Who do you think will win out of the two teams and why?

I really don't want to think about this game for about 7 more months. Lufkin should win this game because they have a ton of talent coming back and they are playing at Abe Martin. It is never an easy game with the arch-rival Lobos, so anything could happen. Longview is doing some rebuilding after graduating some of the best talent in the schools history, but Lufkin and Longview always play their best against each other, so this will be a very competitive game for both teams, however Lufkin should win it this year.

gotta go with Lufkin in this one, but as PA2005 said we play our best against each other and this will be Lufkin's biggest test in non district. Many will underestimate the Lobos b/c we are young and inexperinced but we will be competitive.

At this time, so early in the year I have to go with Lufkin. They have so many quality players returning, where as Longview will have many untried players. However both are great programs and will be in the play-offs.

Does Lufkin have Hurricane Dez or Mini Dez for this one?

KT, Please explain your question.

It's just a play on a classic Saturday Night Live skit (Da Bears and Ditka).

well kt....ive never seen mini-dez!!!!that guy is a freak!!!!

Then my answer is Hurricane DEZ, at 6'3" 205 lbs., factor in his speed, great hands and his ability to go up and get the ball over most any DB in the state, he is going to be hard to stop. The neat thing is he is not the only talented reciever Lufkin has in their stable, so if teams want to double him, then you have three other guys, especially Ralph Thomas that will burn you.

It will be a tough match. The Lufkin / Longview games are always a fight and the scores are tight. I'll go with Lufkin since they are playing at home and have some much returning talent. LP 21 LGV 14

are you serious about this thread?? brother, you definitely have way too much time on your hands.......you would have to be a f-ing idiot to not know who is HEAVILY favored to win this game(which is non-district and really doesn't mean a damn thing anyway!)you guys have everyone returning---we lost everyone---you understand the simple mathematics to this one, right??? i admire your passion about Lufkin, but why start a thread asking about a game that is 7 months away, and a game that Lufkin SHOULD win?? any Lobo fan that says that Longview will win is just being a "homer"...i consider myself a true, loyal Lobo fan until the end, through sickness and in health, until death do us part....but, i'm a realist, as well.....we have nothing to lose in that game..we're not picked to win, and we shouldn't be...i hope we go out and give 110% to kick the crap out of yall..it is possible....the odds are against us and we know it....the odds are in your favor--the pressure is on you, not us...we're not picked to win a state title this season.....nevertheless, good luck to you guys.....sincerely, Bleedgreen

Frankly Bleed, it is really impossible to predict this game. This is such a big riivalry game, I don't see how anyone can be overconfident. In the last few years, I have never gone to a Panther-Lobo tilt feeling we had the game exactly in the bag before we played. In fact, although confident, there were a couple of times I wasn't sure we would pull out the win, especially in 2002 when we had to play you guys in the playoffs for the third time in Tyler. Also, in 2004 at SFA, a game I thought we were out played for most part, we comeback to win with an all-star performance from Jorvorskie Lane. You just never know.
This one will be no different, becaue there is so much pride and tradition on both sides. This will be a good game to get both teams ready for district play.

Easy now bleed.....:D I will have to bust out on some rap songs if this goes on much longer:eek: Did you get iced over in Longview this weekend? Heard from Marvo lately? I received a Christmas card from him. I need to write him back. Do you remember Rusty Goodman? I saw him twice over the holidays. Take it easy man.

Oh brother another T82. What a freakin 5th grade response. Grab a clue dude. You in no way are a reflection of most of the TRUE SLC fans that we Lufkin fans respect and who show our football program much respect. I am sure the TRUE Dragons will get you squared away sooner of later. How old are you anyway.........12?

I have to agree that when the Panthers and Lobos play, it is a great game... I remember back in the late 70's the games were unbelieveable. Listening to them on the radio in the early 70's and then listening to the coin toss to see who would represent the distict in the playoffs. Thank goodness those days are over...
I agree with PackAttack on the last few years... especially the one at SFA when I was unsure we could be them three times in a row... But 2006, its Lufkin....

Is Dez 6'3"? I thought he looked that tall, but every recruiting pub & article I've seen has him at 6'1".....

Bleed, How could you guys be that bad? I don't think the games between these two great power teams will ever be a giveme. Ya know last year as we
went through the season the only 2 games I was dreading were the Longview game and SLC game. When you guys dropped it I was stunned. I couldn't believe it. I just thought you were going all the way. Good Luck to the Lobos

Thanks drgnbkr. I figured one of you good guys would get the newbie squared away sooner or later. Obviously we have a lot of respect for the Dragons and it is nice to know that there are a number of Dragons in here that have the same kind of respect for the Panthers. By the way, any word if any of your games will be televised this coming season? It may be too early to know but I figured I would ask anyway.

welcome to the board brother......i'm not saying that we are going to be "bad", just not as strong as seasons past...we lost alot of "horses" and have alot of young people trying to fill those positions---it will definitely be interesting to see. we do have great athletes that can play, but the lack of varsity snaps will be a big factor early on....i still believe that we will win district again--i don't see Lee beating us.....or JT......playoffs, we will give it hell...don't think that we will last too long, but stranger things have happened....being the underdogs in the "big" games will be fun to watch....i would like to play the "darkhorse spoiler" of the year, if possible....as for Longview/Lufkin, you're right---those games are so intense and always a pretty hard battle...but, i'm just being a realist when i'm talking about the odds of us actually pulling off the upset...yes, it is possible, and i hope it does happen....i guess we will just wait and see....this will be beat to death a million times over the next few months....usually a few loud-mouthed Lufkin fans that start the sh$t talking every time---LOL....................................

I don't think it will be as bad as it was before this past season started. Remember everyone was saying Lufkin would not be good because we didn't have Lane. We were going to be "average at best." It got crazy last year but I just don't think it will be as intense this coming season. I just want to see a good game. Are you going to bring the infamous myround0 with you to the game? I might have to bust out with some new rhymes if it gets too crazy in here.

That was the illiterate football fans that do not realize what a great football PROGRAM is. They said the same thing after the 2001 season when Lufkin won the championship and lost 95 percent of their starters including Reggie. The 2002 team was one play away from winning another title. Great programs reload.

At Abe Martin in Lufkin. It has been almost 4 years since Lufkin has lost there and that was against #7 Tyler Lee and Lufkin lost in ot by 1 point. Lufkin has beat them there 2 times in a row at Abe since including their div1 state championship year in 2004.

Sorry Longview fans but I gotta go with the home team especially since they are returning so many players on both sides of the ball. Plus, Lufkin is just tough to beat, period, at Ol Abe.
But....line 'em up and button your chin straps! Ya never know until kickoff.
