What are everyone's plans for New Years Eve and New Year's day?
Traditions?
We will attend a party at our neighbors house and then on New Year's day have pork and sauerkraut with black eyed peas and cornbread. And of course lots of football!

We will attend the Armed Forces Bowl on New Year's Eve at noon. Then the wife and I will have dinner with neighbors as we have for the last 10 years. the kids usually attend parties in area. Amazing how the girls' Moms volunteer to get my boys home :) Been that way for a long time.
I usually take a minute to close the book on the year sometime during the day, as I consider this to be the close of a season and the start of a new one.
New Year's day is for making two meals, breakfast from 10-11 and dinner from 4-5. Usually waffles, bacon, omelettes, biscuits, gravy, hash browns, and a fruit tray in the morning. Then ham, potato salad, black eyes, cold vegetable salad, and pies in the afternoon. Not everyone is here for both meals. The kids that crash here on New Years Eve at breakfast, the family and friends at dinner. For the lucky few that are here for both, good luck staying awake. :D
As with most of us, football will consume the day. 5 bowls to wet the appetite for 5 more the next day, and then the full slate of NFL games on Sunday the 3rd. :notworthy
Having the first on a Friday works out great for football junkies, it is going to be a great weekend !!!!!!

Sounds great. Good football, good food, and most of all good friends. Perfect:notworthy
Used to work to past 11 every year. Had last year off....
This year off at 7PM and going to our friends house who fix lobster/blah blah blah. Mother in law and wife are into cabbage, corn bread, and blakc eyed peas. Eat that, watch some football and hang out is all I've got going on.

NYE at home with whatever bowl game looks interesting.
NYD with blackeyed peas along with something. We did the Cowboy game for Thanksgiving and chicken for Christmas so now I have to decide on something for New Year's -- maybe a pork roast.

New year's eve: Im gonna watch a little bit of the Armed Forces Bowl - UH VS Air Force. At 2pm I'll be at Reliant Stadium to watch the Texas Bowl in person - Navy vs Missouri. Afterwards who knows. Im not really a New Years kind of guy, last year I went to sleep at 11.

I forgot the Texas Bowl was that day. A guy that graduated with my oldest daughter plays for Navy (Marcus Curry) so we will certainly be watching that!!
if the night goes right, i won't remember the night. if the night goes perfect, i should either burn my cornea or end up looking like was turned into a vampire the night before.

My family and I do little things to celebrate the new year, so I'll be doing all of that with them. Plus my best friend is coming in town again this year so she will spending time with my family too. One of my guy friends is throwing a party again this year so the two of us plus my brother will be going to that again. Great party last year, can only imagine it better this year. We'll be getting silly but still kicking the new year off classy. :)

Having the first on a Friday works out great for football junkies, it is going to be a great weekend !!!!!!I'm going to do my best to sneak out of town to get to Fort Worth for the game. It's a shame to have to work during an Armed Forces Bowl that includes Air Force and it's doubly bad for me since they're playing Houston.
That night, I'm going to the Stars game vs. Anaheim and driving to East Texas. I'll leave Longview early in the day on the 2nd, drop the girls off at their mom's place and head over to the Alamodome for the Tech game.
The irony in all of this is my plan exactly a year ago was:
Dec 31 Armed Forces Bowl: Air Force vs. Houston
Dec 31 Stars vs. Devils
Drive to East Texas
Jan 2 Texas Tech vs. Mississippi in the Cotton Bowl
The only difference is taking the girls to San Antonio and watching Tech down there instead of in Dallas/Arlington.

I've always thought getting drunk was stupid to start with, but doing it for New Year's is doubly stupid because there is nothing to celebrate about it.
I was going to wait around outside the AAC after the Stars game last year, but the crowd was so bad that I left well before midnight and headed on towards East Texas. I spent the New Year driving, which was a lot better than freezing and being crowded!:D

You can't find anything to celebrate about New Year's?

I agree with you. I use to drink a lot when I went out, but now I cut back a lot. I haven't had a beer in about a month, but I'll maybe have one or two every now and then.
And New Year's, well I use to pop fire crackers when I was a kid, but when I started paying for them myself they seemed like a waste of money. Im not too into New Year's. Now i'll just water down the yard and try and stay off the street, so I don't hit any stupid teens going crazy because they can buy a new calendar.
Dinner with the girlfriend and several other couples at Trudy's, have a nice mexican martini while there, head over to 6th street for a couple of hours, and then blow up some fire works. I'll be drinking, but not heavily. Have to drive.
By the way if anyone is in the Austin area you really should head over to one of the Trudy's and get a Mexican Martini. One of the best I've ever had.

On New Years Eve we're going to a wedding at the Tower Club in downtown Dallas and will bring in the new year during the wedding reception.
Usually do sauerkraut and blackeye pea's on New Years day, but might break that tradition this year and do steaks...

Forgot to state plans........ Well last night is over and all I'll say is the wifey and I celebrated.
Today is parades, bowl games and dinner;
ham
cabbage
black eyed peas
carrots
apple salad
cornbread (my recipe)
apple pie ala mode (Mrs. Smith's deep dish. No home made this time)
Breyer's vanilla for the ala mode. Couldn't find Blue Bell in 1/2 gallon.

We left the wedding about 10:45 last night... Before we even made it to Woodall Rogers, we were almost side swiped twice by cars flying out, and I mean at very high speed, of parking lots!! Once we got on I-35, from downtown to the 114/183 split, we had another 3 cars want to change lanes into us!!
I can only imagine what the drive would have been like at 12:30-1:30 timeframe
Now I know why we stay home on New Years Eve :D
