Paying $4 to park at the Dome is not as bad as $7 to park at Reliant. The problem with the Dome was that the turf was so bad. Heck, the end zone and sidelines weren’t even strait.

But you could usually get to see 2 or maybe 3 games so it evened out.

You mean concrete isn't supposed to be exposed?
Everybody hates on the Dome, but I have some good memories from that old barn...50+ Astros games, bad uni's and all...many great HS playoff games...and one particularly "humid" December afternoon. The turf sucked back then too, but I just remember how cool it was getting to practice and play in there. I hate to see the Dome in its current state.

You know whats worse than the turf? Let me get started....locker rooms, anywhere from the field to the locker rooms, the elevator. Funny story about the elevator. When our charter buses first rolled up to our entrance (right by the trash compacter) last year my coach grabbed me and we ran off so I could figure out where everything was, how to get everything everywhere. We get on this elevator, and it shutters, drops, jerks then gets smooth. When we get to the bottom (field level) I come out of the elevator and there is a HUGE hole in the concrete wall in front of me. Anyways, there was junk everywhere, our locker "room" was in fact 3 rooms combined by hallways.
But the field is very bad also. While walking on it you think you are walking on concrete, none of it is even, and there are metal drains underneath and you know when you are on one.

Same with our home side stands. If you drop something, it's gone. I heard once that a band kid dropped their clarinet through the stands and the sharper end of it nailed someone in the head.

The stands at district stadium, they are actually proven to be unsafe by an engineer, and the penny pinching district won't do anything about it, even though it's used every weekend (Brook, Lake, Creek) is used for soccer (Brook, Lake, and Creek), and I think like a bunch of other sports and events. We even have our graduation there because ccisd doesn't have a big enough field house (if it rains we use creeks field house but its small so we have to split into 2 groups and graduate seperatley with limited space for guests). We fixed the field (got the smae turf the cowboys use now) but it took a flood and heavy rains to destroy the grass (my freshman year we played Brook and the field was 100% mud) and even then the district waited 2 years to fix it up, a little. The stadium isn't terrible but its definently in the bottom tier

Keller ISD stadium visitor side is too high and far away. Its like watching the game from the top of a 5 story apartment complex across the street.
The stadiums we played at this year were all great, I can't name a bad one. They are all new and fresh. UTAs Maverick Stadium being the oldest but was also my favorite. Irving Schools Stadium could use a little kick into it though its a bit bland.

Several have mentioned the Keller stadium. You beat me to it. Not only are the visitor stands very high and very far away, they face directly into the evening sun.
It's like roasting shoulder to shoulder in the blazing sun in a sardine can with every seat in the nosebleed section.
Nobody mentioned the HUGE cement drainage canal the runs directly under the visitor's side.
Two years ago at the Fossil Ridge game, a couple hundred SLC fans sat on the home side since there were plenty of seats available. The PA announcer asked us to move to the visitor's side which was over flowing with hundreds of people sitting on the grass and cement. At most stadiums the PA announcer invites fans to sit on the opposite side if one side is full. At Keller, that wasn't the case. We ignored him.

I say one of the worst is Turner Stadium in Humble. I am sure that the Katy fans can atest to the visitor parking and how much that sucks driving down that long bumpy road to find a torn up gravel parking lot that won't hold 500 cars. At that, the stands are virtually vertical, and the steps are very slippery when wet. George Stadium in Spring is bad for that too, plus, both the visitor and home parking are together. It isn't so bad when other teams play the Spring ISD schools, but when they play each other (Spring v. Westfield) they have a lot of problems as with any other rival. Sadly the Astrodome did have its day, but now no one wants to play there. Maybe IKE still wants to play there because if they beat you they still chant "Eagles to the Dome, (opponent) go home." :D

i think the poor hostmanship at kisd athletic dump errrr stadium is reserved for the hated neighbors to the east. it used to be much worse over there before field turf as it would flood in a heavy dew and from then on the grass would revert to mud/adobe bricks depending on the relative humidity.

I don't like the Alief I.S.D. stadium (Crump) affectionately called 'the dump at Crump'. You can't move around in the stands and feel like sardines in a can. They always seem to have only one or two people working the concessions.

I don't know if it's the worst stadium, it's probably been renovated since then, but back about 1990, I watched a game in Caddo Mills on the visitors side. You drove through a sunflower patch on a dirt trail to a clearing and there was the field. The visitors side was about 8 rows high and had no back rail, so you had to be conscious the whole game not to lean back, like you might at a regular stadium. Then, there was about 10 feet between the back of the stands and a barbed wire fence. After it got dark, about 100 cows came up to the fence and camped out there and "mooed" the whole last 3 quarters. It was one of the most memorable experiences in my HS football watching history and I wouldn't change it for the world. It will always be a game I remember. It was truly the Texas HS Football experience at it's best.

La Joya High School probably has the best stadium in the Valley, it is a really classy place, but I'm listing them here for one reason only--- CONCESSIONS!!!
I was at the Harlingen La Joya playoff game, and although they had some great concession stands on both sides of the field, they didn't open them on the visitors side. They made the Harlingen fans walk to the other side and wait in the most crazy line I have ever seen. What I don't get is why the hell they did it-- it was shooting yourself in the foot. A lot of Cardinal fans just forgot about the snacks. I guarantee you that the La Joya band boosters lost a few thousands of dollars by not selling snacks to their guests.

House Park (Austin)- almost no parking and if u do park somewhere else u run the great risk of getting towed...plus the stadium seems small and it is located near downtown austin where u dont wanna be driving on friday evening at 5pm to get to a game...field doesnt seem that well kept-up either.
Dragon Stadium(SA Southwest)- long *** drive to get there plus if its warm the darn skeeters will eat u up and fly off with ya considering the stadium is next to the river. Dont eat the nachos or anything else for that matter at the consession stand...

Aldine ISD is already renovating the Campbell Center. It has only been around for 10 years, but they are adding 2000 seats to the North end. This is bad because that is where the field house for Thorne is located. They said they are going to move the field house for this up coming season because it is too dangerous to have peole in it while they are working above it. I am still wondering where they are going to move it and how? Are they going to have portable building up at the other end zone? I don't know how that would work either because the buses that carry the band, drill teams, and cheerleaders for both home and visitor park in that small lot, plus the scoreboard is up on that hill. The bad thing about Thorne is that the planes take off over the stadium and it is really really loud. Especially with a Saturday afternoon game (thanks to Spring Branch ISD we have those now) and the major air traffic in the midday.

I agree Allen stadium is a erector set and it is a dump. Allen ISD and the community needs to pony up 20 million bond election and get themselves a 12,000 seat concrete stadium. That way the can keep up with the Jones i.e. Plano. It is cost effective to build that type of facility.
Clark Field in Plano was built for 2.5 million in 1977. It holds 14,222. Is still the nicest stadium in the metroplex. Home side is the same side as the vistors side. I never understood why new stadiums built recently have smaller vistor stands than home sides. For example SouthLake, Dentoon ISD, Highlander stadium although thats 25 years old.

OK, this is from another era, but back in the 70's we had a team in our district named Boys Ranch, outside of Amarillo. The week before our game there they actually held a rodeo on the field. The field consisted of dirt clods, sand, cow pies, and sand burrs. Those were the days...

yah i agree but, it probably has one of the best football atsmospheres in the area.
and about the new stadium there was a rumor a couple of years ago that we were going to build one right next door to our very nice facility in that open field but then allen started growing more and more and there became a need for more schools. so in the past year allen has added a new middle school , and a new elementry and there are expected to be 2 more new elementry schools in about 1 1/2 years, and the school board saposably decided that the new stadium could wait until all the schools were built.
there is also a new rumor saying theyre just going to rebuild around the field.

 Tap on the brakes. Clark is not even close to being the nicest stadium in the metroplex. By far. It WAS the best stadium in the metroplex for years. I would have to say Clark has seen it's better days. It is a nice stadium, but the consessions and bathrooms and locker rooms are way too small. The parking is good, but the district needs to pave the entire parking lot. It is also badly in need of a new score board and turf. That old astro turf is terrible for the kids. Unfortunatley they replaced it right before the new field turf came out. They have made several improvements like the road way from Springcreek has been replaced entirely. A new athletic office and ticket booth on the homeside have also been completed. I understand that a ton more improvements are on the way for Clark that will make it once again, not only the best stadium in the metroplex, but one of the best stadiums in the state.:)

The worst stadium I've ever been to is our home stadium.
The whole thing seats only 4,000. The home side is overfull almost every game (even more so for homecoming games and for our first home game against Bishop Lynch in 20 years). There is actually an unwritten rule that freshmen, sophomores, and middle schoolers are not allowed to sit in the stands--they must stand in the parking lots to either side of the stands.
The visitor's stands are the same size as the home stands, but most other schools are larger than us, so it is often even more crowded over there (however the Carrollton schools don't travel at ALL...when we played Newman Smith, they MIGHT have had 100 people in the stands without the band...and I'm not exaggerating). The stands on the visiting side occasionally fall into disrepair, which can limit the number of seats available (it's a steel frame stadium with wood instead of concrete, though the seats are aluminum).
When we have to play the larger schools in our district (particularly South Grand Prairie and Euless Trinity, both of whom we play at home next year), there will be major issues in trying to pack all of their fans into our stadium. I've seen the crowds Trinity gets at Pennington...there is simply no way they would be able to bring that many people to Jesuit.
Also, the visitor's side concession stands are at the far end of the stands, which can be an inconvenient walk if you are trying to watch the game, and the bathrooms are at the far end of the home stands, requiring an even further walk.
The parking is very limited...there are probably around 400 spots at Jesuit on game day, and maybe 400 at St. Rita Church. Other people have to park across the street, but have to be aware of the fact that it is very likely that the restaurants will have your car towed for hindering their Friday night business.
On the other hand, it's probably the best atmosphere you can find. The small size can make the atmosphere electric, especially during close games or games against hated rivals such as Coppell and Bishop Lynch. The field is also very high quality Field Turf. There is also 40 years of Jesuit tradition there, including 18 TCIL state championships.
I haven't been to very many stadiums, and I can't say I've ever had a negative experience at a stadium, but of the ones I've been to, Haggar Stadium is probably the worst. It doesn't make it a bad stadium, just not as good as Coppell's Echols Field or Carrollton's Standridge Stadium.
