The big question I have is how many 57 year old men try cocaine for the first time?? When I heard that in his press conference statement, I turned the radio dial and lost all respect for him... Either he's lying through his teeth or what in the world compelled him to do something so stupid...

+1

But I like that the management gave him a second chance, and that he has passed 3X/week drug testing for about 9 months. One mistake, and he seems to have fixed it.

Nolan Ryan on the Ticket now. Trying to deflect and move on.

Said him and JD talked to him a lot about that specific issue, and MLB did as well and they came to the conclusion that it was accurate.

MLB has a confidentiality agreement and asked them not to speak of it. Thought it may come out and it eventually did.

Nothing else of real interest. Comes across at trying to answer questions on a sticky subject.

Agreed no way is his first time and he better hope it was because if he had partied with anyone else they are now going to come out of the woodwork.

From what I've heard, Washington told the MLB that he wouldn't pass it before he took it, and he inquired Ryan and Daniels about it as well.

Sounds like he came clean before he even took it.

I'm within a few years of his age and have never done cocaine... The idea that I would wake up one morning and think, "you know what, I think I'm going to try cocaine today", is just a foreign concept to me. While I have a general idea of where in Dallas to go and buy it, I would hope reality and common sense would set in before I actually made the purchase!

My gosh, I thought most people my age already had their vices identified :D

If it happened that way, I am going to guess that's not the way it happened. I would guess that he was out with some people past a good hour and may have had a bit to drink. People who are partying have been known to do some things they may not ordinarily do. So I've heard at least...

Hadn't thought of it from that angle and I bet that's exactly how it happened.. And yup, I have done a "few" things I'm not real proud of after drinking a little to much :D

I thought the whole "only tried it once" excuse was laughable. This is the guy who's responsible for all the decisions on the field for a major league team? Should have fired him on the spot.

Come to think of it, his excuse does kind of remind me of Bill Clinton's infamous line that he tried pot, but didn't inhale

I have my vices identified for quite some time I just enjoy them so much that I refuse to give them up.
