We play these guys this year

I hear they got a new coach in 2005 season to try and dig theirselves out of the 0-10 2004 campaign

I remember watching game film on them as we were preparing for North Mesquite or Bowie, can't remember which one, and they were pretty bad. One of our coaches kept making comments about how bad Newman Smith was. But it looks like things will improve for us.

Blueraider, I hope you guys have a good year next year, but the guys over at Newman Smith are working and they should have a great year in 2006. If you want your highlight on the site, email me and I will tell you where to send you tape. My email is brad@sunshinepreps.net

Newman Smith's coach (Marc Copeland) was a State championship coach at 3A Gainesville who took the opportunity to move up to 5A at Newman Smith. He went through two seasons and quit in the summer of 2005.

He quit football and started selling insurance.

Some schools are challenging enough to make coaches rethink their professions.

Bobby Bounds, the current coach was the running backs coach who was elevated to Head Coach last season. Good luck, Bobby.

Smith's athletic quality has deteriorated quite a bit since Creekview opened (the Hebron area of LISD also attracts many families)...but Smith's athletic quality was never great anyway.

CFBISD has never really been good at sports.

Smith got put in a tough district this year...they can probably get by Turner, but will probably have trouble winning more than that.

There's a rumor going around that Nic Pozderac may be looking to transfer to another school for his senior year. Possibly a small private school in the Dallas area.
