Who else in DFW could afford it?
The tickets for the 105.3 The Fan Father's Day BBQ On The Star are $45. Graduation has to be at least $30 and I assume Carroll fans will bring their own BBQ for the pre-ceremony tailgating.:D

I don't know any numbers, but Dragon stadium would have been miserable with all the construction mess and the turf area is covered by a black tarp which would have put the temps into the 100's. We aren't that big a school but our 600+ seniors will go out in style!:notworthy
To all who wish this was in the yard or the team thread, I'm just getting the word out. I'm sure this thread will die a natural death by tomorrow night.

Colleyville and Grapevine are at the Dallas Convention Center Sunday. It's probably not cheap. There's so many big schools it's difficult to schedule a place regardless of cost.
Maybe there was some horse trading with Jerry over use of the indoor practice field to keep the price down. I sure wouldn't want to pay the AC bill for that place although it's cool for the seniors.

I went to our CISD website where it is discussed, perhaps Jerry and company were willing to work with us as partners. I for one appreciate the consideration.
This is a testament to the relationship Carroll ISD has with the Cowboys organization, and we are appreciative of their offer to help us make graduation a positive experience for our Dragon families.”

Neh.
LISD graduates at UNT at the Super Pit. The place is packed not empty and gets very loud with all the cheering going on and everything else.
Think how empty a place like Cowboys Stadium will seem for a HS graduation.

Which once again, It coudn't stay in your own thread? You had to see to it to come announce to the world that you post it on the main board. Gotcha. I am sure just as many would have found out in your team thread as they did on this one.
Maybe I should spam the board again. Lets see. Plenty of school districts around. Let me see where they are holding or held graduation

We have TW at TW Pavillion where they braved the heat and didn't have to show their pussiness and move it indoors.
Lewisville and Denton ISD will be at The Super Pit in Denton but they have always had it there so we can't say they are avoiding the heat.
Planosucks ISD is at Dallas Convention Center

OMG! You are just so going overboard on this one! If I didn't watch Channel 8 news tonight when they announced the change or looked on the main board here I wouldn't have known about the change.
You should know better than to question their motives and actions! :D:p
I am as guilty as anyone for perpetuating Band Threads on the main boards here so it's not a big deal to me. I do think it is important for people to see all sides of an issue and understanding different perceptions and perspectives So for that Farmer you are spot on.

Garland's is at The Special Events Center off of Naaman and The Bush Turnpike
Wylie used the Allen event Center for their graduation. I think they play minor league hockey there and there is a Uncle Julios that shares the same parking lot
Frisco is using the Dr Pepper Arena. I think that is close to Stonbriar Mall and the minor league ballpark
McKinney ISD has held their graduation at the Baptistdome aka Prestonwood Baptist Church.

In all seriousness, CS seems way too big for 600 seniors. You lose a bit of atmosphere. SMU, UTD and TCU must have a 8-10k capacity bball arena.

I know that North Oconee County High School outside of Watkinsville, GA had theirs at the football stadium and Oconee County High in Watkinsville also had their at their on campus football stadium.
Cedar Shoals in Athens, Ga held their at the on campus football stadium as did Clarke-Central High in Athens. They went to Mo's Southwestern Grill afterwards to celebrate

As this was a very last minute change, I rather suspect that the father of an unnamed former Carroll QB currently playing for the defending national champions may have had some influence in making these arrangements. I have no knowledge that this is the case or not. But if so, on behalf of the graduates, their parents, and their guests, I am grateful for such influence.
While I do not expect any issues with seating, it would appear that Carroll will not have to reserve a seat for farmer. :D

I went to our CISD website where it is discussed, perhaps Jerry and company were willing to work with us as partners. I for one appreciate the consideration.
There is a good possibility that Mr. McElroy had something to do with it. He is a VP with the Cowboys and still has a student at Carroll.
I had been telling Mrs. Pants that I could not see how they could hold graduation at Dragon Stadium with the tarp and all the construction. It was a bit of a pain making a bunch of calls as folks are coming in from out of town but it is well worth it to be cool and what a great place, very special for the kids and I can tailgate........

Cowboy's offered the cool comfort of jerryworld for $7,000 and I guess the school jumped at it. There are still those just finding out about the switch so no apologies needed from me about putting it on here. I hope everyone enjoys their graduation...this is my last so I plan to celebrate with him and his class.

The tarp on the field had already been rolled up and the chairs for graduation already set up on the field before the offer was made from the Cowboys. The concrete work directly in front of the Stadium entrance had been completed to allow safe access for graduation as well. So, graduation could have easily gone forward there this evening. But given the temps, it is certainly worth the move to Jerry World.

Yes particularly for grandparents. We had scorching heat at the Pavilion but they had the kids and their families under the big canvas tent with the big ceiling fans going. Best not to chance it with the Texas heat in June. It could ruin a wonderful occasion. Guess the only question is what made the Cowboy brass offer it to SLC and not somebody else in the Metroplex who has to put up with the heat. I know McElroy works for them but the PC thing would have been to bring in one of the more economically challenged schools in DISD.

And you get to pick the day and time. The ones that go to the Dallas civic center or UNT are at the mercy of the schedulers. LISD picks a weeend and then all 5 schools rotate the schedule. Two schools each year are on Sunday. It does not make the church goers happy. My oldest graduated on a Monday evening with Edward S. following us at 8:00 PM. Hard on the family coming in from out of town.
So there are some advantages to having it at your own stadium but I would rather be inside.

The original point in this thread was to wonder why it was neccessary to pujt on the main board, there was no reason other than to show off or inform us of where they were going to get to have graduation as if to say, hey, look at me, we having graduation here and you are not. In the history of this board I do not ever recall having a thread to inform us of where somebody was grauduating from let alone posting it on the main football board.
Nothing about anything I said prior to the post earlier today was out of anger or displayed anger. The post that showed anger came long after being accused of being "angry".

Okay, fair is fair. I'll take your word as to your intent, after all, it is YOUR opinion/intent. Now...that being said, if this was any school besides SLC would you have cared where the change in venue was posted?
What if the change of location was from Carroll's stadium to, say, McKinney Boyd's stadium? It is a nice place, I've been there. Would that have bothered you as much as the fact that the Carroll ISD was offerred the use of Cowboy Stadium and GASP, was expected to pay for the privilege of using same?
I daresay the crowd was DWARFED by the venue and that they probably will have a great memory but the closeness of a smaller place was lost along the way.
That drgnbkr's son was one of the top 10 (dare I guess the top ONE) in his class may have motivated him to BE SURE ALL who wished to attend got word of the change of location beforehand but damn, to accuse that great achievement of being somehow due to 'daddy's money' is low. Even you must admit that.
And frankly, I would have put the damn announcement on the Carroll Dragon Fan thread, in the Yard, on the College Board, the NFL Board, the Game Day Board, and YES...on the Main Statewide Board. Just to be sure those who wanted to attend got the word. Not everyone comes into the Yard and that's okay with me. We don't need everyone here. I'd have let the KT's warn me about SPAM but I'd have posted the stuff all over the place.
Now, I am done with this. I'll go away from this subject after one more post. All I need is this pen. And this chair..........

You don't know me very well if you think this is somehow subjected to Carroll only. It wouldnt matter the school or the venue, if it was posted on the main board then I would have said the same thing. To somehow think this is only because it's Carroll is dumb, any school the ones I support to has no business telling people on a freaking football board where they get to graduate or anything else. KT agrees and thus moved this thread and has moved others to their appropriate place.
As for bragging about your kid, thats fine within the family, friends and others, but to come on a public place and do so,(this applies to anybody who does it not bckr in this case) well expect to be met with some who will congratulate you and expect to be met by some who throwup at the amount of bragging, not everybody gives a damn or **** about other peoples kids or what they do or don't do. This isn't the place to come and chest thump because guess what, we all have stories to tell, nobody is more special than the other. So keep that **** with the family and friends

The well meaning people at Carroll wanted the spotlight to shine brightly on this particular thread and there was no easier way to do it than bringing farmer into a pissing match over its posting location. It achieved the desired effect. Now all of you know about the intimate details of Carroll's graduation day and which kids out of the 2010 class did well. Good work and probably much cheaper than paying for some half page congratulatory ad in some local paper.

no, it was a change made 1 day before the graduation and many people were traveling long distances and perhaps going directly to the stadium as was my brother). I did not know about it until bkr's post, so it was very beneficial to me. I probably would have gone to Dragon Stadium. Should it have been on the main board? In retrospect perhaps not, but I believe Bkr was truly trying to get the word out to everyone.Sometimes our decisions are second guessed, sometimes they are wrong, sometimes they are misunderstood.
Everyone of course can think and say what they want. I'm having a great time this weekend and I hope everyone else is as well.:notworthy

so those who are traveling long distance use 5A as their source for information, not the parents or the people who invited them to such event? If that is the case then maybe some people are more heartless, selfish and other thigns than once though if they do nto think of it to inform those they invited of venue change.
Those who have kids that will be graduating are not aware of the place their own kids are going to graduate from? I highly odubt you needed this thread or this post to inform you of where your daughter would be graduating from. In fact you commented on the thread in the team thread before this thread was started so you did know before bckr brought it over from the team thread to the main board :)

I was coordinating their travel. Yep, his post there notified me (I know, lame on my part). I was not checking the Carroll website. We did get a call from the school district later in the evening. And the kids were talking about it when they got home. I did appreciate the earlier notice.
It's all done now. Carpe diem. or night as it twere.

Either way, good job on getting the word out. I had 2 kids graduate this year and at a pre grad reception that I attended at College Station, the kids were told to be especially patient with us parents as we tend to go overboard with our emotions and pride and for them to just this once, let us be jerky about expressing it. Not quite the word used but words to that effect. So Congrats to all the Carroll parents class of 2010 as well as all the others who graduated kids this year. And for the one or 2 of you who were kind enough to share with me in private the extraordinary accomplishments of your current and previous graduates, a special congratulations to you for both your child's accomplishment and your humility in keeping it private.

Thanks. I'm working on it right now.
We have TW at TW Pavillion where they braved the heat and didn't have to show their pussiness and move it indoors.
Lewisville and Denton ISD will be at The Super Pit in Denton but they have always had it there so we can't say they are avoiding the heat.
Planosucks ISD is at Dallas Convention Center
coppell also graduates at UNT
