View Full Version : Who has the most ridiculous nondistrict schedule?

AHSeagles

Realignment has come and gone and teams have their schedules set (for the most part). So who's schedule is the most ridiculous?

Abilene-
Belton
Longview
Miramar, Fl
Plant, FL
Monterrey Tech, Mexico

Depending on how much stock you put into the teams from Florida and Mexico, Abilene's schedule could be toughest. definitely the most exotic.

Longview-
Marshall
John Tyler
Allen
Lufkin
Abilene

Tyler Lee-
Trinity
Lufkin
John Tyler
The Woodlands
Beaumont Westbrook

Longview and Lee have the most proven, toughest schedules. Whichever one you deem tougher is personal opinion really. Both teams play defending state champs, Lufkin, and John Tyler. It most depends on if Allen or The Woodlands is better than one another, and if Marshall or Westbrook is better.

I went with the homer vote. It's completely ridiculous that we're playing 3 out of state teams!:D

All three of them have great schedules. It just goes to show neither one of these teams are scared to play anyone.

Could be, or could end up being tougher than the others. If teams here in Texas would have scheduled us, then we wouldn't have had to schedule these out of state teams.

the post was not meant to degrade abilene.
i just think longview and tyler lee have a tougher schedule.
i also think abilene is the better team in the poll.
the fla. teams are not that good. abilene will
roll them and i think they will handle the, (COUGH, CHOKE), THE TEAM,
perhaps the best team in all of mexico, by a large margin.

I agree that Longview and Tyler Lee have tougher schedules. However, the Florida schools could be the most athletic teams we'll face, but not necessarily the best teams. Monterrey Tech is a joke, even if they're the best in Old and New Mexico.

Really? Defending state champs in their respective classes?

What happened the last time a Texas team played a defending state champ from FL?

AbEagleFan
02-08-2010, 06:53 PM
Abilene is playing not one, but two defending state champs. Some dude on here stated the teams from FL were not that good. Well they were good enough to win state titles in their respective classes. The defending state champ from FL who traveled to Texas in 07 was good enough to knock ours off.

As for the team from Mexico, I have no idea as to how they will be. I do hope however we come out of this non-district schedule healthy.

miramar, fla won the state championship.
the reason, (for the most part), was 6'-5" qb ryan williams...
he graduated...
his favorite target was ivan mccarthney, cousin of bengals wr chad ochocinco,

abilene rolls....sims cousins rest the 4th qtr...

Southlake did not have a down year the year they lost to Miami Northwest. They had one of the if not best backfield in the state with Newton and Dodge.

A tough one for sure. I know there were talks about playing Odessa High in week 5, but they fell through. I hope the Glades Central game doesn't fall through for y'all. They were supposed to come to Abilene a couple years ago to play us and ended up not being able to get the funding to make the trip.

compared to other years:
2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006...

2007 was a down year for slc...
that doesn't say they were a weak team.
but..they were weaker than previous years.
miami northwest was an exceptional fla team
not the norm.

abilene will roll the 2 fla teams.

Won't happen, and I'm curious to know what Abilene returns on the o-line and defense that was so crucial and underrated nationally last year. Particularly against Tampa Plant who is the team widely believed to be the best in Florida going in to next year.

I'm not sure anyone knows for certain about the OL and DL. However, the guys I have talked with that have some knowledged seems to think the Eagles will be bigger in the lines and that the secondary will have to step up.
The JV's werevery good. All in all the 09 team played so well together. Very special group IMO.

the oline depth could be a problem. but personally, i don't think the secondary will be weak. jake brooks and gibson acguirre at the safeties, xavier scarlett (who's faster than the 2 corners we had this year) and the other corner spot could go to a couple people but it will probably go to vincent migliore. IMO the Defense will be very good next year (especially the linebackers)

I think you are sorely, sorely mistaken and jaded from Katy's Bellevue and Cy Bay games. Plant and Miramar are not 2007 MNW, but they sure as heck aren't Cy Bay. They will give Abilene everything they want, bank on it - especially Plant.

You people know the answer to this question..i know you do:D

Longview's

@Marshall-States best rivalry. Some mags even has it as the nations best rivalry.

John Tyler-Lost 2 games before state, before losing to an very good klein team. Been rivals with longview every since existence.

@Allen-Don't really have to explain myself here

@Lufkin-If your team has not ever played at abe...you could just only imagine how tough it is to get outta there with an W. This is also one of the best rivalry's in the state..only an 2 game diffrence in lufkin's favor. I personally believe our rivalry with lufkin is much bigger than our rivalry with marshall.

Abilene-hmm. Div 2 5A state champs. Those sims boys give me nightmares, but i would like them to welcome to an place we're the lobos have not lost a game in a mere 7 years:D.

The games against the Florida teams will be funand get some national exposure, but going to Longview is the game I look forward to the most. Plant might be the most athletic team we'll play, buy Longview always has great athletes and of course they're very well coached. This will be a great meter for both teams. And of course, I hope we can give y'all your first loss at home in 7 years. :D
