The McKinney HS HC job is open. Any news on who the district will hire? Names making the interview list? Seems like the district is dragging their feet on getting it filled or being pretty tight lipped about it.

What are the odds that Leach would move down to HS Football? ;) :D

Yeah well it would have been quicker but I had to find a suitable picture and then spend time doctoring it up. ;) :D
OK Seriously now, When Pratt got the nod to become the new AD I think it reasonable to think that Reyes had some hope of getting the job as AD. When he did not get it and with all the years of experience it was a perfect time to retire.
The job was not officially posted untill Dec 2nd I think and they certainly would not make a decission before the holidays. They also have a new Super. Dr. Kennedy from Midlothian.
So, looking at the History of the decission makers the common thread seems to be Texas A&M Commerce (Formerly East Texas State). So look first at the current assistant coaches who have some connection to Pratt and ETSU / TAMC.

Pratt has a former OC from his days at North that has applied. Do believe he played at A&M Commerce and was the OC there before coming back to North to be the OC. He coached under Pratt twice while he was the HC at North. Currently he's the HC at a school in San Antonio.

which school in SA?
I believe they will promote from within the school district, it's just something MISD does. I personally think they should go outside the district and get either a good defensive minded coach from some near 5A schools or get a 3A coach who wants to move up that has a defensive mindset. Bottom line, you gotta play something that at least resembles defense and there isn't one school in MISD that does that, so I'm not sure I would stay with the PFW system, that they have followed for a long time.

Anyone think that Poe's son will be interviewed? Lot's of history there and he is a good OC.
They need a DC mind in there????

Although it would make sense and be a great hire for McKinney, I'm under the impression BP would have no chance due to a conflict of interest. His sister is on the School Board and MISD see's it as a conflict... At least that was the answer I was given...

I heard they were bringing a lot of people to interview. Something like 20 or more over the next 2 weeks. Just what I heard.

Maybe, but therein lies the problem...Offensive football hasn't been an issue for the Lions, it's the defense that is lacking.

This is true but a good HC can change the program and bring in a good DC. Carroll had a great defense under TD and I do not think it had anything to do with Dodge's defensive prowess. The Poe name in McKinney is huge and would just make sense to me. It would be pretty cool playing in a stadium that shares your name. :D

Well, the one part of this post that was wrong and honestly I am somehwhat shocked that MISD went away from their PFW mindset, was the part about PFW...
Anyways, I knew and had to believe if they were really serious they would get a defensive minded coach...and they went and got one of the best ones around..
McKinney approved Lake Highlands defensive coordinator Jeff Smith as its new head football coach at the regularly scheduled school board meeting Tuesday night.

Good for them. If McKinney High starts to play some defense, they could be pretty damn salty.
