Does anyone have access to the school enrollment numbers submitted on October 15th? It would be interesting to know actual school enrollment #'s to try and determine whether a school may go D1 or D2.

Let me know.

You want a specific district, or every single team in 4A?

Give them up man! If the Cedar Park schools did not get significantly smaller, then LT ( enrollment of about 1,916 I think ) may go D2.

Vista Ridge was 2182 two years ago. Cedar Park was 2323 two years ago.

If Vista Ridge is above LT, then there is a very good chance that LT will go D2. I would prefer that they go D1, but I think Vista Ridge finishes in the top 4 of the district in spite of what they did last year.

Vandegrift and Rouse look to have tough years ahead. Dripping Springs was WAY down last year. Marble Falls should be pretty competitive for the 3-4 spot.

Consider also that Vista Ridge has never made the playoffs. Their best season was 3-7 in '07. It's a possiblity that Lake Travis could go D2, but without knowing Vista Ridges number and the unlikeliness that they may the playoffs anyway, I'd think LT is a safe D1 team.

You are probably right although Vandegrift and Rouse will not be competitive at all. And I was shocked at how far Dripping Springs had fallen. It will be:
1. LT
2. Cedar Park
3. Marble Falls
4. Vista Ridge/Dripping Springs
6. Rouse
7. Vandegrift - no seniors in the class yet

That looks about right. I'm guessing...Like I say just guessing that Vista Ridge lost about the same amount of kids as Cedar Park did, then they would have around 1890 right now. They may infact have more than that, but it might be a safe guess, in which case LT is a solid D1 team.

As of yesterday, the UIL had not posted the numbers it used for realignment this time around. I haven't checked today.

I hope LT goes Division 2 just in case my 2 new teams make the playoffs. :D

Vista Ridge lost kids to Vandergrift and Rouse so they're probably under LT enrollment-wise. I still hate the fact that they have two divisions and that 4 teams make the playoffs though

If VR can go D1, that makes 4A Div II really tough. Lake Travis, Alamo Heights and Highland Park would all be DII.

I am going to go with

1) Lake Travis
2) Cedar Park
3) Vista Ridge
4) a battle between Rouse and Vandergrift, I think these teams will be the
4th condender for the playoff spot

I think Vista has the speed, so they might beat Rouse and Vandergrift, but really I think it could go either way.

Rouse and Vandergrift both have good teams and I think they will both be hungry to make it into the playoffs year 1 of Varsity. Not that Marble Falls, and Dripping won't, but I just think these two teams are going to be overlooked and neither of them should be.

Over time, this is going to be a great district to compete in and I am ready to see how it play out.

You may very well be right, but it is VERY tough in your first year of varsity competition. I have no doubt that these schools will be good in time, but this year might be a long year for both of them.

That's true and I certainly can't say that they are better than Dripping Springs or Marble Falls, but just judging from Marble Falls and Dripp's record from last season, it looks like the 4 of us might be about even and seeing that I am an LISD fan- I would definitely be betting on Vandergrift or Rouse.

Rouse played some tough teams over the last 2 years- you certainly can't put them in any catagories with Varsity teams- but they did play a few of them and were in every game but 1 of them. Rockdale was state ranked when they played them and considering Rouse has Sophomores and Freshman playing against Juniors and Seniors with Varsity experience- then the score wasn't as bad as it looked- or could have been:)

Vandergrift played some great games too, giving them some good experience as well and they were in all of their games except for 1, I believe.

I guess no one can predict the upcoming season (except for maybe LT and CP) but I wouldn't just count out the 2 new ones just because they are new because from what I have seen and heard- they both should compete pretty well.

Not sure about Vandegrift, but Rouse's Basketball team is 1 game away from making the playoffs this year and I believe the girls soccer team is tied for 2nd. I know that there is a HUGE difference between Basketball, soccer and football, but they are still Freshman and Sophomores playing against Juniors and Seniors, so I think it can be done.

Either way- there is going to be some exciting game in 25-4A next year!!

That is good stuff. I'm sure that it is exciting for those schools, the kids, the parents and the fans. Everything is new and there are so many "first times". I am certainly not counting them out and I know that they will work really hard to get ready for the 1st year of varsity ball.

I am sure that the players are very excited about the chance to measure themselves against a team like LT. By the way, LT played a team in their second year of existence this year................It was Pearland Dawson in the semifinals. Best of luck to both teams.

2nd year, New school? In the 4th round of the playoffs? Hell, maybe we do have a chance:) ha

I know that both schools are pretty excited, and its going to be good to be in the same district as Lake Travis and Cedar Park- both of them are well established and have names for themselves, so it will be nice to be in the same district.

Lake Travis is a GREAT team as well as Cedar Park. Very excited about this year!
