Midway through second qtr.

Lufkin - 25
Tomball - 8

CP plays Westfield tomorrow night at Atascosita. If both LP and CP win their 1st 2 playoff games, they'll meet in the 3rd round. LP will want to exact some revenge after that controversial district decider.

No final score, but Lufkin wins by about 23 over Tomball. Will face the winner of Cy Woods and Georgetown I believe, and they play tomorrow night.

Lewisville girls won over Keller Central as well. Flower Mound girls lost to Trinity.

Congrats to the Girls from 6-5A Lewisville, Marcus, and Carroll. :notworthy

I would also like to say congrats to Flower Mound basketball players Mallory Singleton who has signed to play basketball for SMU and to Melody Criswell who signed to run track for Texas A & M. Well done ladies.

14-5a went 2-2 in the 1st round

LP and CP through. beat Tomball and Westfied

Woodz and New Caney lost to Dekaney and Klein Collins respectively

Cavs without their best player, struggled against 4th placed Westfield. The playoff first timers were nervous but settled down in time to pull out a gutsy win. This was a good hard fought win and should help them down the road. No matter who you are cheering for it's always tough to watch the losing team finish their season. The Westfield team played their hearts out.

They went 1-1 earlier this year. CP has some health issues. Not sure what the status is for Friday. CP graduated a bunch of kids so don't expect last year's one sided result. It's going to be a tough game for the Lady Cavs. Winner plays the winner of Lufkin v Georgetown. Tough bracket.

It's probably going to be fun but realistically, I don't see anybody in the state beating Cy Fair

I would tend to agree with you on that. 27-1, 13-0 on the season. They dropped one to Mansfield Summit in an early tourney. Their 6' 3" Center is a force.

Quite possible that Chiney was still playing volleyball if it was one of the early tournaments. The national press is already declaring her 'better than her sister' in anticipation of both girls being at Stanford next year. That's quite a statement.

However, I see where Dallas Skyline defeated Garland Lakeview Continental 81-30 in the first round. Could give Fair a game in the R2 semi.

Nope....she played in the Summit loss and scored 13 points. They keyed on her and made them try to beat them with Peoples, she had 24.
Got to remember.....Summit is the incumbent 5A champs that beat H. Nimitz last year.
This year has a lot of good teams with Cy Fair, Duncanville, Cedar Hill, Irving MacArthur (the favorite), Skyline, Arlington Bowie and a few others.

Man, I was at that game at Baylor. Skyline had it and blew it in the last few seconds. We were hoping to match up with Skyline because I knew we had nobody to match up with Chiney. I was right. Skyline was very similar to Naaman and we would have had a better chance against them.

Wait until you guys see Odyssey Sims of IMAC this year...........
she just bust 40 on Duncanville while her SO sidekick Alexis Jones scored 26. They play Summit. Summit took some losses this year but are already showing to be a very tough playoff out. Their coach is a defensive genius.
Expect her to leave for a plush college job very soon.
I'm already predicting Sims being part of the first women's alley-oop with Griner being the finisher at Baylor next year.

They rolled Hightower 65-41. By far the best team in the state. Chiney (Stanford bound) the best player. Last year we killed CyFair in the regular season but were no match in the R2 finals when it mattered. Ann Robique just knows how to win big games.

As for UConn, how many do they return next year? My buddies make fun of me whenever we start talking sports because I will bring up this UConn team and make the comment that if they win it all they just mmight be the greatest college team of all time. Regardless of sport. I do not care if they are women or not, I have never in my life seen a team dominate like they have. It's scary

UNC womens soccer up there, no doubt. Might even be more dominant than UConns women currently are now. I just know that the UCONN women have played something like 21 ranked opponents this year alone and have beat every single one of them by double figures. I believe they won all 39 games last year by double figures. Two years ago they were like 37-2 so over the last 3 years they have gone something like 107-2. Since 1986 Geno and his program have won over 600 games which is freaking awesome. But you don't need me to tell or point that out to you.

Good point with the PSU volleyball team. They are up there too. They were taken to the brink a few times though, if UConn continues the pace they are at right now and keeps dominating the way they have then I believe they will surpass the PSU VBall team and Carolina soccer team. Remember nobody has even come close to beating them in their last 70. PSU was taken to 5 by Texas in the NC game.

But DLS never played in Texas os that streak is irrelevant. No way would DLS ever had come close to winning 151 straight in Texas. Heck they probably never owuld have won 10 in a row in Texas.

I agree with the 151. I don't think they win 151 in CA with real playoff format. Still think they win a ton of games here though, and in the end the streak is the streak. They didn't duck anyone and stayed true to their mission. If you were a senior the last year, they didn't lose a game since before you started kindergarten. That's pretty good.

The attendance numbers at the final four for the women have been pretty impressive too. They don't pack em in like the guys do but they typically sell out 20,000 seat arenas for the final four. This year it is in San Antonio and if UConn and Tennessee meet in the finals I bet they will have close to 30K in attendance. Same if it is UConn and Stanford or maybe even UConn-Nebraska.
