That just goes to show how much things have changed. I actually used to get in trouble when my mom would catch me watching Benny Hill once the wrestling went off.

New school:
Will Ferrell
Jim Carrey
Any of those guys in Adam Sandler's movies but not necessarily Adam himself
Same with the Ben Stiller movies (his sidekicks per se)
Old school:
Steve Martin
Bill Murray
Eddie Murphy
John Belushi
Billy Crystal (especially when he did stand up way back when)
Richard Pryor (raunchy but funny as hell)
Lucille Ball (sorry, guys, I really do love Lucy and she was hysterical)
the young Jerry Lewis (he has inspired many a comedian, including Carrey).

I love to watch In Living Color reruns
the wayans bros + Jim Carrey
Ron White- because he's one of us( from Borger/ Fritch)and he gets in trouble as much as I do
Billy Crystal( obviously the old stuff) very dry, dark humor
George Carlin, Gallagher, Eddie Murphy, Rodney Dangerfield, Chevy Chase, Benny Hill, Monty Python
last, and certainly not least, God has a great sense of humor!

OMG Carl - how did I forget that group of fine young men (and one woman - who I believe was married to Eric Idle for a bit). Eric was my fave (nudge nudge, know what I mean) but they were all hysterically funny. Michael Palin was another fave.
A couple of years ago, the marching band was going to state and someone had The Holy Grail with them and asked me (the "mature" chaperone) if they could watch it. Of course I said YES!! Well, the band director has a rule that the movies must be PG or less. I don't believe HG has a rating so I "approved" the movie. Well, we all sat back and laughed our heads off (I was in the back of the bus) and the director's bus passes us and he sees HG on all the TV's. He has a FIT because it's not PG or below - we reminded him that it really has no rating...he thought it was too obscene for high school kids - hate to burst his bubble - they see worse than that in real life sometimes:)
They used to show Python and Beatle movies at a little theatre off of Westheimer back in the 70's and 80' (the Bijou) and we were there almost every Sunday watching that stuff with a packed house usually.

I guess he might have been thinking of the perilous situation that Sir Gallahad the Chaste faced with the virgins at the Castle Anthrax. I was always touched by his bravery when the other knights came to his rescue and he exclaimed, "LET ME FACE THE PERIL!" :D

:) :) too funny - it was that or the black knight being cut up so horrendously and then bravely yelling for them to come back and fight - or possibly, he was frightened by the Knights who say "nih" or the killer bunny.
By the way, Carl, what's the wind velocity of a sparrow?

The original SNL group was awesome...loved all the skits and the hosts were always good and sometimes very eclectic. We would spend Saturday night watching SNL, then Monty Python followed by Don Kirshner's Rock Concert:) My but we were a nerdy bunch!! Drill team girls and Band boys - too bad they don't mix those two any more - it made for a lot of fun.
Speaking of SNL, one of the early times I went to New York City (been there so many times, I've since lost count) I was coming out of Rockefeller and it was really windy and cold out and this guy comes running through the revolving door and knocks me on my *** - It was Eddie Murphy - he was like 19 or 20 years old. He aplogized and went on his way. I really didn't know much about him at the time - he had just started at SNL and was just the "kid" on the show...I was more concerned about getting to Penn Station to catch the train to Long Island than I was to talk to him.

If we weren't out at the local KC or SPJST hall getting our groove on, LOL, we were home watching The Country Music Shows, whatever Western came on next (High Chaperal and Loredo were my favorites), and then Wrestling. Once we saw the Von Erichs wrestle (mmmmmmmmmmmm) we would change it to SNL. But I never missed Midnight Special. See you weren't the only one living an exciting lifestyle. LOL ;)

Ha ha - sounds like my life!! Did you know that all but one of the Von Erich's are dead? They all died young. That was the only time in my life that I watched wrestling...even though my dad tried to get me to go down to the Coliseum to watch...just wasn't in to it. I did watch those guys though and that was the first time I saw Mattress Mac (from Gallery Furniture). He did a commercial during one of the fights.

Yes, the tragedy that plagued that family was terrible. I could not wait to see those guys every week. Funny story: One of them, Kevin I think was in a track meet where my dad was coaching a team. He was warming up on the Shot. On his first warm up throw he soared it wayyyyyy out there. They were all running around trying to measure it just knowing it was a major record breaking distance. As it turned out he was warming up with a girls shot. It did work though. Totally intimidated the other guys who threw against him.

I have no idea why he's not being given much credit in this thread.....but my favorite is Robin Williams. He's not only hilarious at stand-up but does well in movies, and suprisingly has played many many many other great series roles as well.
The old Eddie Murphy was good, and I also liked George Burns.
