It was actually pretty cool. The kids were relaxed but aggressive and ready all at the same time and the song captured that feeling. We went out and beat the team after a delay by more than forty points.

The speculation is that the Edmund Fitz encountered the wave had its bow driven under the waves and into the lake bottom and was subsequently ripped in half disappearing into the bottom of Superior in less than thirty seconds.

Crazy Story if you ever get the chance. 739 feet bow to stern, 75 ft beam, and over 26,000 dead weight tonnage. Disappeared from radar in less than 30 seconds no survivors. Still a mystery of sorts. They found the wreck in Superior years later in two peices under more than 500 feet of water. A captain in the area reported an unusually large wave in the vacinity that night that almost took his ship down. The Edmund Fitz captain was in radio contact and reported she was taking on water and probably riding low but that he was OK and would make port, he didn't. The speculation is that the Edmund Fitz encountered the wave had its bow driven under the waves and into the lake bottom and was subsequently ripped in half disappearing into the bottom of Superior in less than thirty seconds.
