Watch this kid run through 3 defenders, it almost looks set up! Hows that for a running back?

Impressive, but when you're 6'2", 223 high school running back, you expect to run over a few kids from time to time. :D

If he was in Texas or played againt Texas competition that would never have happend. That competition he played against was just flat awful. You would never see a guy make a run like that here in Texas.

Looked more like bad tackling than good running to me.

It's because those guys do not learn how to tackle from Texas defensive coaches. That stuff would never ever happen in Texas.

Florida=talent and zero fundamentals.

You don't teach your kids anything. They play flag football in the other states. Bring your self to Texas and see how real coaches coach and real players play and real tacklers tackle and real runners run and real passers pass and real blockers block. Your teams can't even beat a team from New Jersey so how the heck should I take you serious at all? Sheesh

The team in black is Plant, our 5A state champs.
The team in white and red is Manatee. They were the team that beat St. Thomas in round 4.
Plant got out to a 21-0 lead and won the game 21-14.
- Hope the Texas 5A playoffs were as exciting as Florida's was this year.

Impressive, and fun to watch, but not insane.......
Tre Newton's run against Westlake is far more impressive than this (and that was in and against fellow Texans)

That run?
I remember that one
Was hoping to see somebody else come out and seriously say what I was joking about so I could use that one as an example.
That display of tackling by Westlake was pretty bad wasn't it?

haha you said it.
watch the replay of the run.

i think it was the second tackler that would have had him but the third pushed him back up (and then repeat those steps for 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9)... in essence, if westlake only had two hits on him then he would have been down.
as a side note in that clip, CADE FOSTER WAS PLAYING BACK THEN TOO!

Yes, Cade was the Carroll kicker back then.
Here is one of Aaron Luna against Lufkin. Good back, good run, meets poor tackling, just like on most legendary runs like the Tre Newton one.

Luna is my favorite Carroll back ever :notworthy
Nothing against the other great ones but I loved his style of play.
He was damn good and a very good runner, good speed, but great strength and power and he was a very good threat as a receiver, he ran those screens so well. A pretty damn good blocker too. All around probably the best spread RB I have seen since the likes of Stephen Ennis from FM Marcus back in the 95-97 seasons

I agree. Luna had it all. All the tools that you mentioned. I'd always laugh at people when they spoke of him saying there wasn't much to him and then after they played against him, they were singing a different tune.:D

Let's see. Trinty vs Westlake. Trinity scores with 1:58 left in the game to take a 35-28 lead. Westalke scores to tie it up. Trinity has seconds left and the QB breaks free on a draw and is tripped up on a desperation diving ankle slap to save the winning TD. Trinity comes up short on the FG attempt and the 5A championship goes to OT for the first time in history.
Nah... Ours was boring... :D
