was flirting with the SEC it was obvious that there was no conference stability. But all along Texas wanted to stay in the big 12 for obvious reasons. And the 6th best conference?!?! so your telling me losing Nebraska (who up until last year wasnt relevant in the conference since 01) an CU all of a sudden drops the big 12 from being the 3rd best conference (behind the SEC and Pac 10) to being the 6th best? I find that really hard to believe.

SEC
Pac 10
Big 10
ACC
Big East / Big 12

Maybe 5th best depending on how you evaluate the Big East

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. Have you always felt this way about the big 12, or do you really think losing NU and CU made THAT much of a difference. I think you're undervaluing Tech (mike leach or not) OSU and maybe even Mizzou to a lesser extent. Hell, even aggy is a head coach away from being a consistent top 25 team. Texas and OU, unless they have a fluke year with a million injuries, will always be in the top 10. And out of Tech OSU and Mizzou, two of those 3 teams are always in the top 25. Next year will be the best year for the big 10 in a long time IMO, and the ACC well.......:D

Yeah, all Texas wanted was their own TV network and loads of cash, and they were going to get that by any means possible.

Part of the problem is Stoops or Brown would not schedule OOC games on the road against decent opponents. Gilbert is not a running threat and it would be interesting to see how the Texas offense adjusts to it. OU was never going to be that good last year even with Bradford.

Tech is more than welcome to start up their own network. They are also more than welcome to thoroughly enjoy the extra $7-$8 million they will have in their pockets. Or they could keep whining about it.

Its simply not feasible for Tech to have its own network in a city of 250K and won't compete with UT and OU networks in DFW.

I realize that were getting more money than before. Most Tech fans take issue with the "What could have been" part.

Lonny tells me that Tech has massive nationwide appeal. Just as much as Texas.

Im just going off of what i hear man. But then again, im sure i only hear what they want me to hear so what ever. It seems to me like outside of the $$$ it was in the best interests of Texas to stay in the big 12. So is the general consensus that this conference went from being 3rd best to 5th or 6th best based on losing Nebraska and CU? Cause i dont see that at all but i could be in the minority.

The conference lost nothing by losing Colorado. Nebraska seems to be rebounding nice under Pelini so that loss will hurt, but last time I checked they will be playing in the Big 12 this year. I would not put it as the 5-6 best conference in America.

Ding. Winner winner!

Promise of bigger TV dollars drove Big 12 survival (http://sports.yahoo.com/top/news?slug=ap-big12lives)

I have said all along, follow the money.

No one in the Big-12 has any balls...Some tried to grow a set only to find out it doesn't work that way!
