Don't know if he is any good but he transfered in from Cedar Hill. Will be playing QB from what I hear. I was told this back in December from some Marcus parents but was sworn to keep it quiet until the new semester started and it became official.

Erwins son will be a freshman next year so I do not see him playing varsity. He was the QB for the Briar Hill 8th grade team that won the LISD championshp. From everything I have been told(from parents) there will not be a strong QB battle. Marcus was not strong in that department with the departure of Boyd

Deion lives in Prosper, but he and the mom are divorced. I know his daughter went to an LISD middle school back about 2001-2 because she played basketball. Right now I can't remember which school but it was one in Flower Mound.

Before Deion Jr. went to Cedar Hill High, he went to Cedar Hill Trinity Christian School, where he did in fact play QB. Deion Sr. and Deion Jr.'s mother has been divorced for quite a few years now but, Jr.'s mother has supposedly moved "back" to the Flower Mound area now.

Oh, okay! LOL! I haven't been down Morris Drive in awhile and, I forgot the full name was Edward S. Marcus.
On a football related note, I could see Jr. as a good fit in Erwin's offense. When Erwin coached in La Marque, he ran the spread option with QBs who could run just as well as throwing it. It gave his offense another demension and, made them even more dangerous.
I believe that Jr. will be in the 11th grade when the 2010 season starts so, he'll have a couple of more years.

He was one of my recruits...I took him into Coach Joseph's office and Coach j was sitting with his back to us looking out the window at Sam Holl doing wind sprints....even though Sam was a Sr....and the season was over.....he was doing wind sprints as a punishment for some strange reason. He never turned around and looked at us. We walked in and he held his hand up and said "Stop"...I stopped and he said "dada, whatcha got?" I said "Sir....I have Deion Sanders Jr...he coming from....." Before I could finish, Coach J said "Cornerback.....he can rotate with Colt....now excuse yourselfs".....and tried to defend him, but at that moment KT2000 showed up in a suit with a bluetooth in his ear and said "I need for you to leave" I was like "Jeremy...we're boys, you're gonna do me like that???" He replied "Sir...I need you to leave" So as we walked out...I told Deion that he would have to play corner and work for a starting spot...he said he would think about it....got in his Escalade and left.......now I'm hearing he's at FM Marcus....something tells me Farmer had something to do with it.
I have a flight to American Samoa this weekend trying to address the Katy OLine issue.
A couple of thoughts.....
A kid with a big name Dad is a good thing for District 6-5A. That means our schools and our league are pretty darn good.
Also, big names like Deion, Renfro, Newton, attract ongoing attention & that gives all the kids on the field more exposure.
Besides, these kids are competitors and nothing motivates them more than an opportunity to man-up and compete against all-pro's boy.

I do not think that we are going to be in the same district. Rumor has it that Guyer is going to be in our district with the Kellers and Coppell. Makes perfect sense for us to drive through the Mound to play a district opponent and of course the stadium that Grapevine and Colleyville plays in, is literally across the street but would not want us to play against each other, maybe in non district, instead of the battle for the axe we could play Colleyville in the battle of the cheese or the cheese bowl.
I know Panterfan I need to let it go but it still one of the funniest things I have ever encountered in my life.

you are correct, I forgot about Northwest. I think it is good every couple years to move around a bit, do not have a problem with it but it just makes so much sense to always have us with Grapevine and Colleyville because of the proximity and the fact that being a one school district we do not have a "built in" rivalry. Good district for us though for next season since we are graduating so many. I would like to see us schedule a tough non district schedule as if the rumors are correct it will not be a difficult district other than Coppell who at this point should be the favorite to win that district. They bring back a lot of kids and have a great coach. We lose a ton and well our coach........well we have a coach. Had to edit. Early season prediction would have Carroll in 3rd place in this district with Coppell and Guyer battling for first then us and then flip a coin.

I am hearing that as well. There was another projection that put LISD with Guyer, Justin and Coppell. But as Coach Vanderford put it we have been with Coppell now for 4 years, he doesn't think they will do it again. And Carroll with Heritage, Grapevine and HEB. That would make sense travel wise for the different schools. But when is the UIL into making sense?
It will be an interesting day on Feb. 2.

You guys should always be in with the Grapevine schools just like anytime a Denton school is 5A they should be in with the Lewisville schools. Think abou t this, Guyer will be traveling through this district to get to games in Southlake and Keller.
Losing Carroll and Coppell will hurt the Lewisville schools in the sprots outside of football too. The HEB and Grapevine-Colleyville schools are not that strong in baseball, softball, volleyball and basketball, Colleyville usually has good soccer but thats about it

Colleyville is ok in baseball but compared to Coppell and Carroll they would definitely be a drop in competition. Grapevine upset a great Coppell team last year in a one game playoff but I think Grapevine was ousted the next round by Allen?

You are right. I am behind an alias, and I have had nothing bad to say about anyone. Big difference.
I'm close to the coaching staff, because I respect what they have done the past 10 years.
Maybe what SWM said was joking, but sarcasm does not read well, and it sounded malicious. You/she or whoever also has the right to support any other team that you want. You are not required to follow, or support, The Hebron Hawks or the defensive coordinator.
What ya'll fail to realize is: this is these men's livelihood. This is how they feed their families, and talk like this is damaging to a coach's reputation. There are also plenty of students that use this website, and talk like that plants seeds of doubt.

This is a discussion board and the sacred cows are our children.
If a coach leaves much to be desired, it's obvious to the enlightened.
I discourage kids from participating in these boards.....but it's inevitable they pop up.
I respect the job our coaches do at Bowie and I respected the coaches that were there during our losing years........but those prior coaches could not execute their game or make Bowie a winning program. Very likeable guys........but they didn't work.
It's tough being a coach, but even tougher if you can't produce.
Sorry....we don't kiss butt or coddle coaches here...........but we're light on the kids as it should be.
Sure the coach is making a living, but it won't be for long if he doesn't get results. No two ways to deny that. Don't blame the kids........the coaches better teach them or learn something that works.
I mean this in the nicest way.
Just support your team.

you put way too much stock in what is posted on this board, IMO. Coaches are used to the spotlight, positive and negative. If what is posted on this message board has that much impact, then I would suggest a supplement to promote another layer of skin growth. You are not the only one with "close" coaching connections ;)

Have no doubt that SWM loves and supports the Hebron Hawks. She and I have become friends here and I took what she said as half joke, half frustration in what she felt Hebron needed to work on. She is not bashing any coach or especially not any kid. She has a right to her opinion and in that she feels the defense needed work last year. Don't read anything more into than that.

That's the way I and most of the rest of the board took it too I believe. I even bet if you ask a DC from Hebron or FM if they could have done better last year they would say they could have. I bet just about any coach would say they could have and that is not just limited to Hebron. Like with any other job coaches security is based on results and the results that give them the security is producing. Whether we like it or not that is what this game has evolved into. I bet the Hebron defensive staff and players will come out with a chip on their shoulder next year knowing that they could have done better this past year.
SWM has always been a great supporter of the Hawks and their coaching staff.

Thanks for the support guys. I certainly didn't intend to ignite a firestorm. Defense was certainly not the strong suit for the team this year, but the offense had their struggles, too, which didn't help the defense any.
One shortcoming with HS ball is that you have to play who you have, not withstanding the occasional recruiting discussions we have on here. If you don't have the players there isn't much you can do about it.
I have every hope and expectation that next year will be more successful for the Hawks.
And if anyone wishes more in-depth discussion of drill team I will be happy to continue that in The Yard, but not on the Main Board.

I took it tongue in cheek as well. Brazil has done a great job and because of that is mentoring he is going to have coaches leave to take HC jobs. Same thing happened here. Lineweaver, George etc. You guys have lost the Dane and McBride. You graduated a lot of great players and a new DC. He will be better next year and Brazil knows a little about defense ;). As long as you have coach Brazil you guys will be a consistently good team.

It is also what they have chosen to do, and they were aware of it before they signed the contracts. "Produce,,,or...." Coaches have it tough. They and their families feel and hear all the grief from parents, students, players, schoolboard members, everybody. I wouldn't want what they have to go through. The sarcasm and bantering on this board is just an outlet, not anything we should take seriously. Farmerfan and I had it out the other day. Can't put all off it in here..........
Well outta south alabama came a country boy
He say i'm lookin' for a man named jim
I am a pool-shootin' boy
My name willie mccoy
But down home they call me slim
Yeah i'm lookin' for the king of 42nd street
He drivin' a drop top cadillac
Last week he took all my money
And it may sound funny
But i come to get my money back
And everybody say jack don't you know
And you don't tug on superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off that old lone ranger
And you don't mess around with jim
Well a hush fell over the pool room
Jimmy come boppin' in off the street
And when the cuttin' were done
The only part that wasn't bloody
Was the soles of the big man's feet
Yeah he were cut in in bout a hundred places
And he were shot in a couple more
And you better believe
They sung a different kind of story
When big jim hit the floor now they say
You don't tug on superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off that old lone ranger
And you don't mess around with slim
just don't hurt Slim's feelings :p

Pot meet Kettle. You seem to be the only one taking this too seriously. If coaches cannot handle the scrutiny then pick another career. If I am not producing at work I will hear about and if were to continue not to produce they would fire me. I understand this is high school but this is a full time well paid gig for these guys(at least the HC). If your sole job is to be a football coach is it not expected that you are to win football games? In other states most coaches are full time teacher that get an extra stipend to coach but here in Texas it is a full time job that more than often pays more than twice what a teacher gets paid. There should be expectations that you win.
Yes this is all out in public. If ya'll want to come and watch me work have at it, you can start message board and tear me to shreds.

I disagree. Yes, these men have chosen to coach, teach, and change the lives of our children for the better, but they did not choose to bad-mouthed on the internet by fans that don't know what they are talking about. If the dc at Hebron is so bad, why not go talk to him, and give some advice on how to make things better.
I am not married to, or related to, anyone at Hebron. I just don't think it's fair the way this guy is talked about on here.

She said a joke and gave her opinion that she felt Hebron needed some work on the defense. She did not say anything personal about the guy or say he never should be coaching in the first place. She did not say he should be tarred and feathered and paraded around to be laughed at. She did none of those things. She joked he could go to FM. Not a bad job either. Pants said we could have their DC as well. To be honest I would be happy to have either.
You are new here and maybe do not know of the bantering that has gone on in the two years we have all been district friends. Trust me there was no mean spiritedness behind her post or Pants. Just a little joke and letting off a little frustration. Nothing more.

Look at my closing statement...consider not taking it so seriously. How about some info on the states that the coaches are only that. More than twice what a teacher gets paid? A very young team. They start 3 sophomores and my have the best pure shooter in the area in Phil Forte. A throwback to the Eric Montross/Chris Mullin whith his haircut lol. Marcus Smart is a pure driver, he creates by driving to the hole and he is dang good at that. Simean(sp) is another weapon for Marcus. They play a half court style game and are very good. They play very good defense and their shot selection is incredible. They mainly played man when I saw them against Lewisviille but it was an in your face type of man that forced Lewisville into some costly turnovers and bad shot choices. Forte can hit from anywhere on the court and I mean anywhere. IMO he is their best offensive weapon and then Marcus Smart. Look for the Maruaders to be a serious state title contender the next two years

Not your fault. I did not make it clear which post I was responding to. I have normally agreed with you in the past. Being a school administrator would not be my core competency. definetly Anamia's and get some armstrong dip with your rita!
I will be at the game tomorrow should be a good game. Marcus has a lot of youth on the team for sure. As Farmer stated Forte has a great shot and is a returning starter. Jason Seimen also a returning start is quite the player. Along with the other 2 sophmores looks like we have a couple of good years ahead (hopefully):)

I can now say after having to ask multiple times what something is or means that this message board is an educational experience. ;)

Yoou should go. I might even make an apperance. I assume the game is at Flower Mound and tip is at 7:30? Which means if there is a girls game before hand it will more likely be 8 when they tip.
I would like to see Marcus play again simply to get a better read on them, I do not think seeing them only 1 time can do justice.

That is what I have learned from this board. I am very sheltered and naive. Farmer and RedRage always have to explain things to me. I go to Red Rage when it is about anything the younger kids are talking about especially in the Yard and to Farmer when it is football related, high school and college. They both are very nice and just explain it. Red makes a little bit of fun but not in a mean way.
I still don't know what Pants avatar is. I think it might be picture of Hal Wasson their HC, but I am not sure.
Pants, please tell us about your avatar picture. :)

He didn't have a QB when he got there and he did have Hopkins. IMO he did an admirable job of adjusting his offense to fit his kids. Lots of coaches would have tried to force their system and been an failure.

This is very true! And he is currently helping at the middle schools to improve the passing game moving forward. Both of Erwin's sons are strong QB's. But we still have some strong running guys to carry us for a couple of years. Mason can be every bit of the back as Hopkins, Newsome returns for his Sr year and Giddens will be strong next year. If we can get someone that can throw the ball a few times we might do ok.
And if we can just get our secondary problems fixed this off season next fall could be another strong season for Marcus.

went to the marcus/flower mound game tuesday night and was just amazed at how they just hold the ball. i mean i think flower mound scored 6 pts the entire second half and marcus scored 13:eek:. i was like this is boring. the best thing about the game was the player introductions.
bball wise chill will give them some serious and i mean serious match-up problems. i felt verygood after i went to this game about our chances if we were to play marcus, but you never know. i said the same thing about abilene:Censor:
Thank ya'll for the beverage info and good luck the rest of the way in bball and inb the fall with football. I really do not see jr being ya'lls qb either; but i do see him on the field some where.

Well, if Jr. is as athletic as I hear, then he "might" fit. When Erwin was at La Marque, he ran the spread with the option mixed in. Depending on whatelse he has in the skill positions, it might work.

And your right the game was so slow moving. Not much effort in the second or 3rd qtr. Then a wake up call got Marcus moving again in time for the win. We will have to play a lot faster game if we want to go deep in the playoffs this year.

I personally think our current Freshman class is more talented than our 06 or 07 teams. They are great group of boys that work hard. I am excited to see what they do next year on JV and the ones that will move up to varsity. Our Freshman next year is good as well, we will have to wait and see how they gell with the other two feeder schools coming in.
I have no doubt that Marcus has some up and coming as well. Next years Freshman class will be stout if what I saw during the 8th grade games is any indication.

True- I am basing my opinion on the 8th grade games last fall. He and I must give credit to his teammates dominated everyone they played.
Even if he does not grow enough to play QB he is a gifted athlete and will contribute somewhere on the field.
