I can see it now. Sub-500 teams making it to the playoffs somewhere. And, then whacking a top ranked team. Expanding each district to 4 teams out to be rather interesting. :D

It would be a helping hand to a young team that developed late, and came on at the end of the season. In the 90s when they added the 3rd team, Wichita Falls Rider made it to quarterfinals in 4A after finishing 2-8 reg season. They got a chance and ran with it.
I don't see that 4th team doing much unless they were beset with injuries early or were just very young starting out. It does give the playoffs that March Madness feel when a losing record team tries to upset a big dog.

I'm sure some of these 4th teams will surprise a few favorites. It will make an interesting playoff season.

26-5A can usually go 4 deep with quality teams that will compete.

17-5A should produce 4 quality playoff teams. Heck, this past season, 3 teams were still vying for the 3rd spot on the very last day of the regular season. Falls got the nod due to point differential and they did ok with it.

I agree, but there are some districts that go pretty deep. It is is possible that you could see both regional championship games being played between two teams from 26-5A. Not probable, but highly possible. You can say it is the weak region or you can say it is because of the football played in this district.

If that were to happen, I'd call it a remarkable occurance in which all the planets had just aligned with my large left toe. :D

I remember that. Didn't they upset Old high to even make the playoffs??

The reason I don't like this is because some 2-8 team can get in while a strong 7-3 team from a district like ours(7-5A) can miss out because of how good the district is. Last year we finished 6th in our district but were better than several of the playoff teams from other districts because those districts were so weak.

Let's go back to one dist.--one playoff team.

i personally think 2 from each district with only 1 eventual champion is perfect.

That wouldn't be a complete shock and I'd love for it to happen. That scenario would set up a dilemma for me in the semis.
Katy, Elsik, Hastings....Alief Taylor or Cinco ranch could make a run in that district.
