If you have Time Warner you will very much enjoy watching the pitch black channel instead of all regular fox channels to bring in the new year at midnight. Yes that means three of the five BCS games will be broadcast in complete silence and crystal clear black screen quality as well as House, 24, American Idol (yawn), NFL this weekend, and countless other smaller shows.

This sucks. The only option I had was DirecTV + Time Warner internet or get a bundle with Time Warner and save money. I chose to save money and now I'm either going to be visiting Bagpipes or Pluckers all day tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday or I miss out on some pristine college football.

I'm not really following this debate or what the catfight is over but from the little I've read it sounds like Fox is pulling major d-bag stunts and trying to push Time Warner around. Correct? Incorrect?

Anyone else have Time Warner and getting ready to bend over tonight and midnight and enjoy NOT watching football from the comfort of their own homes?

IMO, Fox is trying very hard to make TW the bad guy - which makes me think Fox is the problem. They're hoping if they can control the perception TW will make concessions in the negotiations.

It ALWAYS sucks to have a delivery system and no content...

If no deal gets done, myself along with many others will have to decide on our own options.
Fios has been working it hard lately.

As for me, I have a set on an antenna in the bedroom but the big TV in the den is on TW. I won't miss anything I want to see, but its still irritating.

If you have a TV with a digital tuner you can still pick up local broadcasts in HD. Just bring the antenna over to the HDTV. This is probably what I'll be doing but I'll have to go out and buy an antenna... haven't used one in years.

I would love to switch to Fios but it's not an option in my apartment. They have by far the best HD picture quality and the fastest internet.

Had Fios in between stints w/DirecTV. It was ok. THe DVR was significantly worse than DTV.

My Fiso internet was ok, but the wireless/satellite I have now, is faster.

I just read that Fox wants TW to pay them $1 per subscriber per year. Apparently the going rate is 20-25 cents. TW doesn't want to set the precedent with negotiations looming with the other networks.

I read that too. Sounds like Fox is being a doosh!

Didnt they do the same thing last year....and reached an agreement right before midnight? I remember they had ads in the paper with Dora the Explorer crying and stuff saying she would miss the kids.

I can see starting at $1 but that is where "negotiation" comes in. Somebody has to give at some point. We have Fios right now.

I've not ever owned Fios so I can't comment on the DVR but I do know that the picture quality from Fios is the best in the business. The data speed is higher than any other company and significantly higher than Comcast and AT&T.

Whenever I've been in an apartment with Fios I've been more than impressed. The speeds were routinely 18MB/s which is significantly faster than anything I've ever had with Time Warner. It's possible you had a lower tier internet speed because I've never seen anything as fast.\

Either way... I'd love to not have to deal with TW and give Verizon a try.

One can be a capitalist and still believe one side or the other is being a d bag.

I generally disagree...both are trying to f*** each other to the benefit of their shareholders...no d bags...just a market...

That's capatlism. Fox wants more money and they are either going to get or drop Time Warner and suffer the losses. Me thinks Time Warner is calling Fox's bluff because they stand to lose a lot less money than Fox does. How many subscribers are honestly going to jump ship or even have the ability to jump ship because of this? Probably a lot less than the millions of dollars in lost ad revenue because people aren't tuning in to FOX because they can't tune into Fox. I know I'd like to jump ship but I've wanted to do that long before this. This incident certainly isn't pushing me over the ledge.

I can't give you numbers...but when one of our LOCAL stations couldn't strike a deal with the local cable company, DishNetwork dishes started appearing all over town because they carried ALL the LOCAL channels...
