How many years in a row has your team been to the playoffs?

My team did not make the playoffs last year (the went 3-4 in district, placing 5th).

We made the playoffs in 04, our first year in the UIL.

I believe we made the playoffs in the TCIL over 20 years in a row (I'm not sure of the exact years) until it disbanded in 1999. However, often we automatically made the playoffs, so it isn't saying that much.

my brother and i once commented how we couldn't imagine plano not making the po's now that they were taking 2 teams(not`quite right, i guess see 0-10). i really can't see kt ever not making the po's with 4 teams in. these po streaks may be what gets watered down the most.

You are exactly right d-daddy. Bragging about making the playoffs is not going to be worth it anymore. 4 teams per district what a joke. I guess we should rephrase the question to make it more of a significant achievement considering most agree that 2 teams is more then enough and fair. How many times in a row has your team finished 1st or 2nd in your district. In Lufkin's case it is 6 in a row and 7 of 8. 99 was the last time they did not make the playoffs at all. They went deep in 98 losing in the regional finals in the last seconds. Katy's 15 in a row is extremely impressive.

You are probably right when you look at their district. Still impressive though. I am sure Carter has a very high number in their horribly weak district also. Same with Westlake. Good to Great teams + poor district's = high number of playoff trips.

3 times in 4 years (school has been open 8 yrs) under our new coach, would have made it all 4 years but the first year he was there we tied for 3rd and missed out because of the tie breaker

Carter has qualified for the playoffs since 1986 (19 years), but had to forfeit part of the 1989 regular season causing us not to be eligible for the playoffs. It has been 16 years from 1989. Carter is in a weak district now, but for those that can remember when Carter was in one of the most competitive districts during that streak. We played SGP, GP, Desoto, Duncanville, and Kimball. Carter finished on top each of those seasons. I wish that we could have a more competitive district now, but it looks like we'll add two more years of non-spectacular trips to the playoffs.

Hey man i can relate now. Lufkin was always in the very tough east texas district but they are currently in a very weak district besides one other team, The Woodlands.

Interesting about Carter is that for years they have had 4A numbers but Chose to opt up to 5A, and still are damned tough usually

North Shore has been 11 consecutive years. They were a losing program before Aymond arrived in 1994. They went from 3-6-1 to 9-3 from 1993 to 1994 and haven't looked back since. Almost missed the playoffs in 1997. Lost to Humble (David Givens, Leo Mills) in the first round that year if I remember right.

I can't remember if Outlaw started in 94 or 95. In 94 Lufkin made it to the state quarterfinals in 1994 going div1 and in 95 they lost in the first round in div1. Lufkin did not make the playoffs in 96 even though they had a 6-3 record and they did not make it in 97 even though they had a 7-3 record and were ranked in the top 10 for some of the year. I believe those are the only 2 years Lufkin has not made the playoffs in the Outlaw era?? So if he started in 94 Lufkin has made the playoffs 10 times in 12 years during Outlaw's reign. They have not just made the playoffs though. they have gone deep more times then not. The only years they lost in the first round was in 95 and 03. In the Outlaw era, They have won state once, finished in the state semis 3 times, and went the state quarterfinals twice in only the 11 or 12 years that Outlaw has been here. He is loved and appreciated down here.

Making the playoffs just isn't what it was before because of the 3 teams going and now 4. How bout how many years your team won district?? Other then 02 has won since 92 i believe, and a winning record since 90(5-5).

Next they will get rid of the regular season and playoffs and just have one big tournament to crown the state champion. So all 260 or how ever many 5A schools there are will have a chance at the title.

I can see that happening when he decides to retire. I can see some flack coming from the Galena Park people you know the ones that complained about the stadium being built in North Shore rather than in Galena Park. Which I think would never have happened had it not been for Shore's turn around.

You may be right, but I think it would be named Ed Warken stadium. He was the AD that came in, shook things up, hired Aymond against a huge community outcry ( everyone wanted Starnes from CE King) and the rest is history. Either way it would be great.

too playa, I looked it up and it was Eisenhower who beat you in 97 bi-district. The score was 18-3. In 1996, you beat Humble 34-27 in bi-district. I was probably thinking of 96, but got things reversed score wise. Don't worry, you haven't lost to Humble. ;)
