Did it happen? Was the law broken? I guess the stakes are getting higher for Nov...

If a Democratic member of Congress is to be believed, there's someone in the Obama administration who has committed a crime – and if the president knew about it, analysts say it could be grounds for impeachment. "18 USC 595, which prohibits a federal official from interfering with the nomination or election for office. ... 'If you'll get out, we'll appoint you to a federal office,' – that's a violation of the law."I say it is a reach at this point, but who knows where these things go.

I don't see the "I" word happening, but this is going to be a huge mess for the administration over the next few months...

Add on top of it how even the mainstream press is now calling them out on their apparent slow reaction to the oil leak, and it's going to make for a long summer for them.

I think it is possible that Sestak (sp?) may have had a casual (joking) conversation with someone and then turned that into an accusation/allegation that the offer was genuine.

He needs to poop or get off this pot. Make a real accusation or retract the one he has alleged.

I may not like the current administration, but dammit. I don't want to go through another criminal investigation of the highest order at this time in our history. Things are too tightly wrapped just now for us to have to deal with this. If it was an underling, time to fall on the sword.

I don't doubt it happened at all... Heck, they can't follow the simple rules of lawmaking, why worry about this little incident... Chicago politics at it's best...

Besides, we all know the only pair of balls are in the pocket of the Gov. of Arizona...

Sestak made the charge in multiple interviews before his primary win over Specter. Also, now that Sestak has advanced as the Dem to run for Senate, what would an admission of a trumped up charge do to his electibility?

then come out and provide time, place, participants, offer.

that would increase his electability as someone that won't do Washington as usual IMO

Others (R's and D's) agree...

"Congressman Sestak should tell the public everything he knows about the job he was offered, and who offered it," Republican Senate candidate Pat Toomey said in a written statement. "To do otherwise will only continue to raise questions and continue to be a needless distraction in this campaign."
And Democratic Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, a close ally of the president, said Sestak can't continue to lay out the charge without backing it up.
"At some point, Congressman Sestak needs to make it clear what happened," he said.

Issa said this allegation is bigger than the Senate race.
"For Joe Sestak, he can dance around it and he may or may not be a senator," he said. "But for the White House, this problem's not going away. Adm. Sestak is in fact a very reliable source."

His electability is probably dropping every day this drags on. Telling everything would only help him. Not that I want another Democrat in the Senate. But that would be my preference, not the desires of the good folks of Pennsylvania who were sick of Specter anyway. The folks in PA don't take kindly to the type of switch he made. Most of them don't anyway or he would have run away with that election hands down. He misjudged but that doesn't make Sestak the annointed one. He still has an opponent in November and if this is not resolved soon that opponent will laugh all the way to DC.

Calling for Obama to be impeached is almost as silly as calling for Bush to be impeached.

I don't think anyone is calling for impeachment, but some are pointing out that tampering with an election is a crime. And if the POTUS was involved it is impeachable. As I stated, I think it is a reach at this point. Sestak has to come clean before we can really determine if there was a crime, but the "I" word has been brought up.

Keep in mind, this was Dem on Dem over a R that changed to a Dem.

This. If there was a crime it needs to be investigated and prosecuted. If not, then he is a liar and the voters of Pennsylvania need to know that.

Sorry to disappoint, but this is an all Dem deal here. R's and D's, as they should, are asking for answers. Either Sestak or O will look bad in this deal. Carry on.
