Most 5A concessions are terrible. Strake Jesuit has Chik Fila cater their games. Not bad and Waco ISD serves Blue Bell ice cream. Another not bad. I hate what is passed on as cheese on nachos. That stuff isn't any better than Gulf of Mexico sludge.

Carroll has Feedstore bbq :heli:which is very good plus we have sushi, which I must admit I still haven't tried on the general principle that it has no place at football games.

Am I the only one that really doesn't eat at games?
I'll get an occasional soda, but I usually eat before or after the game at a restaurant.

The kids will get a chick fil a sandwich. We usually either tailgate or eat out before games. We will get a drink and either popcorn or peanuts during the game.

Same here. Also tailgating takes care of the munchies pre-game. I usually only get water or a diet soda from the concessions. We gotta pay the refs somehow.

I'll eat a small meal before the games. But I will still usually grab a drink and maybe a snack somewhere around the third quarter (unless the game is too close to miss for a few minutes).
Our food is pretty good, but the prices are a tad high.

I don't eat concession food. Ever. However, I will say that the canned cheese used at Pennington Field on what they jokingly call nachos, makes a good sealant to use around your windows and doors. Have to give 'em credit for that.

I think with 41% of Americans obese....and 23 million diagnosed with diabetes, it's ok to offer a healthy alternative for those of us who don't want to join either of those groups.

Now I have snatched a couple of jalopenos off Mrs. Evol's nachos.

As a general rule I don't recomend eating at the games for several reasons this kinda being one of them. I lost ~50lbs in 07 and I have kept it off, one of the way I have done that is by picking 1 or 2 meals usually on the weekend to eat junk food, and eating healthy the rest of the time.

Austin ISD changed it up a bit the last couple of years. They added salads and sandwiches to go along with the regular fare. Also sausage wraps and the occassional chopped bbq sandwich is available.

Big question: will In and Out Burgers cater at Garlands Williams stadium? It will be only a few miles away. I f so will we see the "Mercedes, BMWs and limos" at the games?

I know that this is an old thread but wanted to clear up that at Strake Jesuit we do not have Chik fil A cater our concessions. We have worked hard during the summer on our concessions because we know that we are going to have some big crowds due to moving into 19-5A. We are grilling hot dogs, hamburgers, and grilled chicken breast sandwiches. We also offer Pizza from a local vendor. We are sticking to the basics. It's a concession stand at a football game, not a restaurant!
When you come to visit us I think you will be impressed on what we are doing for such a small school and a small concession stand.

That is the way to do it. Simple and good is the best way to go. I do have a question. If you have Chick fil A bringing in chicken sandwhiches why are grilling chicken as well?

I think thp is saying that they do NOT have Chick fil A.
I agree. Keep it simple. I hit my son's six man game Friday night in good ol Cherokee, Texas. I had one of THE best Frito pies I have ever had. I mean, how hard is it to make Frito pie? Extra Jalapenos, and a Dr. Pepper causes a Pepcid moment in record time!

I stand corrected. Should learn to reread before asking.
I WILL point this out. This KINDA meets the thread criteria.
While attending the Madison/Steele Football game a few Saturdays ago, the Concession lines were ridiculous. First of all, This brand new facility, that seats upward of 14000 fans, has ONE Concession stand, per side. One of our guys went downstairs to get some drinks. He came back 50 MINUTES later. It was like this, most of the day. Before the game, two kids from our group went down for cokes and water. It took them 40 MINUTES.

That is inexucuseable. It should take 10-20 minutes tops.

Yes, we switched from Chick fil A to grilling our own sandwiches. Keeping it to basics is best. We have a very very small stand but we try to move the lines at halftime. We have side drink stands if you just want to grab some drinks.
SV61, maybe I should add Pepcid to our offerings? LOL.

You ain't kiddin. Dollar a hit, and it would be worth it.
And, from my concessions experience, keep it simple. Trying to figure out how to make volunteers WANT to come back and help, is the biggest challenge. That, and communications with the vols.
Give em heck, thptrek!

Shotwell Abilene. They put beans and tomato's in the chile.
I tried the barbeque sandwich at Shotwell Stadium and really, really wanted to like it but could not. Rarely do I not finish a meal, but that one had no chance. Service was friendly, but sandwich lacks flavor besides smoke. Needs alot of Cayenne Peppersauce.
I grabbed a packaged sandwich at Allsups after the game and made it back as far a Pulidos in Eastland - another disappointment compared to the Stephenville location.
Moody High School Stadium where TAPPS has their Six Man state championship each year has by far the best $2.00 barbeque sandwich around, though not a sliced beef version... it is saucy, tasty, hot and fresh like the former Buzan Barbeque from Glen Rose... a wet barbeque with tomato/vinegar kick.
Avalon Volunteer Fire Department does a good job too at those six man contests including playoffs.
Midlothian Booster Club burgers are close to the top also, fresh grilled on a smoker, lean beef and Mrs. Bairds bun.
