Every one knows how a program will look the next yr by what the magazines and the polls and the websites say, but how about from inside the program? If you are a HS football player right now, hows your team looking? Except for players on the RETURNING list whos stepping it up this offseason, and how are those RETURNING list players doing?

This is scary..most often when players get on here we have problems....

I gotta say this Katy offseason is surprising me, I did have my doubts but alot of players are stepping it up. Players are getting faster, smarter, and stronger like usual but they are also gaining the weight they need and a record or 2 has already been broken. We started the offseason looking like a 12-2 or 13-2 team but now look more like a 14-2 or 15-1 team.

Don't worry im not a cocky guy, i'm not even that great, i just know football. But you do bring up a good point. Players, please try not to sound cocky about your team, just tell the truth about everything.

Hopefully that 1 loss will not be the final game of the year this coming season!:) Good luck to the Tigers - a true class act program!

It certainly would not be a shocker to see Katy with a quality team once again....

Yes, almost as shocking as another 16-0 run from SLC! Both Katy and SLC have unbelievable programs. I don't give a c--p how many ahtletes you have in HS football, it's at least 85% coaching at this level. Every school in the state has athletes, some more than others, but only schools that have the coaches get the big trophy!

Thanks for the comments, by the way isnt Slc supposed to be going into the season #1 in the nation. Its so much more exciting to find out whos #1 ever since De le salle went down.

Man, I don't know about Carroll being #1 nationally, (not that it really means anything) the Dragons are really filling a lot of holes...they have reloaded before successfully, but it is still unknown if the Dragons will be a title winner next year..

I know my teams not that great but o well. I go to South Houston High School.
We have all but 1 person on OL returning, 2 recievers returning, our full back is returning, our backup running back who finished the season is returning, we have 2 out of 3 ppl returning on the DL, one of wich was a 1st district pick last year as junior, we have both inside linebackers returning one of wich i think is half man half animal he is 260 lbs runs a 4.6 and is only a sophmore, he threw 46 in shot put in freshman. We have our strong safety back (he got injured before season last year), we also got our free safety back, 1 outside linebacker returning who was 2nd team all district last year, i dont really know about our corner backs.
With all these starters returning, including myself, we are hoping to do a lot more than we have in the prior years.

Well, many people act like we went 0-10, finished last place and can not beat any team in the area, and would probably lose to the Bedford Jr. High 8th Grade B Team.
However that is not the case. With me being an actual former player, I think my outlook on my team stands tall above the rest.
Even though we went 3-7(or 4-6 in my opinion, that "loss" against Irving Nimitz was more of a few poor calls by the refs beating us than a loss), finished tied for 5th place in the toughest district in the state and beat a pair of impressive teams, I think there were bright spots.
7 of 10 games we outgained the opponent in total yards
6 of 10 games we had more 1st downs
6 of 10 games we either led or were tied at half
8 of 10 games were not decided until late in the 4th quarter
We played 8 consecutive area ranked teams and went 1-7
We played 4 consecutive state ranked teams and went 1-3
We played 6 consecutive teams who were undefeated at the time we played them and went 1-5
We did all this despite having known our offense and defensive schemes for about 3 months, with only a month or two to fully prepare, going from a run heavy to a pass heavy team, and a soft zone coverage team to a tough man press coverage team.
After you look at it that way, our season wasn't so bad.

was worried at the beginning of offseason because though the underclassmen are good athletes, they were plain silly.... but now they are done with that, thanks to a couple months of up-downs, air raids, and gut-checks... the coaches have correctly moved athletes to different positions to best fit the team, well atleast on the offensive side, we need a linebacker and atleast one or two more db's which will most likely come after basketball season will be done,
we are going to be great this year, no one will expect our QB to do what he will do this year... :D
