View Full Version : Picking the schools in your district
StangBacker78

With all the talk of NCAA conferences realigning, if you could pick an 8-team district for your school to compete in (for all sports- not just football), who would you want?
Keep in mind that if you have only 2-3 schools in your ISD, you know you can't leave your brother(s) behind.

I would have to go with these for Trinity's district
Bell (of course)
Colleyville Heritage
Grapevine
Irving
Irving Mac
Irving Nimitz
SLC
This would be the "mid-cities" district.

For the 8 teams I would choose the 4 LISD schools and it would be tough after that.
For football I like where we were just moved to. For all around sports I might be tempted to add in Coppell, Carroll and the GCISD

And during my son's time at Summit, they were 2-2 vs. 3-5A (two wins over Lee, one loss to Lee and one very tough loss to Permian), so don't suggest Summit hasn't held their own against 3-5A.

If Humble wouldn't of dropped to 4A, this could be an excellent district for multiple reasons:
1) Bring competition back for the Aldine schools
2) Travel concerns
3) Rivalries would stay intact
4) If would put North Shore back with the schools that use to DOMINATE them in the early 90s, and they could dominate them now

The Summit head coach posted on a website that the '03 game vs. Abilene would be like a Semi-pro team playing against a junior high. after Abilene's first TD, the Summit KO return men were dancing in the endzone. Abilene won the game 21-10 I believe.
JagDad07
05-06-2010, 05:02 PM
Yes, 21-10. I was there - I remember it being a very physical game but didn't recall anything too outrageous on the field.
If doubt Tim Beck said that. Coach Beck is a friend of mine and that doesn't sound like anything he would say. Was it a bulletin board website like this one? If so, an IP trace on the posting would probably lead straight to Abilene.
So is that the extent of the "bad blood" - someone allegedly saying something on a website and some guys dancing in the endzone? There must be more than that - or y'all are pretty thin skinned.

Katy
Memorial
Cy-Fair
Klein
Westfield
The Woodlands
Kingwood
North Shore
Pearland
Strake/St. Agnes (have to be like the Big XII and have our private school- plus, half their kids are from the suburbs, anyway)
All these schools have been region champ at least twice (counting all sports) in the last decade. And, there would almost never be a let-down in any sport. The only problem- getting shut out of regional competition in sports that only take 2 playoff teams.

I like your North/South set-up, but how did the Okies get in there? Looking at historical performance, KHS and KF get in, and trending performance would get KC in there. Oh, you want them in there for golf... the money sport for the schools' coffers. Oh wait, golf doesn't make any money.
