It was to be expected...Pelosi's approval rating at 11% Reid at 8, obama t 43...60% of the public and climbing, don't want any part of the bill..somethings got to give.

Your 43% has turned into 48% with the passage of the health care bill.

The states will loose and they know it going in. This is an attempt at keeping the pot stirred. Keep it in the news, keep the masses under control with propaganda until the mid term. Clearly a ploy that may be effective.

Curious how many of those states have Republican governors up for re-election.

Of course they are Republicans if your a Democrat that opposes anything this President does you are told you will get no help from the Democratic party for reelection and are asked how much your support will cost?

I'll give that one- everyone in Washington does it and now our eyes have been opened to how much. I just hope the people keep watching.

Virginia went for Obama, sad to say, in the last election. Fortunately, she has seen what the costs of that decision have proven to be. But, in any event, the Govenor in the Commonwealth cannot be re-elected under the Virginia Constitution. We learned our lesson under the Royal Govenors and put in the ultimate term limit from the outset - one and done.

The law passed by the General Assembly prohibiting government-enforced mandatory purchase of health insurance was passed on a bi-partisan vote. Don't know about the other states.

well only 24 Republican Governors....so id say that out of the 39 states that will be filing, only a possible 24 could be Republicans.

Early on, it is in favor of the states. if they all file separate lawsuites in different circuits, their is a possibility that the judge puts a hold on any action on the bill until a verdict is reached. Which could take years.....you think their isn't at least 1 conservative judge out there? this thing is going to the supreme court baby.....

Bring out the pop corn....i got the beer.

Thanks to you and DrEdward. Should be fascinating to see how this unfolds. If I were to be, I'd bet it goes away somewhat quietly. Just a guess though. For clarification, I am saying the states' opposition, not the individual protests.

The states are being hit with the unfunded mandate. That opposition will not be going away soon. If it does you can bet Texas will, at that point, be finally looking at legalizing the state income tax.

The interesting thing is that I beleive it is against the 10th amendment, at least in theory.

look it up on wikipedia, then hit the link for 10th amendment center, their is some interesting reading. At first glance it looked like 80 2 90% of the lawsuits for things against the 10th amendment have come since 2008.

I like the idea of the federal taxes going to the states first then the states determining how much of it needs to go federal.

I think they should make the IRS agents come take it in 100's cash every payday so that the regular people would know how much their governemnt is costing them

under the current system they average person just buries their head in the sand.

Will be interesting to see what the polls show post healthcare bill.

The new poll was conducted before the House on Sunday narrowly approved the Obama administration's signature domestic policy proposal: health care reform.

Well, as all of the polls show, it is an enormously unpopular bill (60% -), rammed through by an enormously unpopular congress (70%+ neg), using dubious tactics at best...so we'll see.

By Slim Margin, Americans Support Healthcare Bill's Passage

Independents evenly split in their basic reactions, but more are "angry" than "enthusiastic"

PRINCETON, NJ -- Nearly half of Americans give a thumbs-up to Congress' passage of a healthcare reform bill last weekend, with 49% calling it "a good thing." Republicans and Democrats have polar opposite reactions, with independents evenly split.

The findings, from a March 22 USA Today/Gallup poll conducted one day after the bill received a majority of votes in the U.S. House of Representatives, represent immediate reactions to the vote.

Americans' emotional responses to the bill's passage are more positive than negative -- with 50% enthusiastic or pleased versus 42% angry or disappointed -- and are similar to their general reactions.

Although much of the public debate over healthcare reform has been heated, barely a third of rank-and-file citizens express either enthusiasm (15%) or anger (19%) about the bill's passage. However, only Democrats show greater enthusiasm than anger. Independents are twice as likely to be angry as enthusiastic, and Republicans 10 times as likely.

Bottom Line

Passage of healthcare reform was a clear political victory for President Obama and his allies in Congress. While it also pleases most of his Democratic base nationwide, it is met with greater ambivalence among independents and with considerable antipathy among Republicans. Whether these groups' views on the issue harden or soften in the coming months could be crucial to how healthcare reform factors into this year's midterm elections. Given that initial public reaction to Sunday's vote is more positive than recent public opinion about passing a healthcare reform bill, it appears some softening has already occurred.

Rasmussen: Health Care Opinions Divided by Party

Updated: Tuesday, 23 Mar 2010, 7:54 AM CDT
Published : Tuesday, 23 Mar 2010, 7:54 AM CDT

Tuesday President Obama will sign the health care bill, and later this week he'll hit the road to try to sell it. Scott Rasmussen has found in his polls on the issue it may be a tough sell. Rasmussen joined us from New Jersey.

The latest poll on health care reform shows that 54 percent oppose it and 41 percent support it. The poll was conducted a few days before the bill was passed.

When asked if they thought their prescription drug prices would go up, 43 percent of people said they will go up, 23 percent thought they’d go down, 17 percent thought they’d stay the same and 16 percent were not sure.

People were asked if states should be allowed to opt out of the health care bill. Half of respondents, 50 percent, said yes, 36 percent said no and 13 percent didn’t know.

Finally, Rasmussen asked voters if they would support a lawmaker who supported health care. Of the respondents, 50 percent said they wouldn’t, 34 percent said they would, 8 percent said it had no impact and 7 percent were not sure.

but you don't seem phased by them at all...So, I disagree with you! What else is new?:p It is pretty clear to a lot of us that this is a bad thing that has happened..but it is still America and you get to think it is a good thing.

Few days before.

Never said it was a good thing or that I was in favor. Haven't been convinced a bad thing at this point. Like most things, some good some bad.

More post signing information coming out.

WASHINGTON — Americans by 9 percentage points have a favorable view of the health care overhaul that President Obama signed into law Tuesday, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, a notable turnaround from surveys before the vote that showed a plurality against it.

By 49%-40% those surveyed say it was "a good thing" rather than a bad one that Congress passed the bill. Half describe their reaction in positive terms, as "enthusiastic" or "pleased," while about four in 10 describe it in negative ways, as "disappointed" or "angry."

The largest single group, 48%, calls the bill "a good first step" that should be followed by more action on health care. An additional 4% also have a favorable view, saying the bill makes the most important changes needed in the nation's health care system
