Football: Franchione clears up McCoy's exuberance

After signing with Texas A&M, Midland Lee receiver Terrence McCoy told the Midland newspaper, "They take care of you down there. I know from my brother (A&M quarterback Jamie McCoy) they keep your pockets full, give you plenty of money, keep feeding you meals."

Aggies coach Dennis Franchione said Thursday that Terrence McCoy was talking about things such as per diems and meal money for scholarship athletes.

"Yes, we take care of our kids, but we don't do anything outside of NCAA rules," Franchione said, chuckling.

In other A&M news, cornerbacks coach Chris Thurmond is leaving for the same position at the University of Houston.

I know Aggy is bad, but why would you leave for U of H? Same position, but a smaller school. No matter what the stigma A&M has associated with it now, its still a more presitgious position.

Dude, one legged squirrels could have b*tch slapped Cooper this year. I don't crow about beating my 7 year old nephew in horse and there is a reason why.

FWIW, I really hate Little Debbies. Now, Grandma's pecan pie... that is my kryptonite. :o

So if his pockets are still full.......it's safe to say this is pre-recruiting trip...which means he is probably on his best behaviour (as far as over-eating goes) not wanting to show up at Mama 'nems house with snack cake all in his grill....

I'll say under 8.

But after signing a new recruit...with empty pockets and joy in his soul...
He could knock down 15-20.

Terrence "Moneybags" McCoy says 30 dollars can buy you 30 Zebra Cakes at Dollar General.

When Fran chuckled, it wasn't those innocent chuckles, it was one of those "you guys caught me please don't go to the NCAA" kinda chuckles. He probably rolled his eyes and chuckled too.
