Haha, as a fan of option football, excuse my tone regarding the spread. They are by most accounts a formidable team, the school where Gus Malzahn got his start in coaching, and also listed as one of ESPN RISE top teams for 2010.

They are not from Texas so the only way they are good is because they recruit. They have an unlimited budget over there and not a single kid transfers in for the Christian enironment or education. Kids only transfer to Trinity for education

Shiloh will have a hard time pulling off a win! ET will be loaded, next season. Shiloh has some quality players (QB, WR, etc.) but it will be REAL TOUGH to beat the Trojans. DF-dub!

Please, feel free to come back to this post after the game.

John Curtis, La will be playing Servite High School from California here in New Orleans..

Servite was the #1 team in California last year...Should be interesting...Servite finished #6 in the nation in the Rivals poll..

6 Servite Anaheim CA 15-1 13
California CIF Division II Champions. The Friars avenged their only loss to Edison to win the Pac-5. They then beat Rockline in the CIF Bowl. The season also saw wins over Long Beach Poly, Crespi, Mater Dei, and Mission Viejo - one of the best resumes nationally.

Servite 2010 Football Schedule

0 @Oceanside
1 @John Curtis (LA)
2 La Habra
3 Edison
4 Chaparral
5 Bye
6 @JSerra
7 St. John Bosco
8 Mater Dei
9 @Santa Margarita
10 @Orange Lutheran

California Top 10 at the conclusion of the year..
1 Servite (Anaheim, CA) CA 14-1
2 Edison (Huntington Beach, CA) CA 13-1
3 Mission Viejo (CA) CA 12-1
4 Westlake (Westlake Village, CA) CA 14-0
5 De La Salle (Concord, CA) CA 13-2
6 Chaparral (Temecula, CA) CA 11-3
7 Oceanside (CA) CA 14-0
8 Moorpark (CA) CA 12-2

FYI Shiloh Christian is one of ESPN's national teams to watch for 2010 http://sports.espn.go.com/highschool/rise/football/news/story?id=4794849
and a program I've heard since 2006 has been getting the elite talents that used to go to former Arkansas big dog Springdale HS(former school of Gus Malzaln, Mitch Mustain, Damian Williams, etc.),

The thing to watch for is Kiehl Frasier for Shiloh Christian
http://rivals.yahoo.com/westernmichigan/football/recruiting/player-Kiehl-Frazier-79416 the type of dual threat at qb that has proven to level the playing field against Trinity to say the least. In fact it has outright proven to be kryptonite and a clear trend in Trinity's blemishes each year. 05 SGP, 06 SLC, 07 Permian, 08 Allen, 09 Cedar Hill, 09 Allen or Trinitys best years.

Unfamiliarity and unpredictably are what define oos contests, so Trinity will take the approach that has worked for them in their previous 2 oos games, maximum respect before, during, and after the game.

Trinity should only be favored due to being the home team, but whatever people think Trinity will be, they're never that in the beginning of the season as they struggle more than most powerhouses in the beginning of the season annually and truthly not as dominating(more close calls) as a favorite. Trinity fans based on own experience will always have respect for team that can beat a state champion from Louisiana as Shiloh Christian's mostly returning team did. I believe people have learned enough not to repeat the bet the house against the non-Texas team type talk and predictions of the past.

I lived right beside Shiloh for about 6 years... they are very well coached and execute well. They pull a lot of the better athletes from the Springdale area, but depth will be a problem for them in this game (think Evangel/SLC in 2007, or Katy/Bellevue 2009). They will manage to put a few points up as they do have a well-crafted offense with capable athletes, but Trinity should be able to run the ball for 5+ a pop almost every down. Frazier is a player and they have a couple linemen who are very good. Samuel Harvill, in particular, is one of the strongest players in the nation and has broken bench press records at almost every combine he's been to dating back to the 8th grade. He's a load and I believe he goes both ways. They are extremely similar to Shreveport Evangel as far as talent, execution, and depth go. I think Trinity would be well served to focus on grinding TOP in this one, as they will almost certainly be able to, and there's not much Shiloh will be able to do about it. Trinity's secondary and defensive coordinator better be prepared, they will be tested, but The Good Guys in Black should not lose this game. I hesitate to speculate that it will be a blowout because they have the type of offense that can give the secondary some trouble and Trinity is a noted slow starter, but across the board Trinity is clearly the more talented and deeper team.

If you watched the video on Shiloh's site, then you saw that the quarterback has a serious arm; big kid too. And, that #9 that was on the receiving end of many of those passes ain't bad either, although I think he is a senior. Should be a fun match-up.

Frazier is legit, and offensively their starting talent is probably not far from the Westlake offense that gave Trinity fits. The difference is their relative lack of depth, and their defense won't be able to stop Trinity's offense if the Hawgs and backs show up ready to play.

Great upper body strength ofcourse. There's a clip where he does a push pull move and throws a center who looks bigger than him :notworthy. Great hands and technique for relatively squat body type, outstanding padlevel for the most part. Not simply a power guy because he's got good functional speed and an unbelievable motor.

Not the same class of player as Wade of STP in terms of ceiling. Harvill's potential is close to maxed out where Wade still has alot of top end ceiling - uber potential (but there's no ceiling for heart). but you'd better not dismiss him. You have to account form him at all times

Most likely a high character player because anyone with that many tackles from the DT/NT is something special. I'm thinking a slightly bigger version of Harligens Domingo Rincon

Btw.. the 6-0 245 lb DT that Shiloh has... is he even rated? I've seen that he has no stars, yet, and he's a Jr. Also, at 6-0 245 lbs, he should be faster than a 5.0 40-yd dash. Anyhow, he looks quick and appears to have a ton of success... vs Arkansas HS OL's. ET's OL will be different, in that regard.

Anyhow, looking forward to a good game, though I just can't see Shiloh beating ET.

Hmmm, send him to sTp, then we can try a three way QB rotation. :p

FYI....Carter played QB on the JV, so he is pretty savvy on the schemes.....oh no....never mind....he wont have time to get ready:Music

Yeah... I never got the point of wasting the Sharp kids talent, by using a 2-man approach. Sharp is 6-3 230 lbs... but trying to use him like Tim Tebow (Zone Read... like when he was a Frosh at Fla) is overlooking his overall talent... and potential.

Does anyone know where the Sharp kid is leaning on playing college ball?

From what I saw, anytime Carter threw the ball, it looked to me as if he's "Been There Done That". Scary Kid. And I dont see why we couldnt throw him the ball on trick plays, just lob it up Runningbacks, Hell get it. Just ask........

The Dallas Morning News, always on the cutting edge of reporting the news, has a story about the Shiloh/Trinity game in today's paper. Only a week after it was posted here.

Wait, this just in from the DMN: Cowboys lose to the Vikings!

Well my man Matt Wixon picked Trinity

After seeing what STP had, I don't consider it a slap in the face, I may have favored them too.

As good as Wade's potential is, that small DE #26 or #24? What a stud, #9 was pretty salty too. Probably not as physcial as CedarHills overall Dline, but they were soooo good with their hands (something I'd like Trinity's to do alot better). Who ever coaches Dline technique there knows what he's doing.

And then offensively both Sharp and Barerra were so fearless with throwing over the middle. The only QB I saw do that better was Westlakes Price. KT2000 pointed out that they delayed releasing the handoff in the zone read, did alot to hold the linebackers an extra second and thus free up their releases in playaction. I wouldn't be suprised to see more teams replicate that action.

nawww

the only time that happens is when we play anybody salty out of greater Dallas.

If we're playing anybody else, they're usually in our corner.

but

I hope they pick Shiloh too, it'll help motivate the kids

I don't think Carter would be utilized enough in that situation. He is too dangerous NOT to have on the feild every play:notworthy:D;). Heck, I think sTp would be more dangerous than they are if they kept Barrera at QB and moved the big guy to tight end...whew...think of the possibilities.

I've been missing sand bagging practice due to an off season injury. I had a spill Tues afternoon on my motorcycle. 5 broken ribs and a lacerated spleen:mad:... however, I should be good to go by two a days. I've had visits from the "fence gang" and some 5A board folks here at the hospital. It helps a lot. Trinity fans really are family.

Absalently not... I'm the guy that blasts past you on Airport Freeway on both wheels. Too fat and old for the "crotch rocket" shenanigans. Once upon a time when I was young, dumb, and totally invincible...that would have been me!!:D

Crazy thing is this one was really a freak deal and probably shouldn't have happened. I was cruising over to a friends house to talk about the possible non district games Coach Dibble and I had just talked about earlier during the day. Going east on Midway coming up to Euless Main, I was traveling only 30mph. I started slowing for the light at Main when out of the blue the front brake locked...instantly, and down we went. I did three tumble turns and slid 100 ft. I will have the front brake caliper torn down and inspected when it gets to the Harley shop to find out what went wrong. I've been riding 33 years and have never had a disc brake lock up like that.

Ironically I was going over to "Fence Gang" Bobby Reagan's house to talk Trinity football, and who is right behind me and helps me up off the ground and picks up my scooter but Coach Jay Fitch:notworthy. Thanks a million Coach for helping me out:notworthy...and telling my stubborn @$$ into getting into the ambulance and coming on to the hospital, instead of waiting for my kid to come get me.
