Who do you think will win the chase this year, based on what you saw today at the Daytona 500. Dale Earnhart Jr. is looking strong this year, and I think he will do well if he can get Truex Jr. running up front with him. Stewart will do good unless he gets into trouble by NASCAR.
As far as the Busch and Craftsman Truck series go, I am unsure as to who is going to win because there is not much coverage of them.
CHEVY will always DOMINATE NASCAR though.

I truly think Ryan Newman will have a strong showing this year. Now that RW is out of his way he can shine.
I just wish they would get away from those stupid restrictor plates. Let em' race. And stop letting the race end on a Yellow flag.

I have always liked jeff Gordon, I know alot of people hate him.
my wife was at the race, and everybody was booing Gordon, but they were giving Stewart hell for being put to the back of the line twice also. maybe it's just the winner they harrass, unless it's Junior.
I also like Jimmy Johnson and the Labontes( of course)- it was hard to remember Bobby was in the 43 today and not the ole green 18

Who does Tony Stewart think he is, playing bumper cars out there today? Wasn't he the one talking about "the safety of drivers' lives" earlier in the week? He sure showed a lot of concern with his driving...
It looks like Jr. and Jimmy J. will be strong, and did you notice how well Gordon did? He went from Top 10 to 41st in that incident with Stewart, then came back to 7th... until McMurray put Kurt Busch into the wall! He fell back to 36th, and in the last 14 laps came back to 26th... not too bad for having that much bad luck.

If you ain't bumpin, you ain't driving...LOL
I don't like Gordon much. But that is mainly because everyone else does. LOL I think he is talented. But I think the talent on the track is vast and some other drivers are finally getting some respect. Guess what, I am not a Jr. fan either. :D

I am a Gordon fan, but I'm not saying all that b/c I am. Stewart was also running very well UP the field, just not SIDE-TO-SIDE. The one with JG was understandable, but side-bumping Jimme twice and just plain WRECKING Kenseth wasn't exactly classy or safe...

Johnson and Gordon will be hard to beat. Newman will do real well this year, too. Martin is my sentimental favorite, but you know I have to be loyal to Bobby Labonte and Kyle Petty since they're with Petty Enterprises.

yeah, but if stewart didnt act like a jackass, the race wouldnt have been exicitng..it was cool watching the 'fighting' between stewart and other drivers..watching how stewart willed his way back to the front, it added 'drama' to an already exciting race

I'm a Gordon fan..he's just flat out good..I never understood the Earnhart deal..I guess you have to go back a few years to get it..I did like the Dale & Jeff duels before he was killed...2 different styles.if you got in Dales way, he'd just knock you out of the way. Yeah, he'd nudge your bumper and get you loose and send your nose into the wall. Jeffie is just as rough a driver as the rest......he is just better at making it look like "incidental contact", to borrow an NFL term.
Stewart, Johnson, Newman, Jr., and Sadler are my picks to win this year.
Kyle Petty and Bobby Labonte are my sentimental favorites....and Kyle is my boy. When he goes out of the race, I just tevo the rest of it and go do something else, most of the time.
I have 55 different paint schemes of cars that Kyle has raced in 1/24 scale diecasts. I guess that makes me a fan of his.

I'm kind of the same way about tuning out..If Gordon is'nt competitive I find something else to do..& I don't even know why..I went to my first race at Texas Motor Speedway for the second race last year..what a spectacle..I drive by the track constantly, but when Nascar hits town, it becomes a mid size city!

I was at Kyle's last win at Dover in 1995. I was telling Miss Kitty yesterday that the good thing about Hot Wheels sponsoring the Petty's cars was that you could always find their cars in stores.

The restrictor plates are important because those tracks run too fast without them.
The race ended on a yellow flag after it had already run over a few laps. There was a yellow flag that went through the end of the 200 laps and they ran 2/3 extra laps after they went green. NASCAR rules only allow this to happen once. So when the caution came out at the end that ended the race.

All I know for sure is that Chevrolet will continue its dominance of NASCAR this year. Stewart is riding around in a Chevy, and he came back to front a couple of times. Gordon moved up through the field with ease, when Jr. fell back to 21st he easily came back up into the top 10. Not to mention a Chevy won the race:D

I guess that you must have missed an incident early in the race when Gordon was passing Stewart on the inside in turn 2 and forced his way up the track into Stewarts front left fender and made both cars bump the wall. I've heard that some feel Stewart should have lifted and given Jeffie room, but this is a restrictor plate race, if you lift, you drop, it wasn't Tony's responsibility to lift on a plate race, it was Jeffies responsibility to not move up the track until he cleared Stewart. Did Jeffie get a penalty for rough driving? Is anybody mentioning anything about this incident? Nobody but me. It's pretty easy to focus on the guy with a record and forget the other offenders........NASCAR seems to think so too.

That early in the race Tony should have given room to Gordon.Tony and Jr both race erratic, jeff cant do what they do every once and while? The good thing is that they both overcame that incindent.
Kyle Busch was doing nothing that Tony was`nt doing, but Nascar lighty slapped tonys hand, for almost starting a huge wreck by pushing Kenseth out to the middle of the track, and then shooting back up the track!I dont mind that kind of racing as long as Tony gets hammered like Kyle did every once and a while.

That's also false. In plate racing, Tony can't let up there, because if you back off the throttle you lose so much momentum. He did nothing wrong in that wreck, he was just holding his line and keeping his momentum.
sidenote: NASCAR In Car PPV was giving a preview last week, and I was watching Tony's in car cam and you get to listen to the radio, man, after he almost got in a wreck those two times it was funny to listen to him on the radio.

.......just like he needs folks to ignore the wrongs of others and blame everything on him. I'm no Stewart fan, I'm a Petty fan, but if you saw the whole race, and by your comments I assume you couldn't have, I believe Tony just said to himself at some point in the race, "OK, we talked about this, everybody said they would try to be better, NASCAR said they would enforce penalties, and if everybody's going against their word.....well the gloves are coming off".

It's important to remember that Daytona and Talladega are only 4 races on a long schedule and are a very different animal. I would hardly start arguing over whos gonna have the better year based on how they finshed at Daytona, remember especially that drivers that win Daytona are usually cursed the rest of the year.
Based on Cali yesterday I expect another strong year from the Roush cars as well as ther Hendricks. Look for the Miller Car and Kurt Bush to be good this year, apparently the only thing holding that team down was Rusty Wallace (as much as I hate to say). After Johnson's 1-2 punch I would put him in early contention for the championship but it will take along time until I say a daytona winner is gonna be the champion. Mears is currently 2nd and has a good team but he's not championship material just yet. I'm seeing a battle between Bush, Gordon, Keneseth, and Stewart for the most part all year. Carl Edwards, Mears, Johnson, Martin, Junior, and McMurray will be up there but I just don't see them as champions yet.
