UW will likely repeat, but you just never know.
The Huskie (ettes?) are 46-5.
Danielle Lawrie is 35-2, 20 shutouts, 3 perfect games.

I can see losing the first one at home, but then you lose immediately in the losers bracket at home? Oh well - I never saw any of them play all year.... and, it's all a formality - UDub will waltz to the trophy.

Aggies are also 1 game from elimination. Lost to ULaLaf 0-5 in game 1.
Speaking of UDub, did you know that to watch a Pac 10 football game at Husky Stadium is about 35.00 for single game tickets compared to 85.00 at Kyle Field? I might retire at the PNW and be close to some pretty darn good Pac 10 sports.

Tech has to beat UC Davis to stay alive in the tournament. The golf team is doing great today (About to win South Central Region on A&M's course), but unfortunately pitching injuries and suspensions are killing the baseball team right now.

Not exactly. We only need one more win to clinch a regional.
In the last game in the Baylor Series, the ump threw out our best pitcher for beaning a guy along with another starting pitcher who was angry about it. The ump gave no warnings or anything, it was out of the blue. Or "Left field" pun intended.
They are suspended for four games, yes, four games, while our favorite Baylor Basketball player was only suspended for two after punching someone.
I was there. It was horseshit. So now our pitching is very very thin.

The pitching situation was always bad, but Tech was overcoming it for 5 or 6 series in a row. They lost series at the end of the year to teams they should've beaten (Baylor at home and Nebraska on the road). It hurt a lot that they never had anybody to throw on Friday and almost every week they were having to bat their way to wins on Saturday and Sunday. On some levels, basic baseball says you can't keep it up, but Tech was beating the better teams doing it and it stopped in the last 2 series where on paper they had a little more slack. Tech had nobody for Nebraska this weekend after they suspended 2 pitchers on a staff that already had a bunch of pitchers hurt.

Were the pitchers getting squeezed as badly as it souded in that game? I heard that's what caused the ejection.

Tech's softball team ended up beating UC Davis and Stanford, but lost to Hawaii and won't advance to the Sweet 16.
In golf, Big 12 teams won 3 of the 6 regions (Tech, OSU, and UT). When you look at all the sports, the Big 12 does quite well across the board.

If this was coming from f18 I would believe it. But Lonny, how would you know? You aren't exactly in Lubbock or close to it and I doubt they had that game going on any TV where you are right now.

Our filming position is directly behind home plate so I had a pretty good view of the strike zone.
I usually just let the umps do their job but this guy was just not on his game that day and you could tell. The same pitch he called a strike three pitches earlier was a ball. Baylor had some pretty horrid calls against them also.

Hats off to the Lady Sooners for taking it to 3 games.

Poor Danielle Lawrie. Not only can't her teammates hit. They can't field either. 2 errors by the 2nd baseman caused 2 unearned runs. They're still alive but barely. Arizona up 3-1

One of the best games I've ever seen. UCLA over UA in Game 1 - 6-5, 8 innings. Three dramatic half-innings over the final two innings, including 3 lead changes and three hr's. UA was two bobbled balls and one strike from victory twice.

UCLA takes it's 11th title - beating UA 15-9. Wild game with 5 dingers and UCLA having to make one more charge after going up 6-0 early. I'll be surprised if the Wildcats don't take it next year.
