Stop bashing schools (mainly concerns A&M topics)

This is mostly targeted at jtk, wide and others participating in the A&M threads and a few other non A&M threads getting started.

That stuff is crossing the line in my opinion, and I'll lock threads that don't stay within reason. I've had to lock a few of those threads in the past, and don't want to have to do that any more.

Please, be civil and keep the discussion intelligent. We have a lot of very knowledgeable posters on here and hate to see it tarnished with mindless flame threads.

This is just the mayo on our collective turd sandwich. Every major school in our region has won a national championship recently, we can not consistently beat any of the second tier programs that we play, ticket prices are through the roof, recruiting looks bleak and our coaching has yet to provide any hope for improvement.

Next we'll get a report from the vet school that Reveille has mange.

Guys, all this back and forth stuff about UT and A&M really bothers me, but I haven't said anything about it in months. These are all Texas schools and they play a vital role in our state. When I drive through the country, I think about all the farms and ranches and what A&M has done to make this state great. The benefits of UT also go without saying.

Don't get me wrong, I like how the teams are rivals, but we do need to have more respect for the other University by both fanbases.

I know that when a thread is started about t.u. and their recruits or their MNC, I will try to stay away from it. Iwill get involved if A&M is involved but I stay away from t.u. Why do you do this? I'll be honest with you. I don't take all this stuff as a joke. You have done a lot of great things for the board, but I don't think you can keep from causing problems. I just don't think you have it in you, not to mention the fact that I think you enjoy it. All the admins want is to have a board where we have good discussions, get along, and have fun. It's just not easy for them to try to break up fights and hard feelings all the time. There was a time that I had the board up in arms and plenty of people were mad at me. I wanted to fit in and that meant I had to make changes to my posting style and I'm glad I did.

Wide, part of me will really miss you around here, but part of me won't. I really hoped you would conform to what the admins wanted, but I had my doubts that you ever would for very long. It always seemed like you had a pattern of being good for a while and then seeing how far you could push the envelope before getting in trouble. I know some people will be upset, but I really don't think the admins had a choice in this one because you were trying to be above the board. One thing you have to remember is that other people will follow your example because you're a board leader. Some will emulate you and others will reason that they can do something if you do it. That just makes the admins jobs harder. Man, you had everything you could want on this board. You were a Hall of Famer and a legend that people talk about, respect and look up to, but you forgot that the admins run the board and they have rules that they want you to follow. You were in the Navy and you know you have to have a supervisory pyramid. It hurts me to see you go because I know the board is missing a lot without you and I know how much more you had to add to the board that you didn't add because of time spent on foolishness. I agree.....but in all fairness to Wide....if you know this guy is a walking time bomb...why fire him up intentionally? I know Wide is your lifelong friend and everything I said is exactly like I feel. I'm split down the middle on this one. I've sent Wide some PM's in the past asking him to chill out a little. I don't want to see him go because he was funny, smart, and a great asset to the board, but I owe loyalty to the KT's, also. The way I took the posts yesterday was that Wide was making fun of the admins requests to not throw mud. It was bad taste to say stuff in the thread where KT2000 said to keep it clean. Wide was defying the admins and they have to maintain some sort of control over the board or it will turn into chaos. At the end of the day, all of us have to follow the admins rules and none of us are above the law. I just wish Wide would've done that more. The only reason I've said any of this stuff in this thread was because I hope that the board grows from this in a positive way in the future. I said something up front because I didn't want this to turn into a "The admins are communists and unfair" type of thread.

I've called you're husband out before, and went 'round and 'round, and it was to the point we were cool, but I hated it because I have to CAREFULLY pick and choose threads to read because lately...he'd ruin every thread with something about "aggy."

Look at from KT's point of view as well....here is a guy, early 20s, giving a lot of time and money to provide a FREE website to not just Texans here, but this site and forum gets a TON of hits nationwide. This site also gets a lot of views from A&M fans, A&M fans who are very easily turned off by Wide and to a lesser extent jtk and others constant trodding of A&M. It's funny every now and then, as it is with any school when something funny happens (like the Terrence McCoy thing...no Aggie can deny the hilariity of that), but when KT is possibly looking for sponsors for this website and the like and they see that in the forum section we have guys who are so persistent that they could potentially drive away THOUSAND of potential visitors....well that's just business.

He played baseball for them in 90 or somewhere around there (I think?) and we have such fun going back and forth with them. When they come pick up our daughter they always bring an extra Aggy shirt for her to wear and we make her daughter sing Texas Fight, send her home in a UT shirt...just fun. Wide and David go back and forth- but we all know Wide and don't give it a second thought. I know Aggy fans that he can't have a conversation with without putting them down and they come back at him. [wide's BETTER half]

I know Wide is your lifelong friend and everything I said is exactly like I feel. I'm split down the middle on this one. I've sent Wide some PM's in the past asking him to chill out a little. I don't want to see him go because he was funny, smart, and a great asset to the board, but I owe loyalty to the KT's, also. The way I took the posts yesterday was that Wide was making fun of the admins requests to not throw mud. It was bad taste to say stuff in the thread where KT2000 said to keep it clean. Wide was defying the admins and they have to maintain some sort of control over the board or it will turn into chaos. At the end of the day, all of us have to follow the admins rules and none of us are above the law. I just wish Wide would've done that more. The only reason I've said any of this stuff in this thread was because I hope that the board grows from this in a positive way in the future. I said something up front because I didn't want this to turn into a "The admins are communists and unfair" type of thread.

Not that anyone cares, but I'm going to finally weigh in on this whole situation. Wide is my baby boy. We really don't have much in common, except our team preferences and our common likes of piling on people with no sense of humor. No offense, but Aggies tend to be the worst about having no sense of humor. I don't hate Aggies. Contrary to a recent thread, I am one of those people who cheers for any Texas school in their games, as long as they aren't playing Texas. I've cheered for Aggies on many occasions. But you qusetion an Aggie about one of their "things" and they get all hissy about it. It's really fun to pile on with Wide and see how long it takes for the person/people in question to "get it". AZ many want an antiseptic forum, but there won't be as many reading it. There has to be an element of entertainment involved to get that interest and therefore, that financial backing that you mention, AZ. I know of a few "antiseptic" boards and they are ghost towns compared to this board. This board has easily the most postings and lighthearted fun of any I see. Wide is a big part of that success. Without a doubt. I think many people log on that extra time just to see what he said in the last hour.....seriously.

However, the biggest reason for the success of this board is the Admins, the KT's. They do this on their own and never gripe about a thing. Easily the best Admins. I know of. I don't know the details of the conversations between the KT's and Wide, so I can't comment on the real problem that is going on here, however, I do hope that in some way that the KT's and Wide can work this thing out as I believe that this board is better with ALL of them here.

In finishing, I'm 48 years old and widely considered to be a fuddy-duddy. However, I have a better sense of humor that many on this board who take every post as seriously as a heart attack. Grow up and pull your heads out of the orifice and get caught up with the 2000's. This is a High School board that also functions to cover all sports. It's only natural that rivalries will collide like a wrong way truck on an interstate. Drop the bull and stop wearing your feelings and emotions on your sleeves and, as my Mom would have said, get that chip off your shoulder. Have a little fun with the rest of us.

Without regard to the Wide/KT's debate, I thought that his sarcasm that was used in this thread was hilarous, but that's because I "get" him. He went over the top and apparently went too far, but it was hilarous to see the humorless struggle to cope with him.

I do hope that the KT's and he can work this out as it won't be as good a site without him.

No, I don't say anything to kiss up. I really do like the admins and I know they have a tough job watching all these posts. I've been on boards where anything goes and I can deal with that. The admins don't want that on here and since they're nice enough to give us a board to post on, I try to do as much as I can to help keep peace around here. We could have a debate all day about whether or not Wide was out of line or how far he gets out of line at times, but I do know one thing. Wide was pretty consistent about doing things the admins didn't want him to do and it always seemed like he kept pushing the envelope further and further until he got banend again. He made it harder for them to run the board like they wanted it to be run. I know the guys really liked him or else they wouldn't have let him come back from 3 bannings. I'll miss Wide and all the good insight he brought, along with trivia and funny stuff.

You are very much right that Wide has been better than in the past. I've noticed that over the last few months and didn't really read the college threads in the last 10 days to see if he had a relapse in that forum where his most damaging posts have almost always been.

He turned his attention to over-exaggerating niceness (real word?) towards A&M, OU, and others. This is not against any rules. From the point he recieved the PM, he stopped breaking rules while others continued. I do not know the full situation, I do not know if KT sent him any additional PMs, but from what is posted here and from what can be assumed from reading what is here, I don't see the reason for his banning.

I am always pro-administrator, because I have been an admin. for some less popular sites. I earlier said I respected KTs decision, and I still do. I may not like it, but I respect it. Just like I may not like the Redskins but I respect them as a team because they are professional players and they are all better at what they do than I am at what they do. KT is a better admin. than I could ever wish to be. My latest website, which is for my SOCOM 3 clan, has had 51 visitors this month. Hardly anyone is registered for the site, and my forums are DEAD. I know he needs to keep the board under control, and if he lets wide get away with it he has to let others get away with it, but I do wish he would re-consider his decision.

I see what you are saying... however... what he was doing was just as bad as breaking the rules... he was making a mockery of the admins. plea for peace. They asked him nicely.... he attacked the admins. They asked him again... and he started to make fun of them.... that is very immature and just wrong to do. I will weigh in my opinion for what its worth. There is a common misconception that Aggies lack a sense of humor. Absolutely untrue. Some of the funniest Aggie jokes I ever heard came from Aggies. The problem I see is some folks idea of what humor is. Thin skin is shared by most of the posters I have read on here and being in your 40's or your teens makes no difference. If someone demeans your favorite player or school and tries to pass it off as just a joke, it pisses you off and you respond with an attempt to return the favor. I have seen this in all the forums. Everyone sees humor in different ways. I think the folks that run this site have given the benefit of the doubt more often than not on what is considered acceptable behavior. My feeling is, if you don't like the rules here go start your own forum. I think they have an outstanding site. Keep up the good work

Wide, i have been a member for 2 months. we have engaged in some good conversation. I laugh at just about every post you make, because it is usually clever and/ or semi-intelligent. I think it IS because of what you add to the mix that you are not banned.

KT didn't ask anything extraordinary, and then you're all down his throat about it. We are members of the board right? then play by the rules.

Personally, if aggy can't handle it, aggy needs to put his thinkin cap(does this exist for him?) on, and come up with some retort of some kind. I don't see it as KT taking sides. He's just asking us to be civil, which is a stretch for some of us.

Enjoy the conversation, and learn something along the way(like OU cap or Silicone Valley.) I don't want to see anybody get banned, it is alot of fun on here.

Yep, this is what I was talking about. Exactly what is the point of this post. It takes no real position and could be disguised as political ad nauseum rambling. I know it was directed at me, so just please go back and re-read my post and see if your "response from the other side of the aisle" should be re-written. FORUMS THAT DO NOT ENGAGE IN SOME LEVEL OF TRASH TALK AND JOKING AROUND ARE BORING......PERIOD. Excatly where did I question the rules? I said that the Admins are the best going and that Wide must have stepped over the line. I just said I wished that they could work it out, for the best interests of this board.

There is nothing more boring than news talk with no entertainment level and Sports stations that talk only X's and O's. They both go out of business as most folks don't either want to get that detailed or they already know all there is to know about "cover 3". The same rules here, if all people do is talk O-line splits or umbrella secondaries, most folks are out of here after a while. If you're not a coach, how much do you really need to know? There HAS to be a level of entertainment here too, or it will not grow. I believe that because this is a lively board, that is the reason for it's recent success. Maybe if you want all X's and O's YOU should be the one to find your own board.

AZTiger, I will not even begin on you out of respect of the kt brother's but you sir are a hypocrite. I will leave it at that. Yall know my stance on this subject because i stated it in this thread already. I have wide's back all the way unlike some of you back stabbers. But at the same time i respect, appreciate, and like the creators of this site. Hopefully it is a temporary ban? If i felt he clearly crossed the line again after the numerous chances he has been given then i could not support him on being allowed back. I would still have his back as a life long friend though. But that is not the case this time. He did not go over board this time in my humble opinion. It was simply sarcasm that was directed at the wrong person. He probably should have let off a bit out of respect?, but being overly nice/sarcastic is not a good case for a permanent banishment in my opinion. Then again,This is not my site, and i do not make the decisions. It is kt2000's and his brother's site and i will have to live with the decision no matter what that decision may be? If wide is banned for good then of course i will be upset, and i believe this board will be missing a very important member and it will lose some of its identity. Yep, this is what I was talking about. Exactly what is the point of this post. It takes no real position and could be disguised as political ad nauseum rambling. I know it was directed at me, so just please go back and re-read my post and see if your "response from the other side of the aisle" should be re-written. FORUMS THAT DO NOT ENGAGE IN SOME LEVEL OF TRASH TALK AND JOKING AROUND ARE BORING......PERIOD. Excatly where did I question the rules? I said that the Admins are the best going and that Wide must have stepped over the line. I just said I wished that they could work it out, for the best interests of this board.

There is nothing more boring than news talk with no entertainment level and Sports stations that talk only X's and O's. They both go out of business as most folks don't either want to get that detailed or they already know all there is to know about "cover 3". The same rules here, if all people do is talk O-line splits or umbrella secondaries, most folks are out of here after a while. If you're not a coach, how much do you really need to know? There HAS to be a level of entertainment here too, or it will not grow. I believe that because this is a lively board, that is the reason for it's recent success. Maybe if you want all X's and O's YOU should be the one to find your own board.

There are definitely no hidden motives/agendas behind our moderation policy.

I'm a huge supporter of competitive athletics at the high school level (in addition to college and pro) and that's a big reason why I chose to start this site in the first place. I also wanted to keep up with what was going on when I left for college.

I won't speak for champ, but I have a high expectation for the board because I feel like there are a lot of quality members who know their stuff. I don't want this to be like most other message boards because I think it can be more than that.

If you aren't here to participate in quality discussion then this just isn't the right place.

If you have issues with another poster, take it to PM or e-mail. It doesn't belong on the board.

As admins, we are in the middle of everything going on here and we've got to be prepared to make decisions, popular or not. We took on that responsibility by starting this board. Measures of control must be exercised when need be otherwise the entire place goes to crap. There are definitely limits to what we can allow on here.

I understand disagreements will occur in threads, but also know there is a tactful way to go about disagreeing/debating with someone.

I follow sports to get away from all the "real world" drama, so I enjoy logging on and reading quality discussion from yall.

Posters going at it in this thread, and others, need to agree to disagree and move on so no else has to get banned. Know when to walk away.

Well, I guess I'll go ahead and chime in because I figure I'm at least partially involved in this. I think Wide is a great addition to the board. He always livened things up, even if he went a little overboard at times. Originally, when he started the anti-Wide act, I thought he'd keep it up for a post or two and I really wasn't sure what KT had said to him. It didn't seem likely that KT gave him a cyber-labatomy, so I figured this was Wide's way of protesting. Turns out I was right. Then, Lonny says something about him being gone and it didn't really register. It is weird to think of 5atf.com without our professional antagonist wideman. Then, the debate started. I got to thinking and I realized through context clues, that KT had probably asked him to shape up a bit and that wide had apparently offended someone. In my opinion, wide's actual actions may not be that inflammatory, if they were directed at another board memeber or at an admin during a different situation. However, to mock and admin directly after he says you are on thin ice seems irresponsible, childish, and flat out stupid. Wide will be missed, but consequences must follow stupid, irresponsable,and childish actions. I will eternally support the admins for making this awesome site, but I will definately miss Wide.

I figure you're probably reading this, Wide, so I'll try my hardest to keep my sense of humor about A&M-related things and I'm sure jtk will take your place to an extent.

To start off I will say that I had no involvement in this whole situation; I have not ever spoken directly with any of the mods. I can't really say whether I think the ban was right or not, since I know probably 10% of the actual facts, but I do agree that the mods must have some sense of control. As to the quote above ^^^^^ I have no problem with some A&M jokes, etc... I agree that they are not always the brightest (i.e. Terrence McCoy, boards/windows, etc.), and I can laugh at some of it, but when it becomes focused bashing of one school, it can get pretty nasty, and it's not a lot of fun. I mean, I could have gone pretty much anywhere I want and I chose A&M because it's right for me. So when somebody (no one in particular) comes in and starts to turn it up, it gets demoralizing and it is no longer fun to come on here, just because you know there will be something waiting there just for you that's degrading. So if you could please, I'm just asking you to keep it low-grade. You don't have to stop, just tone it down a bit, please. We should all have fun, that's what we're here for.

I would suppose that some intense underlying anymosities conspired to deprive the board of some of its spice. I appreciate what the admins do to provide this forum for us to enjoy..I also enjoyed the outrageous perspective wide often shared with us. Sometimes in love / hate scenarios, the mixture combusts, causing harm to all in close proximity to the blast...

That could be true. I don't know the low end of the scale on those tests. I think somewhere in the 60's or so is the mentally ******** stage, but I could be wrong.

I think right around 75 is considered to be borderline ********. I remember something about that related to a death row inmate a few years back.
