English Bulldog.....and if anyone finds one for under $1200 let me know.

FYI....when getting a new dog.....stare at it.....if it turns it's head...keep it.

If he stares back......get rid of it.

LOL....just dogs. Dogs are "Pack" animals by nature. Some are born the Alpha and some are born the omega. A dog that will have a staring contest with you is trying to tell you "Hey, I'm the leader of THIS pack" and therefore will be harder to train and most likely to turn on you. A good dog never looks you in the face.

LOL...I love dogs....I wanted to be a vet before I joined the Army. I have 100's of books on dogs, how the all came from one breed....how they smashed their faces with bricks and put them in too small cages to stunt their growth......I can talk dogs all day. My son was bitten by a neighbors Rott when he was 3....messed his leg up pretty bad so he's just now getting comfortable with dogs again....and a lazy man needs a lazy dog....that's why I want an English Bulldog.....all the do is sleep...plus the look mean.:D

If you ever want to play a cruel joke on a friend or someone you dont like for that matter. Take your German Shepard and tie it up.....REALLY tight so that it dosent get loose. Then you have your friend grab you and take you to the ground as if he was attacking you.......Two days later.....bring him back over with the dog untied....lol

So far that seems to only work with a German Shepard.:D

I went to a guy's house that had recently bought a black Shepherd - this male dog was raised in East Germany as a drug/restraint dog and sold to a B'mont law enforcement group. He was breeding/raising pups for various other law enforcements around here. He put the dog in a fairly stout cage and let me go look at him. The noises coming out of that dog were sounds I've never heard before.

did it take them a while to mature cause my dog trooper is crazy

You have to remember, Sheps are the most intelligent dog out there. They did a scientific test a few years back and they listed the most intelligent dogs - the poodle was listed first and, since I think that was a cruel joke, I went with second on the list - the loyal, noble German Shepherd. I have owned 4 so far.

Because they are so intelligent, they don't miss a beat - my Vader is 6 and still acts up from time to time. The other day, Ginger (my 10 year old) had his ball and he wanted it - so he goes and finds her puffy doll and brings it to her in exchange for his ball. On Christmas, he opens his gifts himself and last year we forgot one and he went to the tree and brought it to us...he KNEW it was his. He will never completely mature - it's just his nature to be 100% involved in our lives and that entails being a little wild at times. He is an indoor dog too and that doesn't help with the hyperactivity - I have to throw for him and play hide and seek constantly - he wears me out. Ginger is very calm and laid back though - has always been mature and neat. If you look at a Shepherd, they hear and see everything. It's hard not to hear with those radars for ears!! So, my advice is to love him/her for what they are - not what you hope they will be:)

Same here......My son had a chow. Chow's are crazy...the get attached to one person and one person only...when my son was at school the dog stayed under the table and would never come out...when my son was home....that's when he came out. Whenever we had company and anyone was talking to my son,,,including us...the dog always put himself between the person and my son. Sometimes he would growl as if to say "you're too close to him"...and yes one day my son messed up and I had to do the daddy thing....too make a long story short...we had to give "Pooh Bear" to the SPCA to find him a new home.

they do have a bad rep but just depends on the owner IMO. hell i can get a mutt of the street and teach him to kill...I dont fight my dogs or anything like that but I do train them to defend and he will defend me when commanded or if at one point im not looking....I talk to him like any other person..i get home from work and just sit with him and his sister and momma and drink a beer and just chill..they love music too then i take em for walks..I dicipline all them as well if need be..just dont go in my house lurking around cause there trained to protect my lot..they will not set one paw outside the gates..they might sniff across but wont go across unless im walking them out..there good dogs..but again all up to the owner

Quote from a Mastiff website:http://www.nancyspiller.com/

The Blairs Mills RR1 resident [who suspects she’s known locally as “the nut with the dogs”] sells the Mastiffs bred and born at her farm all over the country, advertising litters in Dog World magazine. Puppies fetch $1,800 to $2,500 apiece and are products of the best dogs in the country, winner of Best of Breed at the famous Westminster show, Nancy says.

I have a Boston Terrier named Lucille right now...
It is the third one I have owned in my life...I love them.
My family had a brown and white (extremely rare) Boston Terrier throughout my childhood...in fact I have a picture of me holding her somewhere around here that I can post...Her name was Pugaroo......RIP Pug...

My list would be

2. English Bulldog
3. Lab

5. Hairless Terrier...(awesome dog.....but $$$$$$$$$$$$)

I like the kind of dogs that don't bark or crap in your yard. The stuffed ones you get in a toy store is O.K. as long as it doesn't shed.
