Ok, I just went and read the newsletter and saw some inconsistencies...are we district 10-5A or 12-5A? I read at www.dallasnews.com that Wylie HS was appealing to get in our district...if this happens then what does it all mean?

The Garland schools and Rockwall are in District 10-5A.
The Dallas ISD schools are in District 11-5A.
The East Texas and Mesquite Schools are in District 12-5A.

Wylie is currently in 9-5A with the Allen, Plano schools, and Richardson schools.

There is no way Wylie wins that appeal. 9-5A has 8, 10-5A has 8. Why on earth would the UIL change that where it would become 7 to 9.

Wylies appeal was denied. The basis of their appeal was that the Plano Schools and Allen have 4000+ students - their coach said that it was a competitive disadvantage. He also said he expected to lose the appeal but hopes it will help Wylie to be placed in a different district in 2 years, much as it seemed to help Rockwall...

I really like the schedule. Some actual home, Friday night games at Williams! SG for homecoming. PESH at Kimbrough (what a great stadium!). Another Thursday night matchup at HBJ vs. Rowlett.

Man, I wish it was August already...

For Rockwall though, it was a travel issue. Wylie is in the Metroplex.

Rockwall was bigger than all other 6 schools in the district.

Hopefully there wont be a 50 MPH driving wind like the last time we played at Kimbrough!

LOL.. East is the passing team.. Since Garland runs and "throws" i'd like a 100mph wind. Who needs kicking anyway?

Well I agree that wind doesnt really effect our running game... but its not fun to watch a game in that kind of wind!:p

I remember that game, it was pretty insane. Whenever it was kickoff towards the north, the football would go through the upright.

One of my favorite memories of that game was when the Giant Inflatable Hat blew onto the field before the game, dragging two or three cheerleaders along with it.

Seems I remember a FG try going BACKWARDS about ten yards:mad:

Yep. we were sitting on the goal line at the south endzone, and the kick looked great, but was too high. It got to about 2 or 3 feet from the goal posts, about the height of the top of the goal posts, and it just stopped in mid-air and blew back and fell about 3 yards deep in the end zone. I believe the kick came from about the 13 yard line, give or take 3 yards. Amazing wind that day.

No one really needs kicking until you really need it! Man, that game brings back nightmares!

Ok, what's the dealio with Rockwall being the only home team at Rockwall's stadium? I guess its not common for different school districts to share a home venue, but its a bit insane when Rockwall will be playing all their home games on Friday nights on their real home turf and the other 7 schools in the district have to share 2 stadiums...

Sorry? Haha, can't really say much about that. When the Mesquite Schools were in the district, they were the home teams at Hanby or Memorial. Speaking of which.. 02 North Mesquite Vs GHS @ Memorial anyone?

I have it on tape - That defensive performance reminded all of us of the '99 team in the playoffs. Steve Richardson cut down Tarell Brown all night long by beating him to the edges - and Ta Ta Thompson (Before he became a poet) was a monster. And, of course, Taurance Rawls mauling linebackers and safeties for 48 minutes. What a performance - and a great job by the punter, too!!!

Then came Longview... :(

Just noticed some interesting things about next years GHS schedule:
1. Garlands home is Williams. We will play six games at Williams, five district games, but two of those district games, the Owls will be "visitors"
2. We will have one "home" game at HBJ.
3. We will play three district games on Thursday
BUT, we play South at Williams at "home" for homecoming on FRIDAY Nov. 3. Get your tickets early for that one!

Just think how crazy it could get if both teams had run the table up until that point!

Wow...I never even thought about the implications for a District Cahmpionship being on the line. This will be THE game in 10-5A next year...

grayowl shares some wisdom. The thought was, What if? Both Garland and South have some formidable opponents to beat to go into their game together undefeated.

But, what ifs are fun anyway.
